I have had many questions coming into the navy about being Undes. I hadn't gotten much information so now I'm sharing my experience as an Undes Fireman. Thank you for watching! Please subscribe!! 🙏🇺🇸💯⚓ IG- _alx_bourne Snap- _alx_bourne
Finally a positive outlook to make me feel better about choosing pact fireman, I honestly just hope I get to see the world in the navy as a pact fireman
This was so helpful, right I’m in “a-school” for e-pact and I’ve been stressin because everyone keeps saying that being undes sucks ass and I’m going to get treated differently etc. but this vid really did help a lot!
@@ALXPHOTOS I have a major qestion going in as an epac. Is it true you can strike any rate outside the engineering rates like os,ae,bm? My recuiter told me I can strike anything as long as it's available.
@@ismaelramirez1258 that is false. As E pact you can only strike engineer rates. You'll have to cross rate to seaman and then strike a topside rate. I'm currently in the process of doing that
@@ismaelramirez1258 according to my Career counselor after 6 months at the command you can request it. Now it's up to the command to approve it. But once I've crossed I'll give you more information. This month is my 6 month mark so I will now be starting the process
I've been where you are and have done that also as a nondesignated Fireman that transferred from ''R'' division HT's to ''A'' Gang on the U.S.S. Lockwood FF-1064 in Yokosuka Japan from 81'' to ''83! Times were rough back then (Racism in the Reagan era)..I hope you are fortunate enough to work around some FAIR senior NCOs and officers and .....one thing to remember NEVER GET ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE CHIEFS MESS OR YOUR NAME WILL BE MUD.....I learned that the HARD way! I'm sure things are a lot BETTER NOW than when I was in you could get written up for just breathing wrong or a facial expression that they don't like could be a setup for failure! Overall I had some good shipmates in my division and in other departments....just stay out of the way of maybe one or two assholes that can ruin you.....GOOD LUCK ....youngster!!
Thank you, I have come a very long way since this video. I will make a new one, but I'm an MM2 now. I was Mapped (capped you might know it as) to E4 and then again to E5 so yes things have definitely changed in my favor. Thank you for your service 🙏
Nice- you'll be given swim lessons. Try your best to pass it early. If you fail the swim test. You go to swim class every morning and take the test over and over until you pass. You have up to graduation to pass.
Can I retake my asvab for the 1 year wait. They gave me SNPACT (leaving Sept 2020) and I only took it cause the job I want is in that list but realized I'm a couple points off
What do Damage Controlmen/Firefighters in the Navy do when on shore duty? Is there a Navy Firehouse on each base/port with fire trucks that are run by the DCs? I’m thinking about a lot of different jobs in the Navy, there’s so much to chose from and to think about. Thanks!
Damage controlmen do alot both in port and underway. Dc falls under Engineering. Underway we mostly stand watch and do maintenance when necessary. In port is the same thing but alot more work gets done. The dc guys have a lot of maintenance, they are in charge of all the firefoghting gear, like the scba bottles and the repair lockers. There's also a lot of firemain valve maintenance they do. So as a DC you'll be pretty busy. The firehouse on base aren't ran by DC. They are their own entities. So as a DC on board you won't go to the fire house in port. After the navy you can become a Navy firefighter if you desire. There are alot of jobs and pickign the right one is important. Keep doing your research and look into the things you have a great interest in and go for it. Hope this helped good luck with everything
Ian Sadowski aye bro if your thinking going firefighting DC don’t guarantee a firefighting job in the civilian side because you we don’t have certs, the airforce legitimately have certs if you go to their firefighting route in the airforce. Although DC is a very rewarding job if you like to work, but on shore duty we can do ff instructor duty, recruiting, valve shops, and so much more but if you want to be a firefighter work on a degree in fire science that way it’s at least a foot in the door to that sector
@@jayway8427 nope you will definitely get the experience, but getting hired off the bat you need your paramedic licence and that’s tough. Maybe getting HM job in the navy will help but keep in mind there are different corpsman’s such as dental, X-ray, and etc
I’m going in as fireman pact as well, this really helped me out. I’m really hoping to get a dope ship and cool people. I just have one question since we’re undes do we go straight to our ship after boot camp or go to school.
Hey Alex, my hubby graduates next month. I’ll be flying from Hawaii. I was told his A school is across the street. Will he be able to spent the weekend with us? If so will he be able to sleep over or does he have to check in? Last question is our day with him Sunday night or Monday morning? Sorry just tryna plan my trip and tryna save as much money I can. Thank you..
Hey, yes if he is going to A school I'm great lakes he will be able to spend the weekend with you. Friday after graduation he will see you at RTC then he will travel over to A school via a bus and you will have to meet him there. Once he has checked in and everything he will have the weekend with you
Alex Bourne thank you I appreciate your response. Does he have to check in every night or just go back in Sunday night? I’m tryna figure out the air bnb because damn near all the air bnb near Great Lakes is booked. Don’t wanna be to far from base if he has to check in every night
Alex Bourne one last question lol you don’t know how much easier u just made this for me. Thank you again. Does he have to go back Sunday night or Monday? Happy New Years!
@@whosbait8895 it depends on the class of ship you are on because different classes have different workloads where you own more or less equipment dm me to know more tho
Yea I know a bunch of GS's. GSM mainly work on the motors the GSE's work on the generators. There's other equipment in the ship that they work on as well but idk all of their equipment
Undes sux . It’s like a jail sentence. I failed being an eod, passed all advancement exams, had college, high azvab and my navy career was jus chipping paint 😠. I swear this new military doesn’t like alpha anymore. They could have used me in the fleet doing real things like being a Seabee or something else. Undesignated is jus cheap free slave labor for navy nothing more or less
Not going to lie your going to be grinding especially if your on DDG’s/small boys. Cool side on it you respond to emergency’s like fire/flood/toxic gases etc. You do a lot of maintainence on fixed installed ff systems but if you learn/know the equipment from senior people it will be easy to put forth what’s important to knock out first and what can wait. Lastly, doing drills and training can be cool but also redundant but that’s because you have new people like JO’s or junior enlisted and most of all shit can happen anytime
Jacob Calleros I want to be a fire fighter in the navy, I’m really confused because what are actual fire fighting jobs called in the navy ? Or is it just dc? is dc the same thing as navy fire fighter?, or navy firefighters are different from dc and their own thing?
miss onion rings firefighter are (DC) damage control man in the navy you are the SME (subject matter expert). DC are only shipboard firefighters they don’t do what civilians do because the equipment is different
miss onion rings also on another note where I think you are confused is that federal fire fighters are OUR military civilian firefighters if that makes sense. DC are the shipboard firefighters for THEIR ship ONLY you will NOT work with the federal fire fighters
Jacob Calleros I want to be a firefighter after the navy, I’m still confused on what kind of job I want , I also thought of being a MA , MA or DC? Also does dc get advanced well?
