This truly is life changing advice! After seeing videos about the bottom of M50s being destroyed from over- tightening the attachment screw, I've got a cage and upgraded all my tripods to Arca-Swiss. So easy to move between! I also was unaware of the "VHS vs. Betamax" war between Manfrotto and Arca-Swiss. Thanks for the info!!!!

Problem with both Small Rigs is your adapters wont seat unless you remove said adapter's tripod support or file a portion of the cage to allow it to fit. This is more than an inconvenience if you plan on using EF glass and/or lens turbos. I returned my small rig and now intend to try the Neewer branded one simply because it claims it's compatible with the lens turbo and the canon adapter for EF glass. Looking at the photos for the Neewer one on Amazon it does appear to not have any thing in the way of the adapter's base plates. We'll see how it really works when it arrives. One down side of the Neewer is the lack of the side mounted arca swiss plate that the Small Rig L bracket has. However, the obstruction of the adapters is a deal breaker for me so the search goes on. If anybody knows of the perfect solution(brand) that solves all my concerns please let me know in the comments. Thanks for the video and good luck everyone.

Great videos. could you do one on m50 webcam set up, is there a software download, I spent hours on the Canon site and every search leads to a product sales page!And a video about hard wire connections to Mac, iPad would be great. thanks

After many frustrating hours of doing the same I discovered that Canon isn't up to IOS13 for the M50 utilities, so, put in that your system version is IOS 12.then the webcam utility shows up and is downloadable. But I will do a video to le t everyone know, thank for watching. best, Jack

Great advice we certainly get sick of losing the plates off the top of tripods, then having to spend hours looking for them to find they are stuck on an old camera we were experimenting with.

I use my M50 on the Joby Joby JB01507 3K GorillaPod, and I have the small rig cage - am I out of luck? It does not appear that I can take advantage of the arca swiss setup? Thanks. (BTW, I'm truly enjoying your channel.)

Arca swiss plates are the best! I’ve got the skinny one by Joby so when I pop open the battery at the bottom, I don’t need to remove the plate. There are some arca swiss plates that are too wide so the battery door of the M50 can’t open all the way unless you remove the plate too (a big pain in the butt).

I purchased my first Small Rig cage on your advice a few months back, game changing it was. The cages work so well I added a cage to my second M50. The features and functions of small rig cages are fantastic. BUT i am , or WAS forced to screw on the Joby small triangle plates so i had access to the battery and SD card. NOW ! you have changed my world. I had no idea, sounds simple like you said. However we don't know what we don't know. I am now going to switch over to Arca Swiss. and my cameras will now be able to sit flat on a table. Thank you for sharing these overlooked and REALLY REALLY helpful nuggets.

I think there is a paid app that can do it, that’s the only way I have been told about. For night Timelapse I just rubber-band the shutter button down, for daytime I use the movie Timelapse mode.

Question….I have an M50 too but after a couple of months the rubber between the play button and menu bottom is delaminating and it such a small thing , but so disappointing. There is an access cutout. It doesn’t block that area at all, so the cage can remain on.

I am searching for the BEST (as in strength and clamp mouth-opening space) and MINIMUM or SLIM profile, Arca Swiss clamp to fit on my small vlogging Gimbal. I too have my Canon M6 in a SmallRig cage, and it's built arca swiss feature is awesome. PROBLEM: The small vlogging gimbals don't have a built-in arca swiss clamp, or I can't find a Minimum profile clamp that opens far enough. Not all arca swiss clamps open far enough. Thanks for posting about this topic. I would love to see a video about a variety of small arca swiss clamp options, that are good for the smaller Gimbals.

Bought my small rig because of you and I love it! The only issue is the speed booster and a full frame lens won’t fit with the small rig on it lol

Have you found a solution from another brand or by filing away the obstruction? The speed booster or turbo or that vitrox thing is a nice benefit when shooting at night. Takes a f1.4 and turns then into f1.0. Never had that luxury before. Works especially well with the Zeiss EF manual glass. Doesn't work with all lens aperture mechanisms however; notably a Samyang AF 14mm 2.8 even after updating the lens to the latest firmware. Still only stops to f2.8. I'll be trying the neewer branded cage next, just wish it had the side Arca plate like the Small rig L bracket has. So the search continues. Good morning.
