STOP P R O P A G A N D A The reality of Russia is really sad... Coming out of Kremlin's propaganda bubble... The totalitarian regime of dictator Putin and his followers, has been conducting a senseless war of unprovoked invasion of a neighboring state, Ukraine, with its recognized sovereignty and borders, causing thousands of deaths, total destruction of cities and territory, unbelievable war crimes since 2022, in violation of all international law and despite the firm condemnation and warning of the UN and the overwhelming majority of civilized countries, not to mention all the blackmail and all the lies. What the fuck are you talking about, without ever feeling a sense of shame, of pity for the innocent victims, of the wasted resources, of the pain inflicted by imperialist manias of a murderous billionaire and his followers faithful accomplices Russian citizens...
Eli would really like Japan I think... road signs are also in Russian in parts of Hokkaido ... with onsens / banya everywhere.. Hakodate and Sapporo has had russian (and czech) communities if I recall. FYI: I think some words in Japanese are the same as russian/slavic as well.
Not only are there Old Believer and other cultures with villages in Alaska and Canada :: I know of a couple Old Russian communities that have “sovereign native” status on Kodiak Island .... from the days of the first russian explorers of west coast Americas
You have to give respect to her, she received a simple referral to visit someone 60km 4 days away by trecking in the mountains and she goes. What a woman.
She's precious.I watch her because she's daring/bright and warm...I dated a lady who looked just like her in Ukraine ( of Tartar origin).....what a darling people! The women are elegantly slender and delicious!
@@projectdesign4675I once (nearly two decades ago luckily) met a Ukrainian redhead girl/women, which was only interested in my success in carrier or potentials and the potential to make money. Realized it fast and we quite fast stop dating. It's a stereotype, but people/women are quite often that way in every country and they are also somehow flat and inappropriate to a certain degree without realising it (ever), unfortunately.
I am not tired about saying that you are such a great documentary maker. Your channel is, for me, probably, the highest quality one that I can find in youtube overall, in the most importnt terms (quality of content, quality of production, cultural spectrum). I don't know who you are, but I am amazed if you can do all this just by yourself.
Loved this video as a Georgian too. But referring to svans as not georgians and comparing their culture to Georgian culture made no sense. Every region of Georgia has its unique culture, we united to maintain that culture from outside forces. Svan language is different from laz zan megrelian etc… same with food, how we dress, party etc. in imereti you will find mostly vegetarian food when some one dies in svan they will slaughter a lot of animals. Every region is different there is no stand alone georgian culture without regional culture combined. Same people will refer to apkhazians as not Georgians and etc which is just sad.
I am sooo impressed to see people in remote Georgian villages speak English so well. Here in Germany not even in big towns speak English at this level.
Can imagine, that you are right, never thought about it. I also had problems with speaking it fluently because of a lack of practicing, but understood quite everything an average English speaker told, watched quite often English movies for over a decade etc. So oversimplified said, Germans usually at least understand English well. The older people in East Germany if 50+ years understand rather Russian language (or both). In Western Germany you can get along quite well without learning a single word of German. I got to know a lot of English speaking people, who never really needed to learn some German and even complained about that circumstance. But the scholar system of Germany slowly declines since decades as well, obvious and unfortunately!
If you go to many African countries you will find a lot of people speak English there as well, it is a sign of a poor under developed country we’re people dream of immigrating from their country so they put an effort to study English
Wtf small Language mean 😅🤦🏼♀️ German is part of Germanic language group together with many other European languages , so it’s actually easier for them to learn English . Georgian has its own language group , which incorporates other languages : svanuri, megruli and lazuri
How Germany being a developed country explain that many Germans don’t speak English ? When it’s a mandatory subject at school and they don’t have a problem related to deficiency of good teachers or difficulty for students to systematically attend classes
Beautiful country and one of my favorite episodes. My wife is from Kazan, and I proposed to her in Tbilisi. That country will always have a special place in our hearts.

Such an admirable thing to travel on foot, four days to say hi from one friend to another! Sounds very humbling and grounding! It's now my favorite story from Georgia 😊.
hello from Georgia! i'd like to let you know that we are little European Nation. we always spoke several languages, during old eras educated people knew Arabic or Persian or Turkish(Osmanlija) then we knew Russian and German, now we know English and yeah because of reforms made in Georgia in 2012 changed so many things here. that reform is putting English as 1st foreign language in every Georgian school, started from the tiniest mountain village to biggest Tbilisi schools. that's why English replaced two main foreign languages (Russian and German) and now i would surely say, that majority of Georgian population under 30-35 speaks English. best regards 🎈 we await more and more American tourists here 😁🥰
@@jimskoutas1933 Yes. Many elders are quick to use Russian words when they forget the Georgian equivalent of the word. When I was a kid, they would also speak to one another in Russian so that the youngsters wouldn't understand what they were saying, but I do not see such a practice anymore.
Eli i am touched by your soul, It is unreal that you took the 60km walk and do this, as i said before in my eyes you are a living legend, and also a pure heart, Thank you for taking us out here on your travels. I admire and have the higest respect for you.
WOW! Eli. This is one of your very best productions. I love your attitude, fortitude and superb video production values. Great use of your drone. Thank you for taking the trouble to bring greetings from Givi and sharing the adventure with us. I am very surprised to learn that so many Georgians speak English. I am confident that this production may very well increase tourism into Georgia from English speaking countries. The government of Georgia should pay you a healthy stipend for being such an incredible ambassador.
Actually from the perspective of a Georgian the video is so freaking terrible! She’s absolutely lacking information and I guess never did any research about the places she visited. This video is not informative at all, it shows almost nothing, what have you learned about Tbilisi? That there are 3 soviet buildings connected with the bridges? Ridiculous 😂 About Kutaisi? There is nothing to see there 🤦🏼♀️ What a shame! One of the oldest cities, with so many artefacts, monasteries, natural monuments, caves etc… only thing she showed was a shitty district, also ridiculous! What’s more, Svans are Georgians and it’s so freaking wrong to say it in a different context, Svaneti is one of the regions of Georgia, with a rich culture and their own dialect, which belongs to Kartvelian languages. So many more things to mention but I’ll finalize with the words - Russia and Georgia are NO FRIENDS! Soviet times are in the past and it will never happen again!
I am from Romania, I visited Georgia in 2022, Tiblisi, Kutaisi, Batumi and other places but also Mestia with a trip to Ushguli and had someone from the Ratiani family as a guide. Thank you for showing me these places that I so much adored. Nature is exceptional there, and the people, and the food :)
Greetings to Romania, I’m Georgian and used to visit Romania 15 to 20 years ago, been in Bucharest, Cluj Napoca, in Constanta, beautiful country saw beautiful churches. I found out that we have few dishes that are similar of course different names but exactly same recipes. I have very good memories from Romania, god bless your country and people! ✌🏻
Gamarjoba Eli! Thank you for sharing this fascinating video of Georgia with it’s beautiful landscapes and friendly people. Outstanding work. Warm greetings and much respect from California! 🤩✌🏻🫶
The elder Svan man was really sweet. With age, we think of the future of others. So, when a lovely, intelligent, and hard working woman stops in for hospitality how could he not see a future with you in it. Having traveled a lot myself, hearth and home, in the long run, are truly better. Best-
Hi Eli. Tom again from Ohio. Great tour of Georgia. Fascinating in many ways. People are so similar everywhere. Love your street conversations with locals. Love getting to know more of the Russian people and their way of life.
Wow Eli, you are such a good person. Keeping your promise and went on a treck just to say hi! That is wonderful. I hope this spirit stays with you all your life.🎉 Georgia is beautiful and Georgians are a great nation with a fantastic culture and need I say wonderful wines.
Keeping promises is also a matter of appropriateness. I for instance don't always keep to all my promises, especially if a person don't remember me of them, which I barely know! But in her situation as a guest of the house and these circumstances I would have tended to act similarly also because of all the positive side effects and opportunities within.
Again a wonderful insight into another region of the world. I can well imagine every father wishing to have Eli as his daughter in law, she is the most beautiful and most amazing woman in the universe. Thank you Eli, for taking us along.
I spent two weeks in Soviet Georgia in the fall of 1985. We were a group of Finnish bird watchers, some of whom were students of geography and biology. We stayed in Batumi and went on trips to nearby areas. It would be interesting to visit Georgia again after almost forty years.
Yeah it's completely different now and if u can visit some time. Also there is many flights to Georgia from all of the europe so it's easy go get here. Cheap one are wizz air but they only flight in kutaisi. We love finnish people and you guys are always welcome here unlike russians. Best wishes
KAABER GOD ALMIGHTY--🙏 CREATOR of all SOULS 🙏😊 Who is complete God? Iyov 36:5 - Orthodox Jewish Bible (OJB) See, El is Kabir, and despiseth, not any; He is Kabir in ko’ach lev (strength of understanding). Translation: Supreme God is Kabir, but despises no one. He is Kabir, and firm in his purpose. In all Bible translations, the word Kabir has been translated as "Mighty" or "Great" whereas Kabir is the original name of Supreme God. Conclusion: This verse of the Bible proves that Kabir is Complete God. The one who worships God Kabir by taking initiation from the complete saint sent by him gets complete salvation. After attaining salvation that souls rest in peace in the eternal abode Satlok forever. The throne of God is in Satlok( ETERNAL PLACE) 😊😊 God Kabir met Jesus and took his soul to Satlok. On their way, God Kabir made him see his ancestors David, Moses, Abraham, etc. in the Pitra Lokas. Then God took him to Satlok❤
@@Bleda412 Russians talk trash about Finland all the time and even call them Nazis on their state media just because they fought against the USSR invasion
🌸 Just a message from the Netherlands to express how much I appreciate and love your genuine interest to explore places and really get to know the people and how you let this determine how your journey unfolds, often in unexpected ways. Thank you so much for tagging us along these beautiful experiences and reminding us that beyond geopolitical, religious, linguistic and cultural “borders”, people connect with people. 🫶🏽 PS. The man at 13:25 is wearing a sweater that says “fietsenstalling”, which is the Dutch word for bicycle storage, so it made me smile to see this gentleman so far away wearing an uniform that people at Dutch train stations that work at these storages usually wear. 😊
Yes of course, but one can try to arrange and plan her/his life in a way, that another change of the place or country you live in become possible. I always thought about living about half of the year in one place and the other half in another. But if course it's (much) easier said, than it is done. But you also have to be quite open minded and cosmopolitan. The main power that drives to overcome all obstacles is the wish to have a certain change in your live. But I don't like the the usual overextended, rather somehow idealising expectations of many people and Iam lucky to be in a distance of it. Eli often thematisized it and I can only share that point of view.
Hi Eli, I have just discovered you here, your English is very good I shall subscribe to you, it’s very interesting to see countries of the former USSR, I have learned that most of the older generations of these countries prefer to have remained so, but the younger generations can see more opportunities through independence, it’s very uplifting that you feel safe travelling on your own, in the west it can be quite dangerous for a lone female to travel without incident, it must mean that the people of Georgia are very respectful, thank you for a very pleasant view of your journey ❤
Youre a very qualified story teller, i like your style, smile, humour n sincerity. Most of all you are fair in your interactions when you talk to people, no matter who or where they live or come from. Take care n stay safe.
Great job! As a teacher of English I'm very happy to watch your video and hear your beautiful English. At the times of political unrest it's wonderful to watch such types of video. Вы - большая умница!
Eli, i am humble and proud to consider you a kindred human spirit. A friend who i have never met. The way you treated Givi with compassion, empathy, and humor shows what an amazing person you are. Here's to many more adventures and people that you meet getting to share in the light you spread everywhere you go! 😊
Your videos are great because you show things how they are in a simple manner. Every video is a gem in itself and a special moment for us when we watch it. Thank you for posting.
What a beautiful country! I doubt that I will ever make it over there to explore for myself, so thank you for letting us visit through your and your camera.
Eli: You have mastered the art of travel videos! This has been another educational, entertaining and insightful video! As always, the cinematography captured the beauty of the location. Your interactions with locals are a charming introduction to the local culture for all your viewers. Keep up the great work!
Hi Eli, I am from Singapore and I have been watching your videos and they are getting better and better! Thanks for showing us all these wonderful and interesting places and people which I personally will never have a chance to visit and interact with! Also, much admiration to you for traveling so extensively on your own as a woman! Stay safe and keep it going! 😊❤
I very much liked this video but was also moved a lot by the outro. Yes, friendship is key. Let us always protect it and strive for it where it's in need.
I must admit, waking up Saturday mornings and seeing that there is a new Eli video that I may enjoy while having my morning tea has become one of the highlights of my week. edit: grammar.
How nice to see you in Tbilisi! I need to go back, because we didn't make it to Svanetia. It was a very nice holiday, Tbilisi, Mtskheta, Gori, Borjomi and Batumi. My wife made me learn the Georgian alphabet so that we know where the buses go to. I even tried to lean some Georgian, but after asking "do you have milk?" - tkven rdze gqawt? - I gave up. We found out that they speak good English in Tbilisi, but on the beaches of Batumi, you're better off with Russian.
Thank you very much Eli for this awesome video about Georgia, a country that I woul like to visit! I think that it is very different from Russia, as it looks like more an European country! Georgian people are nice and those kids were so cute. The drone shots were amazing and the surrounding nature gorgeous. Merry Christmas Eli ❤🌲⭐️
From the perspective of a Georgian person it’s the worst traveling video ever. what have you learned from it? She couldn’t find anything interesting to see but a shitty buildings and its yard😂 in the city where there are so many ancient monuments and so many things to see, isn’t it ridiculous 😂😂 All in all there are so many errors in this video! I’d write a sum up comment but for some reason she turned off the comments 🤷🏼♀️
@@user-anadgob Yes, it is. And you forgot all about North Caucasus, and far east, which are part of Russia, Kadirov ring a bell? Russia is way bigger than Moscow and Peter.

to me this is the best video Ive seen thus far, thank you Eli, you have a big heart...greetings from USA & Hawaii...I hope someday you can visit here too, thank you for sharing different cultures with us 🥰
The best video ever! My Russian professor was married to a Georgian who knew quite a bit about "Svaneti" -- she was a great cook. I hope Georgia remains free, though their politicians are looking at the EU!!! I have a Russian friend whose family has a home outside of Tblisi, and my niece was lucky enough to visit! It may be "poor" in money, but such a beautiful country and people.
What do you mean we remain free?🤡 Russia keeps moving their border everyday, we need west and we have had deep ties with Europe since the ancient Greeks
I feel like half the people that prefer the USSR might only prefer it because they have fond memories of being young. It's like every generation reminisces about their youth and thinks the time they grew up in was the best.
bullshit! we had industries everyone had his job, today we have not industry and we are slaves! cheap workers in europe! georgia is american puppet slave country we have not nothing
no stop with that young bullshit . older people prefer USSR because back then you had free education, health care , housing ,people were friends with eact other and the're was a sense of peace and security for the future. now you cant find any of them in all capitalist countries
Eli, I disagree with you about Kutaisi. It's well worth spending a few hours there. You should have seen the weird all-glass-made Georgian Parliament building. Did you know that Sakashvili moved the Georgian Parliament to Kutaisi, making this town a half-capital of Georgia? The building was abandonned a few years later. I also enjoyed the Bagrati Cathedral above the center of the town and the Gelati monastery east of the town. We were housed in Tskaltubo, 14 km from Kutaisi which used to be a huge military sanatorium complex destined for military families. Now part of it is beautifully restored and used as a hotel. The rooms and halls are luxuorusly ornated in Russian-Soviet style. 😍🤩
Eli, what an x-mas gift. My plans to explore Georgia this summer didn't fit the schedule. So now I know what I will definitely do next year, no matter what. Kind and humble people with strong family values, close to nature, low and easy taxes and super business friendly for builders and risk-takers. This region seems just like the Swiss alps and if Georgia manages to stay independent, it could well become the next Switzerland. Same story of poverty, violence and struggle to self-govern their land.
Thanks for the video. I'll be going for a month at the end of February. I've been to Tbilisi, but wasn't in country long enough to see much more than that. This video gives me ideas of places to visit.
as a georgian of younger generation, i was always told stories of the ussr, My grandma told me that even though people were very close back then, it was very hard to have or express your own opinions. She told me that everyone was always scared and careful when talking because if you had any different opinions you would get captured and shot to death as well as your family members being punished. Also, She told me that back then the ussr goverment wanted to raise kids with the same opinion, so that they were easy to control, children were taught limited stuff at school, even speaking your thoughts was not legal in school (as i have said above you would be punished for it), nowadays i can freely express my thoughts in school. the ussr didnt believe in religion and as you know georgia is a very orthodox christian country, this was also a huge problem, as well as the fact that ussr wanted to completely get rid of georgian lenguage and ban it from being taught in school, thankfully a lot of georgians opposed this. there were other sad and aweful stories i was told by not only my grandma but other older family members, in conclusion, ussr was AWEFUL, but the sad part is that there are some older people in georgia who still believe that ussr was better than the state our country is in nowadays.
Your thoughtful nature will always be rewarded ! Sometimes the SIMPLE things in life, can be VERY Rewarding ! Good work Eli ! And Love from Australia ✈🦘🇦🇺🌹
I don't understand why youtubers love to show the Soviet era buildings. There are more interesting things to see in Georgia than the Soviet era buildings.
Respect Eli, hiking 60 km through the mountains just to say hello and of course keep a promise. But on this way you gave us the opportunity to see the beauty of Georgian mountains. This region is like from another time. What an experience.
Very diplomatic touch there, moving from North Ossetia in RF and not mentioning South Ossetia which is controlled by Moscow, even if part of Georgia. It's important not to shy away from history so worth mentioning the Georgian mafia in post USSR, but the real criminals were those who stole state assets in the 90s and are now the oligarchs keeping V.V.P. in power. Equally it's good to note that the mafia are no longer an influence and Georgia is moving towards a western liberal democracy, something Ukraine was doing up to Feb 2022.
Yesss finally some footage of the mysterious land of Gerogia! I learned about this country through the MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) fighters from Georgia that compete in the UFC the biggest MMA organization in the world and the Georgians have some of the best fighters in the top 15 rankings in many weight classes and competing for titles which is no easy feat to do such as Merab Dvalishvili for example one of the nicest skilled guys in the UFC!
What a beautiful country and beautiful people! What you say at the end... it seems all of us normal people all over the world just want to live in peace and be friends.
OMG!!!! I've watched TONS of videos like this but yours is absolutely the BEST! Thank you, thank you from Minnesota (USA)! Amazing filming, story, interactions, etc. Brushing up on my Russian. Love your stuff!
Thank you, Eli! You are an outstanding filmaker and ambassador for Russia. Viewing your videos have enriched my life while I am certain many other people have and will too. Education and exposure are paths to increasing friendship and eliminating artificial barriers to our collective benefits globally. Cheers to you and best wishes to boundless future success.
I liked the video. Thanks for the work. one small remark. The little boy from Kutaisi is not called Andrey, not a Russian name, but Andria. Andria is a saint, he is the brother of Peter of the 12 apostles of Christ. Andria was one of the first to investigate Christianity in Georgia. so his name is very popular in Georgia.
I was a bit annoyed with Eli in this video as she completely ignores the fact Russia had tried to invade Georgia and goes around asking everyone she meets if they speak Russian as if surprised. There is a good reason why Georgians no longer learn Russian at school. The same is happening in Ukraine right now, where they are taking down Russian statues, and changing Russian street names, and Ukrainian schools are teaching English instead of Russian. Georgia - Ukraine - same relationship with Russia. Although Russian people are welcome in Georgia as they realize it is not Russian people at fault, like Eli, but Putin. At some point in Eli's life, she must realize the harm Putin is doing to Russia otherwise she wouldn't go around Georgia asking everyone she meets if they speak Russian.
Most people in Georgia before 1990 were required to learn Russian by the USSR, but they resisted Russification and also maintained their native language. Unlike Belarus and parts of Ukraine and Moldova

I found that this video was very much focused on what peoples thought were on living in current or USSR times… fair enough but, you did not once ask a young person about what they prefer and want for the their future, your answer would have been very very different. Russians are more than welcome here but we don’t, and we couldn’t express this anymore we don’t want Russia, USSR or anything that is associated to it.
