A bike with a yellow plate cannot be a stolen one. It is registered as a commercial vehicle. The reason you see lesser mileage is cause the rentals will losen up the speedometer wire that way the kms dont show up on meter. It is easier for them to get customers for lesser mileage indicating motorbikes.

Amazing! When I visited Goa in 1984 it was completely undeveloped and I slept in a little hut by the beach with no facilities and bathed in the sea and ate what ever I could buy from the locals. In Margoa I stayed in the rooms above the train station, which was a thing then. Very posh rooms relatively speaking and very spacious, a legacy of the British travelling everywhere by train.

@@well_said7846I am not so sure of that and the locals will cry if you ask them. The population doubled soon after India took over and every Indian wants to live in Goa. Ironic that the RSS wants to destroy everything Western in Goa, those "Portuguese bad guys". It is a constant fight to stop unchecked and checked development. Checked development from CORRUPTION. Corruption is what India is famous for! Every politician can be bribed to folk in the government from the top to the bottom. Everything works on Corruption. You don't realize this until you try to live there. The North Indians are different culturally in that they dominate in their culture and mannerisms. They come in build tearing down all the trees and vegetation. They come in and build their ostentatious buildings which do not blend with the quaint villages and then they but up these huge walls surrounding their properties which is not what the houses of Goa have as it is about community living together in the village. The locals will tell you that Goa has been 'destroyed' in the last 25 years. They can't stop the billion Indians next door from moving into Goa. As of a few years ago the locals are officially a minority as they are less than 50% of the population. Hindi with is not their language but us now being spoken everywhere especially in the North and Bollywood music is heard blasting from all the homes. The people of Goa have their own music, language and cuisine which is completely different from North India. I think in time Goa will just be like one big major city like Delhi. One cannot stop anyone from the rest of India moving and buying property from the rest of India. And with a billion people that want to do that Goa will not last long. It is a constant fight with the locals who live miserably trying to stop the property developers from Gujarat and Punjab. If you know anything about those two communities they are very effective at getting their way. Grease a few palms and they are in. No hope.

Welcome to Goa, Monika and Freddie. The summers are rather cooler here this year. But based on what I've experienced in the last two years, it's the second half of March and the temperatures could kick up to the upper 30s celsius. So be prepared cause it tends to catch you off-guard. It also gets a lot dusty than you'd be comfortable with. So sunscreen and a scarf are good to have. Another trick is to keep a cola drink at home with the fizziness all shook out. That's a useful first aid to deal with food poisoning. Just another trick learned for the locals here. Hope you two never needed it, knock on wood.

This is the first time I'm watching your vlog Freddie. Absolutely no regrets!! I really like your style of narration and the way your partner (Monica) actually films the whole thing. Ironically, most of the Goans who have left Goa, did so because they were also entitled to Portuguese citizenship (with a cut off as far as their date of birth is/was concerned) and then went on to eventually shift to England (Swindon in particular), with Portugal being a stepping stone. Do remember though that wasn't the norm. Or was it? Someone out there can correct me. That however, has led to a decrease in the number of Christians in Goa, coupled with a big migration of people from the rest of India into Goa for opportunities. Be that as it may, I love Goa, and I mean it. Just about everything. Place, people, food (Catholic as well as Saraswat, the two main "cooking styles" of Goa), vibe. All of it. As an aside the Morris and the Merc, ooh lala... Spoiler alert: I'm not Goan. Waiting for your other videos...

Such a cozy vlog :) ! Same Goan who commented on another video. Brief history: the Portuguese inquisition in the 15th century was considered one of the most violent inquisitions in Catholic history. Hindus from the Bijapur sultanate initially welcomed the Portuguese to use the port, but the Portuguese soon showed them what a mistake they had made. They defeated the Bijapur sultanate and annexed Goa, and later enacted strict anti-Hindu / Brahman / Jain laws to end what the Catholics considered to be heretical conduct and to encourage conversions to Christianity. One such law was that - 'reporting a neighbor of praying to idols' would have the accused evicted from his own home, and half his property would be given to the inquisitor, and have to the one who filed the complaint. This led to a lot of false claims due to greed and revenge. Some Hindus were also burned in public, some were made concubines, some into slaves... My mother is from Karnataka, and speaks the same language, that's because her ancestors fled the oppression in Goa. Many Hindus still practiced their faith in secret, and when Goa was liberated many practiced their faith openly again. I'm Catholic myself, but that's perhaps because my ancestors were left with little choice. Many Goans themselves don't know the history, because most records were burned in the 18th century, and by the time Goa was liberated there was a level or corporation and stability between the Portuguese & Goans. Some Goans can be overly proud of Portuguese heritage, flaunting their Portuguese passports / mixed culture, while some like myself are happy to see Goa / India reclaim their former autonomy. Regarding British India: though the rule was far shorter, it's what dismantled India. Pre-invasion, India owned ~24.4% of the global GDP as one of the richest places in the world, after the British left it was only ~3-4%, as India had been looted and drained of all her resources. India used to be known as a powerhouse for textiles, metal working, swords / weapons that were both deadly and ornamental, spices, pottery, arts, and wood working (India built some of the best ships for its time that lasted 20 years). There were elaborate trade routes that enabled India to establish world (Asian) trade. But when the British left only 1% of India was considered employed. A less talked about issue as well is that the British rule led to over 5x more 'preventable' deaths than the Jewish Holocaust, as all produce was shipped off as world war rations / and distribution issues created famine, all while droughts hit. It is estimated Britain took / owes India an estimated $45 Trillion USD in total. ($45,000,000,000,000) While no modern day British person is responsible for the atrocities of the past, during a time that was generally barbaric and ripe with conquest, it's good to know history. It adds to the understanding of why India still has widespread poverty (remember this was only 77 years ago), or why it can be disorganized, a certain lack of education, or why the architecture / arts of the past ended up being largely lost. I am a History / Science nerd, these objective and historical accounts bear no ill feelings in the present, and no hostility what so over, so I hope it doesn't come across that way. I loved every minute of seeing you both enjoy my hometown. The videos and videography is so soothing. As a fellow biker, and Goan, this brings me joy. Enjoy the rest of your stay and looking forward to more videos 💜

😂😂😂 the Portuguese inquisition lasted 300 years and killed 200 goans. The most violent ya right. My people have suffered from much more under the BJP. Look at the bright side. 1. Christianity crushed casteism. Well not entirely but to a large extent. All cast had one church and worshiped together. 2. The Portuguese taught us many things. They created most of the infra that still stands !!! 3. Better gutter system, to avoid water coughing. 4. They created something called command land or comunidad land reserved for people who didn't have any. (What now the politicians are selling) 5. We get Portuguese passports, where any gaon can start a new life in a euro country. (We got this by registering our birth in Portugal, because Portugal still thinks we r their citizens)

@@theunknown2090 The audacity! They literally blockaded villages and disrupted food supply so as to starve the villagers into accepting Christianity. Never been to Goa but I come from a place called Shillong, Meghalaya (aka Scotland of the East, another motorcycling heaven, do look it up!). Never owned an RE but I do wish to; although I did some cafe hopping on a Honda CB 350, all inspired from you guys! Cheers and enjoy your time!

Sold my Harley and a Pan European 1300 because I fell in love with a classic 350 that I test rode. Bought the 350 and it’s now my beautiful sole mate. A keeper.

That Morris is from the mid 50s. One of the early Morris Minors. (Not the very first model, that had the headlights low down in the wings, but soon after that one. If you had lifted the tarpaulin you would have seen a split windscreen). Probably about 30 years oder than the Mercedes.

I'm Portuguese, 72 years old. I remember learning in my childood school, that Goa was a "province" of Portugal as Madeira , Azores and Macau. I remembrer to tour in Porto in a Morris Minor, from my family, here in Portugal. I also remember, back in the past, to travel several times in a very luxurious 1966 Mercedes 200 with a pearl white steering wheel and a wooden dash. And I prowdly own now, the "better bike" in the world: a 2018 Royal Enfield Classic 500 euro 4. with 35000km.

Hey Freddie, well 'patina' seems like an understatement 😅 the amount of rust on the exhaust is appalling! Being a proud Enfield owner, here's few tips. 1) if the bike has drum brakes at the back its older than 2017 2) if it's having issues starting, check your air filter ( and looking at the state of your bike, even the engine oil ). Enfields have been used as tourist workhorses and are sometimes treated as such. Yours appears to be a 2018 model, as far as the mileage is concerned, the odometer can be disconnected without any tools. There's a single cable going from your throttle to the front wheel, right next to the disc, you can literally just loosen up the screw there and the odo stops ! I suspect that bike has done atleast 30k ! But don't worry, its reliable :) enjoy goa !

Watching your video first time and thoroughly enjoyed!! Well done for such a balanced and proportionate presentation. There are some amazing sea food restaurants & old temples which you should explore. Have been to Goa, however given your presentation tempted to explore bikes. Did you find roads safe enough? BTW,is Monica invisible?

Hi Freddie, I used to ride from Mumbai/Pune to Goa back in 2005-08 on my HH CBZ 150. I always used to lunch at a local fisherman's hut. He used to catch local fish from his naav/hodi/boat and serve fresh food back then just for Rs. 30 for a fish thali (food serve). It was enroute from Baga towards Calangute! Goa was much different - empty , raw and beautiful back then. I haven't visited in years now and it looks different a lot!

Hey Freddy, the house you showed us is mostly one that’s built in the 70s or 80s but won’t be before the Portuguese left.. the old houses have distinct features which you will notice once you see a lot of them. Waiting for you to come down south to show you some really cool houses and places.
