Wow! Don't go running threw that landscape in the dark. I didn't realize those cactus are so slow-growing. My family and I are taking a trip to AZ next week (1st time).

Welcome to Arizona! Running through the desert is definitely not recommended! Ha! Learned the hard way as a kid!

I found this video by searching RU-vid for anything and everything on the Sonoran Desert. I am very much looking forward to parts 2, 3, 4 ..... and however many other videos you make on the Sonoran Desert. Can't wait to see more - especially Sonoran wildlife!

Absolutely beautiful. Thank you so much for capturing the stunning gracefulness of the harsh landscape. I went to school in Tucson and had the chance to go to the Sonoran Desert Museum often. It's such a misunderstood environment that's most appreciated up close. Best of luck. I'll be sharing this often.

Some great scenic shots Alan and interesting info. I had no idea it takes the cactus a century to grow to their first arms!

Thanks Timon! Right? Its crazy to me how long it takes to grow their first arm and that they can be 200 years old or more!

Thanks for the video! Maybe you've already seen it, but I would suggest watching Desert Dreams - Celebrating Five Seasons in the Sonoran Desert by Thomas Wiewandt. It contains some really beautiful shots of the area.

Hey Alan, another stunning video packed with so much information. I myself, am a beginner film maker and what I would love to see is if you could really break the process down, name the type of shots (eg. where the drone is moving forward and slowly pans up, what is that called? Where would you use it?) Cant wait to see and learn from the rest of your videos. Keep up the good work.

That is a fantastic idea, thank you for inspiration. I appreciate the feedback as it helps me craft ideas that can be the most helpful and effective for people to learn how it all works and comes together in a program. I like this idea and will put something together here in the near future!

Great footage Alan, obviously taken with quality gear. A lot of RU-vidr's have a gear list with affiliate links when possible to help monetize their efforts. You might consider doing the same? I for one would want to know more about that off camera monitor you are using as looking at the tiny camera monitor is becoming more difficult as my eyes age at age 55 now especially when out in bright sunlight....
@FilmingTheWild
@FilmingTheWild 3 года назад
Thanks Joel, a great suggestion. I have thought about it but didn't want to come off as too presumptuous, but I may look into that and see what affiliate link stuff takes to get going. I use the Atomos Ninja V as it also has a record function that can handle the RAW 16bit output from the A7s-III - which means insane dynamic range capabilities. :) As a monitor it is also fantastic and is fairly bright in sunlight conditions. There are plenty of other systems that are solely monitors that are cheaper however and have some great capability as a monitor, for example Small HD. :)
@Joel-McConnell
@Joel-McConnell 3 года назад
@@FilmingTheWild Ok, thanks! You have a lot of nice gear. I could not justify such prices yet. I did buy, last night, a $150 Feelworld touchscreen monitor and a small shotgun mic to get better sound. Going to see how those work for me? Those and when I get my new fluid head should level up my game a bit. If I grow beyond that and stick with it I will consider better gear at that time......
@FilmingTheWild

@@Joel-McConnell It's not always in the gear you have but in how you use it :)

Sir how to write narrations for ( voice over)or story for wildlife documentary
@FilmingTheWild
@FilmingTheWild 2 года назад
The biggest thing is to consider your story and then write to story by filing in as little as you need. Too much can get to wordy! Thanks for the suggestion, I'll put a video together on this soon!

The music is way too loud while the narration is too soft. I had to turn the sound way up in order to understand your speech, but then the music was super annoying. Finally I gave up halfway through. The production quality looks great otherwise.
