Life update from Bangalore - Annika wouldn't let me vlog anymore

In Feb this year, we drove to Bangalore from our home in Kannur, Kerala. It had been 3 years since I was last in this city. Bangalore is my favourite metro city in india and I had been yearning to visit it since a long time. I thought I'd make a video about our travels, my favourite places to visit, restaurants etc. but little did I know that Annika had different plans. I could barely leave the room or film. She's about to turn 2 and parenting is getting increasingly difficult. So I decided to take it slow and barely filmed anything. I did capture my attempts to vlog though, which looking back, is quite hilarious :)

Well, it’s still a long time for that especially considering work and that RU-vid (algorithm and all) won’t wait until she’s big enough. 😅 But i of course do also love my time with her and watching her grow even if it is quite challenging! That’s why I dont want to leave her with someone else all day long so I could have more time for myself. So even if it is challenging, I’m the one who has chosen to be taking care of her 😊❤️

She is so cute, I enjoyed watching her talk on the phone.She just goes, and goes, and goes. I remember someone saying to me when my kids were small that “ these are the best days of your life” I thought oh no I am so exhausted, it’s got to get better. But watching your busy little girl was very enjoyable. You do well to slow down when you can. Thanks for the treat

I’m sure that it’ll get better someday, but someday still seems pretty far being sleep deprived for 2 years and Annika only becoming more challenging to keep up with 😂❤ of course some days have some of the best MOMENTS in my life, but i think it really depends on a child’s and parents’ personality and experiences what will actually be the best days of life. But i think it’d be better to ditch that kind of thinking and just think that some moments are always great, some terrible and it keeps changing 😊 and even if some period is a huge struggle that doesnt mean the parent doesnt enjoy many moments in it too or isn’t happy and absolutely loving their child! Rant over, hope i was able to make sense as i’m just quickly typing on the phone as Annika needs me soon 😅

Well, work doesnt really wait otherwise all working parents could stay at home with their kids! And especially the RU-vid algorithm doesnt wait, even for anything longer than a week which I can clearly see whenever I have to have a longer gap in posting. After a week’s gap even less of subscribers watch new videos. 😟 even though of course some of the most loyal viewers always watch a new video on the same day it’s posted 😉 Anyways, of course I also do love my time with Annika, and I’m the one who mostly chooses to be with her at home ❤ It’s just sad if I have to lose what I’ve spent years building!

Reminds me of my conversations with my grandson who lives in faraway Australia..my daughter gives her phone and he goes around showing his new toy or the new storybook ..he is 5..so has started going to school this year, so stories about his friends, etc...sometimes he goes on an on and we cannot understand but still just love to hear him talk😀😍

It’ll still be at least a year and that’s a pretty long time to not get to put effort into your work that’s the main income which is all about views and the algorithm depends on being super active 😟 but of course i do also love spending time with Annika and watching her being silly, funny and smart, finding it also tough doesnt mean i dont ❤

It must be tough to find a balance between time to do (income generating) work and time with Annika. But she would also benefit from time with another loving adult and/or other children say a couple of afternoons a week. When you get back home maybe you could find a nice nanny who could give you a few hours respite? Annika is such a bright spark she needs lots of stimulation and attention perhaps too much for one person to provide. Xxx

@@fransa6 Annika plays with other kids almost every day and spends 3-4hrs with our maid or grandparents when they’re here and we’re not travelling 😊 but i cant put all those hours into (income generating) work as I have a gazillion things to do when Annika isn’t attached to my hip and not letting me multitask (like showering, exercise and me-time, cooking..) 😮‍💨

19 months tantrums have started here too, and using the word no all the time…..tantrums are really bad sometimes brushing teeth can be a struggle.

@@nicolepilgrim3142 Annika wasn’t enjoying brushing either but I have a few tricks that helped: first i started counting 1 2 3 while brushing and then taking the brush out of her mouth. Brush back in, 1 2 3 and brush out again. Repeat until ready. There’s also lots of good brushing songs on RU-vid. And we also recently got her a electric brush which she likes and it also makes the brushing quicker and more efficient when she’s not in the mood 😊

And I'm full of admiration for you Johanna as I don't think I could manage with being so wiped out. Sounds like u like all those big Indian cities and always happy to show Annika the culture of the big cities. I have to admit Johanna I'm not that way inclined at all. I would be the sort of person who would want the husband and to go on his own to the big cities whilst I stayed in a tropical Indian place with a child as I can't bear being indoors all day esp with a little one and yer ya kind of have to be indoors in the bigger cities at times. I know as iv also been to the bigger Indian cities. Great vlog and looking forward to seeing you all out in Bangalore on the next vlog. Ps Annika is soooooo multilingual ❤ pps my channel is going through major changes in terms of tech and I have a family member who is not very well so I'm also really struggling to get vlogs out. I enjoy visiting the big cities every now and then when we travel because it’s a nice change from being at home in a rather secluded place in the middle of jungle, where we dont get that kind of a selection of services, activities and such what’s there in the big cities 😊 having to shop online always or having very less activities is a downside of living where we live. This is not like Goa or Varkala or anything like that. 😄 But I think it’s quite evident from my videos that we all LOVE being out in the nature, at the beach, in the mountains.. at the same time I can also enjoy those visits to the big cities because I like a huge variety of different types of things! I also dont want to stay home alone with Annika when Vinod goes on longer work trips, because it’s not very easy for me to manage daily life here alone without (Vinod’s) help 😊

@@JohannaNorth you really do have a good temperament to be indoors so much with Annika whilst Vinod is out at work. There's no choice but to stay inside in such big cities at times, esp if you are on your own with a little one. But you manage it so well and at least you like those cities and can access shops etc. I personally couldn't handle being indoors so much amongst a crazy city and nor could I manage living in the middle of nowhere in a jungle! You are doing BRILLIANTLY Johanna and you seem fine about it all. My Indian dreams are outdoor life amongst beaches and mountains.

@@travellingyoginikas i can assure you there are often many things that i am not fine with at all, but in the end nothing is perfect and you just have to make peace with it and look at the bigger picture. I think we all need to sometimes make compromises and there’s also circumstances that one can do nothing about. So people, like now me, adjust and try to make the best of it 😊 even living in the middle of nature, we dont really get to go out during the day when it’s way too hot and humid and there’s nothing around for shade and a good cooling break and moving between places by foot takes a long time. Do I like spending the whole day inside our house? Absolutely not, but my life would be much worse if I dwelled on that as a misery since I cant do anything about where we live. Of course I sometimes go crazy because of it and think my life is such endless misery but then I try to again focus on the bigger picture, which is that I live a very privileged life even as it is right now, and especially for our 10- even 5-year plans!😊

@@JohannaNorth you have such strength of character and positivity 💪 during my 3 year solo trip to India I practically lived outdoors even on lockdown!!!! I guess thats because I was in places such as Varkala, Gokarna and the Himalayas. Each day every day I had people around me and I miss that so much now. I guess my experience of India was somewhat different to yours. Well done for focusing on the bigger picture dear. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ I'm in England now and don't have the Indian lifestyle that I yern for My mother is very sick with cancer so I need to be in the UK now.

Its not my place to say but if the Almighty granted annika a sibling she wud interact and play with bro or sister. And not demand her mum s attention so much. I have experience from friends who had an only child had everything a child could wish for and yet she was always looking for company and my heart went out to her. I do understand children are a divine gift so dont mean to offend parents.

I’m not offended as you seem to very well realise this might be offensive and try very hard not to be so! 🙏 but we don’t want and are not having more kids for a plethora of reasons and I think that should be respected. Kids dont necessarily need siblings but what they absolutely must have is happy, loving, healthy and caring parents, which we would not be able to be with more kids. Annika does have friends and cousins of her own age and she plays with other kids almost every day happily 😊
