Seeing the fear in the lifeguards as they fought to save that woman is just haunting. You can see it in their eyes that they were all thinking “this can’t happen again”. I still feel so bad for them and I know this took place years and years ago. I imagine something like that never really leaves you.

Yes! I was a lifeguard for several years and I trained for water front, we are told that if we have the ability to at the time we can start cpr on a board. It's not ideal because it's not a hard surface like the ground but it at least does something.

This makes me so emotional. I haven't drowned but I suffer from addiction and Ive overdosed a few times, but there was one time that was an absolute mirical. My ex rushed me to the hospital, I had already been dead around 20 minutes but the whole time my other ex was doing cpr on the way to hospital. I got to hospital and they did everything they possibly could to save me but it wasn't enough so the doctors and nurses stopped working on me started to call time of death when out of nowhere I opened my eyes. I will never forget what the doctor said, how he said it and the tone of his voice "There she is! We were just about to call time of death" I'm 14 months sober and don't plan on ever going back to that life. I've wasted enough time, been through to many traumatic situations to ever pick up drugs again. I won't waste the rest of the time I have left on this earth on something so stupid.

Did Harries just say, "awww, they got nothing except a set of teeth on them"???? 🤣😂 Freaking HILARIOUS! I love Harries...just an all around good being. When I heard him say he heard him yelling, "Not again...not again!" my heart went out to him. It's so sad that the family from Mongolia who had just moved to Australia the week before, who lost the dad/husband, had to go back to Mongolia to family because the breadwinner was gone. I guess staying even if they could financially, would have been too painful to live around anyway. Heavy heart here.

That relief of hearing someone gasp for air and to see their eyes respond as they come back is hard to put into words. I work at a community Senior Center and recently in the last few days had to help an elderly lady who was choking; she was blue going black and I seen her eyes fix and lose their life. I don’t doubt she saw the otherside, and I’ve never experienced that before and seeing someone go and come back is surreal and such a rush of fear, and hopelessness, thinking you can’t help them and then relief and shock as it sets in they will be fine.

Nurses and doctors feel the same feelings. I totally love watching this. We all do similar work. But the hard part is you putting your bodies out into dangerous waters to pull these patients back. I am in so much awe and respect for you life guards. Thank you so so much!

Wow. Very powerful episode of the Mongolian professor who drowned. Very heavy sadness and sobering learning experience. What a loving family to have responded in that way, so thoughtful of the feelings of others and having made such a kind effort to thank and encourage them. The best Lifeguards EVER! These pros work miracles. I can sympathize with their recent loss, it’s always hard. I’ve done plenty of codes, but never in the water or under those conditions- these boys and girls are tough! The advent of the AED has been a game changer. I was honored to do the early work with implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICD’s) and helped in a small way bring that technology to market. I’ll have to say these LIFEGUARDS use impeccable, real-world technique. They not only can follow protocols to perfection, they can improvise on the fly - do CPR IN THE WATER, continue on the beach and bring LIFE back to the victims! AWESOME, INCREDIBLE and SO AMAZING! I would feel fully confident to run a code next to these HEROES of the FIRST WATER!

Half of the people are concerned and emotionally involved (a human instinct), the other half are there for a show (a much less noble human instinct). The latter half are the kind of sickos who slow down for an auto accident in hopes of seeing gore - very primitive and juvenile. The latter half filled the stadiums for gladiatorial combat and to see humans get eaten by lions! Budding psychopaths and non-contributors. The former group wishes they could help and do something useful. Their hearts are in the right place.

@@bobbwest Yepp, my partner and I were at the beach and just got in the car. Then he saw an older lady fall of the ledge onto the sand (about a 5ft drop). I got out the car and checked after her told me and she was lay on the sand. This was during lockdown in NZ, so many people came up and I had kept my distance but figured she had injured her hip. Called the ambulance but people were so kind to come up even though we were already there an asking if she was okay. We had a nurse come up too and she was more useful because I hadn’t been vaccinated yet and was a bit sick, so I wanted to keep my distance as much as I wanted to just go up to her. Turns out she did break her hip and after about 40 minutes the ambulance came. I hope she’s okay now, but people that do surround or come over usually are just wanting to make sure they’re okay. I could’ve left but I stayed till the end to make sure she was okay, but you do get people who just look for the drama or like you said the gore or it which is horrible.

Insane rescue! I couldn’t imagine going through something like that as the person or the lifeguards especially what happened a few days before. You all should be so proud of yourself, it would be an incredibly hard job but a job that’s worth doing. I’m so sad that the show has stopped though, maybe one day I’ll visit from NZ and meet some of you. But I will NOT be going into the water unless it’s up to my ankles hahaha

That has to be hard they are so hard on themselves when someone passes and they don’t think about all the thousands they saved but it’s the ones they lose they think of that .It shows just how pure hearted and how truly blessed bec God is truly watching over these guys, these amazing Lifeguards . My friend passed away on his 15th birthday because his birthday candles lit the couch on fire and caused the building to be on fire. His mother who tried to extinguish the fire passed away as well. His younger brother survived.

I agree, they could’ve dried her off and put the things under or around her top, they did not have to take it off like that. If that was me I’d be grateful to be alive but I would feel so exposed and traumatised from having hundreds of people watch my naked boobs while being resuscitated, and having so many men touch me while doing so. These guys do save lives and hats off to them but this was not it.

Best swimmers are from other beaches… all that tells me is they didn’t have the guts to work the chaos of Bondi 🤪 either way at any beach across Australia and the world thank you to all the lifeguards and volunteers for keeping us safe 💕
