Going over the process of installing a lift on my 1998 Nissan Pathfinder SE (R50 platform) with 2" spacers from SFCreation sfcreation.com/ Wheels are Pro Comp 51-5883 Tires are BFGoodrich K02 in 31 x 10.5 x 15
Good work. Decent noob mechanic tips included that might save folks work. Recently did my struts, and will basically be redoing for the 1" sf kit. Wanted tips for the rear .... but I think you gave enough to make it easier. Got fresh oem springs for the rear and am fitting 285/75r16 (33") on steelies .... trimming plastic and cutting metal/fixing rust. Eventually steel winch bumper by son and me. Probably hubs and welded front. Lokka rear (Tyler) 🤟 ... anyway ... great video
I have a question. I want to raise mine a couple of inches. and the question here would be. Can I just buy that kit you have to be able to lift the truck without having to change the shock and the spring? and if I want to put the shock and the bigger springs. So going up from 2 to 3 inches I no longer need that kit?
I did 2" AC springs with an extra 1" spacer up front on my '96 . Bilstien 5100's all new front brakes with Powerstop rotors . Steel wheels and 32" STT's . Fun little truck !
Beautiful Pathfinder, the vehicle looks great with that lift. I personally would have bought new struts to go with the spacers but nice work nonetheless.
Just take the nut out of the panhard at the axle. It is super easy and the bar pops right off. Anyways, I put their 1.5" front spacers on mine and the passenger axle is slinging grease everywhere now and the axle is binding. Maybe I won't be lifting the front of mine after all. Be easier to just remove them and go back to stock height in the front.
Everything was going alright until you get to 9:27,you cut out some of the most important aspects with assembly and taking the spring and spindle, or when you assemble, certain things have to line up when you put the shit back on, sorry, I don't get it, no I have to watch someone else's rendition of putting spacers on a completely different way than you did...
Great guide video, hope to do similar on my '99 E50 Elgrand(JDM MPV relative to Pathfinder)will probably fabricate steel spacers cos I can and enjoy the challenge of making stuff😉😉what were the adjustment bolts you talked about at start?🤔
Its called a camber bolt. Its just a bolt that replaces the factory strut-to-spindle bolt. It has a lobe on it and when you turn the bolt it moves the strut in order to change the camber.
yes there is, but I'm unsure of the number. Its usually a big number for those sort of bolts. something like 100 - 120 ft lbs. I just tightened them down really well with a breaker bar.
Great, thank you. Also i was breaking my head whether how should i put the spacer in. With the lip of spacer up? Or should i put it with lip down. I would be really afraid if spring came off.
That is are mint looking R50 Pathfinder, I own one myself I bought it new 24 years ago and it's still going strong that VG33E engine is super reliable.
Hello! Just wanted to ask what are your tires and wheel specs? I really like your set up and how the pathfinder stands. Just got a 99 LE and was wondering if I can use the stock wheels with those tires and probably go with those spacers too. Thank you for the information and I will be following your progress 😊
Thanks for watching. My wheels are Pro Comp part number 51-5883. 15x8 with 3.75 backspacing. The tires are BFG K02 31x10.5x15. I'm not sure if you can use the stock wheels or not. The tires will likely fit, but the stock wheels are probably not 8 inches wide so it might look goofy. You're better off picking up a set of aftermarket wheels. The pro comp ones I have are very cheap at $62 per wheel.
Great video thanks for uploading. I just picked up a 2004 and I'm looking to put a 2 1/2" front and a 2" on the rear. I ordered my spacers from Supreme Suspensions I used them before and they offer a real nice quality product. However I see that sfcreations offers a 3" lift for a little more. I might order the 3" and put it on just to see how it looks and send back the others. Has anybody else used the three inch lift?
No I haven’t but I just ordered the 2.5 inch lift kit off Amazon. Pretty new to this so I’m not sure if running the stock 245 65 r17 AT tires with it is going to affect the car negatively or not. Considering getting some 31 inch tires(265 70 r17 i think) but I’m not sure if that’ll rub or not
Great video. Do you have issues with your cv axles? Does the axle angle give you any problems? Im afraid the axle might be OK for use on the road but off road would probably rip tear or blow the axles.
Thanks for watching. So far no issues. Ive done some minor off-roading but nothing serious. The CV axles are not at much of an angle with these spacers so I dont think there will be any problems.
Yes they were the 22 year old OEM shocks/struts/springs. They held up great with the spacers, especially considering their age. I have since removed the spacers and went with a complete old man emu suspension setup.
Neither...I disconnected the sway bar at the end links to install the springs in the rear, and to take out the struts in the front. But I didn't have to completely remove them nor buy new ones.
Installed 2.5 front 2 rear and after I got it "aligned" there was a lot of clunking sounds coming from the front? Any ideas anyone? Also it wasn't really aligned very good the wheels are kinda butterfly
Nice looking 98 ! my favorite Pathfinders the 96 to 99 ? models I think ! the ones with this beautiful front grill , 2000 and up the grill change was not a better idea I don't like it .
I always wanted my first car to be a 4x4 and I was finally able to buy a 1998 Pathfinder. But the problem is that I live in Mexico and I have not been able to find parts to modify it.
Dude your strut will turn you do not have to compress the spring turn the top plate on the strut you don’t have to remove the spring to do it just saying!!
@@rhino5ohh I ve been trying to scan the car but when I use the obd2 and scan it it has no connection to any unit. When I use the obd1, my scan tool doesnt even power up. I'm suspecting the ecu might be the problem. What do you think?
I have a 96, but I live in Arizona so mine has no rusty bolts. When I replaced my struts, the bolts came off with ease. I have been thinking of getting SF creation spacers. I'm wondering if I should get replacement springs too. The original springs may have a bit more sag then ideal. How were your springs? Are they factory original?
Not to disrupt someone else’s comment section, but I don’t recommend spacers for off-road use. I have a video about it on my channel and nissanpathfinders.net has tons of info as well
My springs are factory original. The vehicle only has 105k on it, however the springs/shocks/struts are 22 years old at this point. While the suspension doesn't sag, it still is rather sloppy. I'll be doing a full suspension eventually. Just wanted to give these spacers a try. I'm happy with them. Like I mentioned in the video they're cheap. I don't do any serious off-roading.
@@rhino5ohh thanks for the reply. SF Creations was having a sale and I bought the "2 inch all around" kit. I did a 2 1/2 lift on my 4Runner, this should be about right for the Pathfinder. I got camber bolts on order...
@@208Tyler thanks for the reply. This is actually my 2nd Pathfinder, I've lurked around those forums quite a bit in past and present. My previous Pathfinder was an R51, now I have this R50.
@@rhino5ohh Agreed, ditching the spacers for a proper set of springs will improve not only your ride quality, but also load handling. I immediately noticed that when I made the switch.
Apologies for leaving that out. They're bolts that replace the factory strut-to-knuckle bolts (the bolts im removing at 3:22). The part of the bolt that sits inside of the knuckle has a lobe (in other words it's not a perfect circle) so that when you turn it clockwise/counter-clockwise, the lobe pushes the knuckle away from or into the strut, giving you a few degrees +/- of camber that you normally wouldnt be able to get with the factory bolts.
Great video. Would love to see some more videos with your pathfinder. Are the spacers still doing well? Didn't break your CV's? What manual locking hubs are those? thanks!
I have actually recently taken them out and did a full old man emu suspension. its about the same lift as i had with the spacers. No issues with CVs. They are Warn manual locking hubs
@@rhino5ohh ah right on, I just got my sf creations kit in. eventually may put the Landrover rear springs in but ive spent too much money on this beast lately! need to do trailing arms at some point
You should have removed the panard rod on the back end of the diff ,that will let the diff sink all the way down no need to put your foot on the drum to force it in..
What size tires are those? I am trying to figure out the largest size I can fit on my stock ride height 02 Pathy LE. The original size is a 245/65R17 tire for my vehicle.
I have a 98 as well. Mine doesn’t have those fender flares. Any idea where I could get those? Are yours stock because it is the manual trim package and mine is auto so it didn’t come with those or are yours aftermarket?
The fender flares are stock, but its not because it has a manual transmission. The flares on pre-facelifted R50 Pathfinders (1996 - early 1999) came on the Sport (SE) trim pathfinders only. If yours is a base (XE I believe) or Limited (LE), that is likely the reason why yours does not have flares.
Hey man, great video! Putting my SF Creation spacer lift on tomorrow. I'm wondering what wheels you are using? What is the offset on them and did you have to use wheel spaces to get 3.75" backspacing?
Thanks for watching. Its an OEM Nissan mat. I believe it came with the vehicle when new. I'm the second owner so I'm not entirely sure it came from the factory but it does say nissan on it.
No rubbing at all. I believe the face-lifted R50 pathfinders (99.5 - 04) have slightly different front calipers and you may get rubbing on those ones. Don't quote me on that though.
Hey man! I seriously just bought that same spacer set up and the same wheels because of your video. Putting them on my QX4! Could you tell me your tire spec?
@@gimmeat0wel That's interesting, nothing should be glued. Maybe there's just loctite on the bolts or its a nylon lock nut? I assume you're talking about the 3 bolts in the engine bay that hold the strut to the vehicle. Either way, you should be able to break it free with a regular socket and rachet. Might have to use a breaker bar to get them loose but they really shouldn't be that tight
jaggedtoothfang 31s will fit without a lift. That’s what I have on in this video prior to lifting it. Just make sure you have the right backspacing. My wheels are 15x8 with 3.75 inch backspacing. Tires are 31x10.50x15
That is one clean vehicle. Gives me something to admire as I rebuild my 2001. I got it from my wife who wanted to leave it with the infinity dealer. Oh but when I put some work in it she parked the infinity in the garage and back in my truck she went. It’s not fair project this month power steering. Gives me something to do when she comes home whining about what is wrong with it. 😒

@@rhino5ohh appreciate the reply, just curious why did you decide to go full old man emu? did you have issues with the spacers in this video? thanks again!
@@adamwaller9593 I had absolutely no issues with the spacers and I would recommend them to anyone looking for a budget lift. I eventually went with old man emu because my shocks, struts, and springs were all factory, 22 year old parts and they were tired. On one of my struts, the rod would collapse when you let it go (not supposed to happen, it should extend). And as you saw in the video, they were getting rusty. It was time to replace the parts for sure. I might eventually add a smaller spacer on top of the old man emu kit, but for now it looks great. Sits almost the same as the spacers did.
@@rhino5ohh thanks for the replies, I'm having issues trying to source out whether longer shocks on the rear will be required or will the stock shocks work with this spacer lift? thanks!
