This video is continuation of lifting beam analysis first part. It explains the FEA Analysis of lifting beam for self weight. It highlights various lifting analysis scenario, mesh generation, point mass application, loading and boundary condition, remote point creation and results discussion for deformation and stresses, etc.

Thank you for these thoughtful tutorials. I have three questions, please: 1. Would you kindly run this analysis again with both of the Remote Displacements to be free in Rotation X ? I am curious to see the effect in the local area of each lifting lug/eye. 2. Would you perform a tutorial with this lifting beam as midsurfaces (and use shell elements) ? 3. Do you make this 3D model available for those interested to practice ? Thank you.

Hello Naldo, Thank you for appreciation ! 1. You will have some effect due to rotation but it does not impact much on stresses. 2. You can do with shell elements, mostly have similar results. 3.We will upload this on our blog: www.graspengineering.com/category/design/fea-cad-geometry/ We have uploaded so many videos on lifting scenario, such as lifting beam, pressure vessel lifting. kindly visit all the video and try to do practice at your end. Let us know if you have any concerns, thanks.

Hello. Why did you use remote point - beam for lifting sling simulation instead of springs? Can you share a source why this approach is suitable in this case.

We need to simulate realistic scenario and hence we need to model the lifting point and connection between them. To define connection between lifting point and lifting lug, you can either model exact chain, or else use rigid elements. How lifting is done by spring ?

Hi is there any minimum allowable deformation for the particular beam used or allowable stress , to check its allowed to use or not

The deformation minimum values should be defined in user define specification. There is no such criteria for deformation, you need to decide based on your judgement and product experienced.

Are you doing modeling in Space Claim OR Design Modeler OR importing it from any other CAD platform
@graspengineering9249

It is imported in design modeler and geometry simplification is done. You can even model this geometry is Spaceclaim or design modeler too.
