Lifting & Dividing Campanulas, or indeed any perennials. Spring is the perfect time in the gardening calendar to lift, divide and move perennials if you’re not happy where they are at the moment. I show you how I do this. Plants are so resilient, they really won’t mind, as long as you give them some slow release fertiliser in their new home and plenty of water for the first week. If you’re unhappy with the position of any perennials in your garden ... then move them!

Oh thanks so much for watching Mary Lou, you know plants are a lot tougher than you think so as long as you water it every day for the first week or so, it will be fine I am sure. Enjoy your gardening 💖

I just bought some campanulas from aldi but they’re bluebell style ones I think. (I’m a novice and complete beginner) everything dies on me 😂😫 and I wanted to split the plants so thank you I’m going to try this for my rockery

Hello there! Thank you for watching … this video is quite old, about 2020 I think, and I don’t have these campanulas any more but I should get some more. Don’t worry, I kill lots of things too 😂 good luck with your rockery planting and have a wonderful week 🩷😊

You are lucky to have a base for a pond I would love a pond you get frogs and lizards they will eat all the insets and pests in your garden and bringing lots of wildlife 🐝🦉🦋🐞🐛🦔🦅

Hi there Janet and happy weekend. A pond certainly is the ideal thing for attracting things to eat all those slugs and snails. I don’t have a pond though unfortunately, only 2 little water feature fountains. It’s a rainy Saturday morning here so might not be able to do much gardening today, but I have my fingers crossed for tomorrow instead. Happy weekend 🥰

My husband used to say my plants came with suitcases cos I moved them around so much , I moved a plant yesterday so hoping for the best 😱 it was so big and had only been in a year but needed going further back and my niece wanted a piece so I though what the heck , it took me so long the tap root was huge but the plant is beautiful so 🤞it’s called Sanguisorba Lilac Squirrel . there is a smaller one called S Obtusa so check em out but make sure you put it where you REALLY want it ,Ive got little copse near me where all my snails go on holiday 🐌🐌 😂

Hello Eileen 😍 I’ve just looked the Sanguisorba up and yes, beautiful! I am forever moving plants around, they don’t seem to mind that much. It’s part of the fun I think. It has turned so much colder here over the past few days. And my garden is beginning to fill with leaves. That’s a job I don’t relish. But it is what it is 😁 lovely to chat to you, as always. You take care 😍

Can you trim campanulas? Ours had dried up and starting to dead head a little so I kind of pulled a few dried ones out from the base thinned it to half and run the scissors over and took a 1/4 off it looks healthy just no signs of flowers. Will they come back how long will it take for the flowers to come back? I bought a few from Morrison’s

Hi Chris, do you mean the Campanula Bellflowers? They are the ones I have. You can deadhead each little flower to stop it forming seed, or if there are lots of dead flowers just cut the stem down to where there is a new bud. It is tedious though!! Then once all flowers on stem are finished I just cut the whole stem down to the base. They are lovely and will come back every year.

Hi thanks for your reply, yes that’s what I think they are. I’m glad they will come back each year as I added a few to a trough planter with some ornamental grasses and Osteopermums underneath the window cill. Since the last comments I’ve actually noticed a couple of little bud shoots appearing. So hopefully I may have another flush of flowers. Have you any advice videos regarding Nemesias pruning trimming and splitting etc? I love these they provide lots of long colour

I don’t actually have any nemesia but they are lovely and I still have a few bare spaces so I will look out for them - great idea. Just read up about them and it says once they have finished blooming you should give them a haircut and you may we’ll get repeat blooms a few weeks later. Thanks for your comments, I really appreciate it 😁

Hi thanks for the video. Is it too late to divide it now 3rd May? Thanks Natalie
@TheEnthusiasticGardener
@TheEnthusiasticGardener 2 года назад
Hi Natalie, no I still think you’ll be ok. As long as the weather where you are is not really hot? Don’t do it on a bright sunshiny day, but when it’s cloudy. And keep them watered every day for a week. I would do it now but of course I don’t know where you live? Good luck 😍

I throw snails over the fence, there's tarmac road there and they get squashed by passing cars.

Hi there, thank you for watching. I think there are lots of different types of campanula and mine are called Bellflower, so sounds like yours are a different one to these, but the method of dividing them is all the same 😀
