Sean Murray and the rest of Hello Games have to be relieved and thrilled with the reception this game got. When Sean stated they were very nervous about showing it, probably because of the rough start NMS had, they can now breathe. Of all the games shown, this one has been the talk of the town. It looks awesome, and I can't wait until we can start exploring it.

Given their history I'll let the sheep buy this game on release and wait about a month myself. While they did make up for No Man's Sky's launch it took them a looong time to do so. I've learned after the burn from Cyberpunk and CDPR's trend of their games being a beta test until years later.

I like the look of the "ancient" looking structures in the trailer. The big sphere tower thing near the end off in the distance, if you zoom in on it, it looks like a giant maze thing. ❤

Something that Sean said just before the trailer played was how he "learned his lesson" about talking about things or revealing things that weren't actually playable at the time of the interviews. So I kept that in mind when he spoke about it then again when I watched the trailer. If that is to believed, I think they have intentionally kept this very close to their chest until it's in the state they want it to be in for a release/reveal. I think that's why he got such a bad rap for NMS. He was talking about the complete vision for the game, not just the features she was currently working on/releasing. That and their office flooding that destroyed a lot of their work and the impatient Sony executives who wouldn't give them more time to get the game in better shape. I think if NMS released in the state it is today, the reception would have been much different. My hope is that they will release LNF with "7 years worth of updates" and some actual content to keep people coming back.

I tried NMS 1 week ago, but I had trouble playing it because in my head was the NMS from the release time. Then yesterday I mentally prepared myself to try it again, now I'm hooked, played 6 hours straight. And i am looking forward to this game.

If I were to guess, I say late 2024 or early 2025. Companies start the hype early to gauge interest. Not only for themselves but for potential financial deals (publishers or investors or to secure more operating capital). I worked in the VG industry for 17 years and I can tell you, the more you engage with a potential audience, the better off you will be.

I'm very excited for LNF, but I can't help but notice there's still no running water, no rivers, no waves. They figured out the fluid dynamics of fire very well, so why not water. This should be a priority because it would dramatically improve this new game and NMS.

The game has been in development for five years. And they've basically learned from their mistakes, and mastered their procedural tech. I could easily see Light No Fire being a Q1 2024 release window. At least in early access.

I am so excited for this game! The exploration is going to be like no other if they actually pull this off. I have played, hated and loved No Man's Sky and it is still one of my most favorite games that I still play frequently. So for me the hype is real !

I've seen a ton of ads for it, that was a great point. I could see it releasing fairly soon, as most of the assets are reskins from NMS (not a bad thing) with a bit of new stuff mixed in. But the core mechanics have likely been tested in NMS over the last few years. So Id be confident in it having a pretty strong launch.

What’s so crazy is that 4 years ago, give or take, it was a while ago, I told my friend, I wish we had a game like no man’s sky but fantasy style building and what not. Since the original NMS fallout Sean Murray's way of operation seems to be, fully develop the product in almost complete silence (Usually an expansion), then announce it a very short time before it drops. It wouldn't be surprising to me if the game was pretty much done at this point given that knowledge. They also seem to hold the drop date very close to the vest, even not announcing it at all except for in a cryptic Twitter comment a few days before it goes live.

Well, they are building Light No Fire off of the base engine for NMS. Five years of development for NMS was ground-up work. They don't have to do that this time.. so hopefully that means a q2/q3 2024 release..

@@drewmcvinney I think most people are disappointed because they under delivered what they made the game out to be. Everyone thought it was gonna be a whole new experience when really it feels like a modded Fallout 4. The exploration isnt as good as past Bethesda games either, that's what turned me off of it personally. Though I dont hear a lot of people calling the game "bad" cause it's really not. It's just incredibly boring. It's not good but it's not bad. If you like the Bethesda gameplay you probably like it, if you're bored of it you don't.

it would honestly be so cool and weirdly on brand for them to just throw the game out randomly as a surprise release catching everyone off guard and being happily surprised with some level of wonder and curiosity much like their games thesis is. sometimes the best launches have been out of the blue and everyone is hyped to watch and play something fresh. the game has been in dev for years as they said so its quite possible it could be mere months away. I hope so. This is at the top of my list as something to look forward to.

One question. How do you have a multiplayer procedurally generated world space? Will it be generated for the host player then locked down. Can't imagine this can be a persistent MMO that generates every time you load in.

@@GingerPrimeGaming well it works for no mans sky too, its probaply generated for each client but its based of the same seed so it generates the same for everyone. Special POI's and player built structures then probaply get loaded onto the terrain after generating.I could see multiplayer working not like an mmo and more like a survival game where there is different public and private servers with different settings and rules.

Like no man's sky the proc-gen is predetermined. The engine will always place the same assets and geography in the same place no matter who generates it. Basically it's a lot of fancy algebra.

Yeah don't think of it as procedurally generated like a rogue-like. It uses procedural generation to create everything once and then that's locked in (unless they change parameters with an update). Like one master seed. Or one Minecraft seed that everyone plays on instead of a host generating their own...that is, assuming they're doing it similar to NMS.

@@wickian9571 I don't see why not, I just hope there's a good territory protection system, especially with factions and all that. This seems like a casual game for most people (aka the non-16-hour-per-day grinders), so it'd be really bad for the game in general if griefing was possible. Only time will tell I guess. Also, has it been confirmed to be an MMO already or simply a multiplayer sandbox game? I feel like I saw it was an MMO since my initial impression was similar to Minecraft but then suddenly shifted to feeling like an MMO, but I can't recall where.

I hope they do a variant of what BG3 did. Release the game as a beta version but limit the gamespace to one large island. And then iron out the systems there. And then release the full game when ready.

I got No man’s sky late in the game and prefer to play it in VR. I was disappointed at the creatures of the world. I was expecting Ark Survival Evolved-ish on the planets surface. Now I see this. How to merge them both together to make the experience? I feel this year will be who can do this first and better. They already have skin in the game. I wouldn’t blame them if they charged some money for a “overhaul” on No-Man’s Sky. Like some kinda 2.0 or something. Or a “surprise” with this game…you get where I’m going here? They can play ball, or knock it out the park. Everyone waiting for Ark 2 would just toss it, ya see. Something for them to think about. They could capture the largest player base in the market if they play their cards right.

NMS is one of my top games, it had a rocky begining with all the "promises" not kept and big ideas but it kept every single one of them and surpassed what any other dev has offered i nterms of free updates. I bought it on my ps4 and my PC and I regret nothing

They took what maybe 5-7 years to get no mans sky to a good point? I know its still been worked on and updated but im talking about to a point where people was happy and the game was where people expected to be at launch. Not sure how long this game has been developed for but i would hope atleast 5 years, And if not then i hope they let it cook for another year more than they think it will need so they dont mess up launch like NMS. Im sure they wont make the same mistake 2s though right.

I'm going to go on limb here and speculate that the early advertisement could be in preparation in hyping people for pre-orders at the very least. Though at the same time the advertisement may not be considered early in Hello Games eyes if the game releases say this year. I doubt an early access release though, just because the game would arguably get the same kind of update treatment as No Mans Sky has which is not beholding to early access for it to work.

I really hope they spend a TON of time developing satisfying combat for this game. Past that, love no mans sky and love Sean Murray. I was on the hype train pre no mans sky, I never faltered during no mans lie, and I fervently defended that mans passion around the game. After seeing so many interviews I knew he wasnt one to just give up. So amazing to see what they have done and that they have a new my most anticipated 2024 release, even though it doesnt have a release date.

I actually hope Hello Games does this: They release an announcement trailer, that the game's coming in 2024. But, they make it clear, that it's Early Access on Steam. They launch the game, and get valuable feedback on it. Being Early Access, people tend to be less harsh on it, but also that it gives those who wanna wait for full release a moment to see if the game's good at a basic level. Baldur's Gate 3 spent 3 years in Early Access, so to say Early Access doesn't work is ignorance. Then, it has an early 2025 release date for PS5, Xbox Series, Switch 2 and PC. Hell, if the game's feedback is incredible, then launch even sooner. Let the players give you feedback. You don't have to ask for forgiveness if you do this right!

I’m really hoping for and looking forward to this one.NMS is good for the 💙 and Murray has an awesome fantasy in his head.Only thing I’m not sure about is how talking rabbids are supposed to be on another planet and not Aliens..How that story goes..in my head?🤔😅

This game is going to be the best MMO ever because if I'm understaing correctly, the world will be mostly player driven and populated of course they will have a ton of NPC towns/areas....but the fact that this is going to be one a single planet with all the players in the game inhabiting will make for more interesting stories that can't be lived in other games because of how the game is designed and I think that's the biggest appeal of this game for me. I can't wait until it releases.

Except it's NOT an MMO. This is a survival/crafting game with base building, it's all player made. No towns, no dungeons. You really should have googled it.

@@Jenema2 Except on it's steam page where it can be wishlisted it doesn't support what you just said. It's not an MMO in the traditional sense sure, but it will be just like NMS im willing to bet. So to say there won't be any dungeons or towns is a bit far fetched seeing as they showed places that weren't player made in the trailer itself. Furthermore, to not call it an MMO is just being nitpicky. I bet I can name a few games that are listed and considered MMO's with less players than you would find in this game....so maybe you should have googled some games that are listed as MMOs or look on the steam page to see what the game is before typing that.

I wish tubers would stop spreading this thought that it's coming soon based on the appearance of advertising... Like seriously people this is exactly how MARKETING WORKS, it gets going 6 months to a year before a release, it'll be shown at TGA with a release window, as ND I seriously wish everyone stop comparing to the launch of NMS, there was alot of things that happened on the backend that caused the problems for launch

I have one criticism with light no fire. the flying with the mounts looks like copy pasted spaceship takeoff of no mans sky. that's all I have to say, otherwise might be good if they get the gameplay loop right.

@@picklewart5382 Proof? I haven't seen anything. But I am discounting a 2024 Q1 release as they are going to drag it out a bit more.... But here's a funny thing no-one has mentioned. After the trailer was shown in the game awards Geoff Keighley said "Been waiting for years to show that to you" That is from the CC. But it sounds like he says. "I've Been waiting for years to show that to you". I have bad hearing but Interesting non the less.
