Not many folks know about this heater. This is built on a 118a fount, and originally came with a ceramic heater element. Most of these have been broken over the years, and this one has an aftermarket stainless steel element. It works great and throws heat a long way. Great for those chilly evenings on the patio!

Came here after seeing your video on shorts and I gotta say dude I love your style. I had no idea those even existed until yesterday and today I found out just how cool they are. Please keep doing what you’re doing so that young guys like me can learn as much as we can about a life and art lost to us. God bless you brother and you definitely got yourself a new subscriber.

Thank you again for another cool video about old gas-powered goodies. I have a bunch of (mostly) coleman stuff, and oh how i wish there was a local meeting group for it where i live (Eastern Oregon). - I always enjoy your repair and 'light-ups' and can't wait for the next one.

Love the way you can flip up the bowl and grill on it - don't know how well it would work or how stable it would be - but I like an device with options. Thanks for lighting it up for us :)

Since the hot ray is rare I cannot find what any have sold for . With your experience could you give us a price range for one in the same shape as the one you are working on .

I see them very seldom on ebay for 200 to 300 range. I do not know if this is typical or not. I purchased one, and it had the bottom inch of a ceramic 'stack' on it. I purchased a stainless steel replacement, but was unable to get it to light. Perhaps I was not turning the fuel knob on the back enough to get it to light. Another project for another day. I did get my 1 gravity fed @1895 two burner stove to light. And light my boat stove up - with smoked up the house a bit. ha ha ha. No harm done.
