Yeah this campaign seemed rushed and disconnected. No build up to Neomona or the Veil just “ok we’re here now and we gotta find this Veil.” Witch queen had build up with us exploring mars and fighting the hive guardian before taking a moment to try and figure things out. Idk seems like they didnt have as much passon for this. Im almost tempted to say Curse of Osiris and Warmind were better story wise.
keep in mind everyone, Nezerac made an appearance. he very well could be taking the place of the Witness in this universe, to protect anyone from entering into the traveler. imo, i would’ve liked to see more of the Witness. and get to know more of its intentions, and just exactly why was it important for him to get inside of the Traveler Edit: I had a thought, the raid is called “Roots of Nightmares” so Nezarec is who gave the Neptunians the nightmares in the CloudArk, and gave us the Nightmares during the Shadowkeep DLC. He could be the final raid boss. The raid then will be an explanation of the intentions of the Witness, and the capabilities of the Traveler
He merged with the traveler and the traveler becomes evil and we go into the portal to kill the traveler plot twist the darkness is still coming so we have to fight with the remaining light we have within ourselves
So… what exactly happens next season? Because Calus is finally dead and the Witness is in the wind, and fighting psions or an oversized hive knight after this will feel like massive downgrade. Edit: Correction, Calus is about as dead as Taniks.
We need savathun redeemed (she no longer has to lie about the veil and most likely knows more about it than usual) mara sov might actually have more to do with this than usual and she will most likely need savathun to help her figure out what the witness is doing and xivu arath is very much STILL a hive threat considering we have been fighting the forces for quite a while so they very much can use anything
They used a stupid macguffin to take us to a new planet instead of just actually starting the main conflict when it should have. The Witness stands in front of the Traveler at the beginning of the DLC, and at the end. Feels like they're just stretching it out even more. Shit should have hit the fan in Season of Arrivals. It was the perfect time to end the Light and Dark Saga. It felt urgent.
Shit did hit the fan in Season of Arrivals. The Arrivals Pyramids were just the first ships out of the larger fleet, and 4 of our destinations got yoinked by them.
Big surprise, the DLC that starts with actual urgency ends on some random planet chasing some dumbass macguffin that has nothing to do with the main plot. Bungie can not stick to the Light vs Dark story for more than 3 minutes (now after the intro) before putting us on some side themed shit. Beyond Light was EPIC ICE POWER, Witch Queen was DETECTIVE MYSTERY😎, and this one is CYBERPUNK purple orange and green😱 So fucking lame and the urgency will be dragged out to nothing over seasonal content as usual. Happy to see people disagree with it, but hate that I still see blind hype under Bungie's trailers. This is the first DLC I haven't given them money for and I'm glad. It's the same thing over and over.
Wow… they really know how to make underwelming story development. Huge trailer, everything just for that scene, where no one even knows whats going on. And now it takes another year for them to make some story content ? Nice, exactly what people wanted. So essentially you pay like 50 bucks for a short story, some new content and maps and thats it… nice
Yea, it's almost like something happened these last couple years to really slow down development... No idea what that could have possibly been. In all seriousness though; it sucks but it's unavoidable for now.
@@Thescott16 not sure covid is still a way to excuse publishing neglected content. They hyped it up huge, and most game studios are back on track. Some amazing games recently came out so the pandemic is no longer an excuse. They just really drag out content to get the most out of this franchise. Because once this story is dine, destiny is over. If they really still suffered from the aftermath of the pandemic they could have delayed, or reduced the price
nahhh Witch Queen had seasons and at least everything was interesting and it felt like a Forsaken (except the raid which personally I didnt like that much) but in this case, Light Fall is just like, bad
All the calus’ we killed were robots and taniks is also more machine than fallen, Cayde can be brought be back if they figure out how yo create exos again but he would be a completely different person and would not be a guardian Also the real reason they killed him was because his voice actor didn’t have time for destiny anymore

You can get a refund on Microsoft, and turn around and subscribe to Gamepass to get the DLCs for $1 or a couple bucks. It's how I played the Beyond Light DLC and got Stasis, but once your sub ends you lose access to it. Better than buying the whole game when you can take that money and invest in the dungeons/season pass.

Well aside from the poor seasonal model story telling that has already been going on. Its probably safe to assume they're gonna ignore that cliffhanger while us gaurdians are gonna have to deal with Nezarec for a Raid - followed by some Vex or Xivu Arath season. Who knows - maybe even going into that triangle portal. The next season after Defiance is named the "The Deep". So maybe that's where the portal leads. Worry not - bungie has a plan to make us waste hours of time grinding for a 3 minute story beat.
Like my name is byf said, "If you had to compare d2 to marvel right now, lightfall is infinity war and the final shape will be end game." Because, after all, we still aren't even sure what the Witness truly wants to do. We can guess based on the prophecy we found in the vow of the disciple but that still, is even up to multiple interpretations.
Honestly… when they said this is our “end” it didn’t feel like it at all. It more felt like a continuation and a lot of confusion. I still have so many questions that weren’t answered at all. What’s the veil? What is the light and darkness? Weren’t we supposed to learn more about the witness and it’s motives??
We did learn more about the Light, Darkness, and the Witness' motivations during the campaign. Not as much as you might've liked, but we did learn quite a bit.
They basically answer all the questions that were never answered in the campaign in Season of the Deep. Spoilers: The Witness is basically like the Core from Amphibia: they are a fusion of a bunch of idiots who saw the Traveler once as a life provider. But after learning it could create chaos, they brought the Veil, which they found, and went "let's do some evil" The Veil is actually the TRUE entity of Darkness, which explains why there is Strand in Neomuna. The Light and the Darkness were never enemies. The Witness only used the Darkness for its evil motives. The Final Shape the Witness keeps talking about is the end of not only the universe, but reality itself. The Witness wants to create a world in which there is no life and there is no death. Just complete nothingness; eternal and perfected. That's why in the Witch Queen, they said: "You promised them life, Yet only delivered death Enough death, enough life" Theory of mine of where the Witness might have gone: when the Witness said in the Witch Queen: "your pale heart holds the key", got me thinking, that they went inside the Traveler in order to destroy or find the heart of the Traveler. Good thing I waited to see how it was before buying … straight filler, they brought back calls as a filler and now the real “end won’t happen till the final shape wow! This dlc was just get strand that’s it
So Lightfall was supposed to be the final shape. Bungie later turned final shape into a separate expansion. I'd have to assume they had more stories to tell through seasons instead of packing them into one huge send off for destiny 2.

the traveler has been one of the biggest disappointments to me with D2 because NOTHING is explained about it. The cut that was made against the traveler created a portal instead of letting us see what is inside the sphere. Where the hell does that portal go to and why did the Witnes take the ships with? Nothing makes sense about this ending and it's simply to allow more time for new content creation and purchase.
@@stelonous in unveiling lore books it's stated if you were ever to try and trace the origin of either light or darkness, you'd end up in The Garden. Considering what the traveler blasted the pyramids with, I'd be inclined the witness is potentially going into the Garden
I guess this is why each season gives us story. This dlc clearly meant to open the story up for bigger plans and now each season will see what the ghost started.
Well to be fair the real endings to the story will be in The final Shape…do t get me wrong I’m dissatisfied with ending as well but I wasn’t going into the story expecting the story to wrap up at the end of the campaign.

The witness isn't dead at all, we lost, we don't know what it's intentions are or what it's plan is, but clearly the Shadow Legion would more than likely know what the plan is and still follow it.

My question is if the Witness could possess the Ghost, why did it had to go through all that trouble of making Calus go and get the Radial Mast to create a link when it could just possess the Ghost and go directly to the Veil and make the link themselves? The Witness would be like: Dang. He's got a point there.
Without calus going there, we as the guardians would not have a reason to get this close to the veil. Here he possessed ghost while we were right before it so the reaction time was minimal but if ghost got possessed further away, someone catching him on time would have been much more probable.
That ending is so underwhelming it’s not the fact we don’t know what happened it’s the fact that nothing just happened like at all the witness presumably went inside the traveler which should’ve been a scary thing but no, nothing happened to the light (which kinda makes sense but they couldn’t at least have us return to the shard of the traveler?) the tower didn’t get destroyed or anything for that matter and we’re left the same as we were before lightfall I’m really disappointed with that ending like nothing?!? I think me and a lot of other people weee expecting a ragnarock event to take place and season by season after lightfall we would’ve rebuilt and go in for round 2 in final shape hell even the title misleading the traveler didn’t “fall” its still there it just has a giant triangle portal, all the seasons building up to lightfall had the same theme of loss hell that final season 19 cinematic felt is losing alot more than this entire campaign. Look this campaign is actually awesome like the set pieces the bosses and the overall gameplay improved from witch queen but I mean like come on like the expectations were high especially after the vow prophecies saying that the witness will commune and drink the light and that it would kill someone was just a let down. Also as a side note our ghost and literally everyone else didn’t even acknowledge that nesarec was alive in that strike which btw was an amazing strike like genuinely
yeah i wasn't planning on buying this one because $100 and hours of grinding for 12 minutes of story is ridiculous. Im interested to see where it goes, but cutscenes on youtube will tell me all i need to know
I'm glad I didn't buy it either. This is my first time not being there for day 1. I wasn't overly excited for Beyond Light, but played daily. I played Witch Queen now and then with my girlfriend. This time around, Destiny isn't on my console. Hopefully the lack of profit will teach Bungie, but I'm assuming they are aware their sales are dropping and that's why they keep increasing expansion prices
I’m not even waste my money on light fall it’s overhyped paying nearly 70 fucking pounds for me in the UK. What are you getting out with your money? Nothing it’s the reskinned shit from the past three years since shadow keep building of the whole story of the darkness what is funny for the final boss for the campaign story of this chalice it’s really lazy I’m fed up with the whole story line with the Cabal I’ve I was okay for when destiny, two first came out, when they destroyed the tower and take power of the traveller but what should be the new chapter of destiny post to be building up a story with the darkness, and I still going back, bringing all the villains back is so boring. And this is why I’m not falling for this trap now anyway, I got burnt out since the beginning of which queen the grind is so boring, it’s all the same as shadow keep and we going to be grinding for the same seasons for the next 12 month I’m glad I last years ago
Season passes, maybe, since you can pick and choose and each one isn't that much. But upwards of $50 bucks 'so you can use strand ability' (which Bungie will use it as, same way you needed Beyond Light to use stasis) and almost no ongoing story is too high.
I literally thought “that’s it? This costed $50?” Like it’s not the first time it’s happened but LF had so much hype and potential… hopefully New Shape has a good ending

The Guardian was lining up their shot. If Nimbus swooped in that early, our Ghost would've seen him coming and moved, making that shot even harder to line up.

Bungie once again proving they suck at story telling, we really need to stop giving this game a chance, no game deserves you to spend hundreds a year just to get shitty stories with constant new characters you don’t care about

They left the ending on a weird cliffhanger. It didn’t resolve any problems just created more confusion. Lastly the final boss was underwhelming. As much as I like destiny I think WQ was better.
@@jppesto922 ok maybe they put too much effort into fixing the game and adding new content rather than fixing the story. Witch queen succeeded in the story but failed in the actual gameplay. I think the inverse is happening for lightfall.
I’m on vacation so I won’t be able to play for a bit. But from what I have heard, it seems that Witch Queen had a great campaign but the rest of the game lacked additions and was pretty much garbage. And Lightfall has a pretty meh-bad campaign but the rest of the game has much more and better additions. 🤷♂️
During the story? Oh yeah, it's a great time, your grapple has a short recharge (about 3 or 4 seconds after touching the ground) so you get to use it all the time, it's really fun and actually feels really different from the rest of the classes... Then you finish the story and get strand as a permanent class and the grapple has an almost 2 minute recharge time (1:52)... so you basically never use it, I expected the time to be more but only like 10, maybe 15 seconds but no, it has a longer recharge than half the other grenades in the game. I don't play Destiny to just shoot guns, if I wanted to just use guns I would play Battlefield or cod, I want to use my damn space magic, why does bungie insist on making it harder and harder to actually do that seemingly with every update? I am honestly really disappointed in the expansion in general, like there are some cool looking bits and the story strand gameplay is fun but most of it is just Osiris being angry and shouting at us for not being good enough, one of the new characters being basically a marvel character spouting one liners and giving fist bumps and acting like this all this is just a fun time, Calus is just there and not much else and we are basically told nothing about anything, just "go here, do this, if you don't we will loose!" and then we loose (I did want us too loose for once but not like this with ghost just floating off and us doing nothing, christ) nothing really changes, at all, and strand as a class has some of the longest recharge times in the game... It's not fun. Oh and that's not even getting onto the new armour mods, I hope you didn't like any of the builds because they are all gone and basically not rebuildable so have fun making entirely new ones all based around orbs of power and armour power, that's basically charged with light but bad.
From what I know the graudian couldn't get ghost with strand beacuse we never unlocked it yet or masterd like stasis yet and we couldn't get to the witness cause he would just kill anyone that got close with a simply jester and as for the ending the traveler is the final shape which is way it ran so much from the witness though bungie could have did a bit better at writing cause both new players and old wouldn't really understand it.
When I say the traveler is final shape the veil was the key to go we're the traveler was made or first created cause the veil was a link to the location of its birth place
I swear some of yall hate just to hate yall be watching how the campaign ends without the story leading up to it but I mean it's your money I'm not gonna tell you how to spend it
