Lightforce (Rob Hubbard - C64) vs Enchanted Land (Jochen Hippel - Amiga) Soundtrack Battle

Lightforce is undeniably the inspiration for Jochen's Enchanted Land. It is one of my favourite Thalion music tracks. Finding out several years ago that it is at best a homage and not an original work does sour it a little... but won't stop me listening to it.

Hubbard hands down! Plus, it's like composing in the dark with a quill and a pen, and playing on a street corner using a saw and a bucket, compared to a fully equipped home studio and the Los Angeles Philharmonic.

Nahh... no chance on this one mate, Madmax/JH on the ST was a legend and came up with loads of original tunes. Both legends in my ears.

we're talking about an arpeggio here though and one that by the nature of simply playing the keyboard can be discovered so I wouldn't have this down as having been nicked unless Jochen Hippel has already mentioned this to be the case. Mind you Rob Hubbard has 'borrowed' themes on a few occasions of course. I like the Light Force track more I would say

Lightforce may have been the inspiration for the arrangement and sound, but I find the melodies to be completely dissimilar. Each tune has its own characteristic and I don't "hear" the other when I listen to one of them.

A little slower tempo with some tweaking and shuffling of notes. But 'stealing' is done in all music since forever. Just look at what John Williams did with the music from Holsts Planets when writing the Star Wars theme. Same thing going on there.

Interesting music, not bad. I like Rob Hubbard composition. But the gameplay itself... zero creativity. All the player does is destruction...
