Lights are critical for night fishing from a kayak. Different types of lights are required by law depending on the type of kayak you have and where you are using it. Beyond that, it's just a good idea to be visible to other boats so nobody runs into you or gets into your lines. I use a combination of a headlamp, front-mounted solar light, and 360-degree rear light for high visibility and for illumination in the kayak while I am unhooking a fish, tying up a new rig, or navigating my way to a new spot.
