great tools KTM chain adjust should be done on paddock stand or bike in upright position with weight on rear wheel/suspension not with swing arm hanging free ?
@Braapncamp
@Braapncamp 5 месяцев назад
You are correct, i had to check the tension after i removed the stand and as well sagged the bike before. I checked it that way before as well and it was need for adjustment since a while ago. Thanks for pinting on this, should have covered this in the vid to not miss lead 🙈

Hi! I always carry some wire, zipties, bolts, quicksteel and a headlamp as well. I keep it in a lyndon poskitt enduristan organizer and have that inside the smallest enduristan bag which I have mounted inside my saddlebag mounts. Fits perfectly. Btw chain tension is supposed to be measured with the bike on the rear bike lift so with the weight of the bike on the rear tire! Your swingarm was fully extended so your chain appeared too loose. I just balance the bike with one hand on both wheels and check tension with the other hand.
@Braapncamp
@Braapncamp 5 месяцев назад
Thanks for the input! Wire, JB Weld or equal, vulc tape and zip ties are a must have at least on the larger kit. Used these things for repairs before. You are right aboutvthe swing arm and a "sagged" the bike and checked again after adjustment. The adjustment was needed and I have checken it just on the sidestand before and it was about time. Great to point this out though.

Always nice to see how others arrange their tools and what setup they bring on the bike. I'm so impressed by the light weight tools these days. Makes our lives so much easier. As you know Tjommi I also have the Enduro trail stand and it is easier to lift the bike on that stand than a center stand. Much less effort to use. Keep on braaaaping my friend, see you soon in the forrest of Sweden 🙌🏻

There are so meny great options out there. On the 1200 GSA i had some tools on the bike, a special alu box on the Luggage framemot and an under sear compartment. On the 690 i had tools under seat and in a tailbag with tube as well. Early days on the 790R I hade rhe tools onbike as well. Now with new and more cool tools there are alot of ideas. Probably back to basic storage is nice and that could be the Pinner Tool Roll strand on the bike 😂. See You in da woods Tjommi.

Interesting! Thanks! Good to hear your experience. Sometimes it is difficult to balance light weight tools with quality. That weight saving was impressive 👍😊

Indeed, i'm on a 5 day adv ride right now and I can tell that I should have bought the heavy duty toolkit with everything. 3 tire flats a couple of crashes in the team. No one Hurt though but a lot of wrenching 😂

Some nice tools and ideas there Mattias...I have tools in my tail pack, under my seat and inside the rear side compartments of the bike. haha. a trail stand is definitely a great idea and on my list

@@Braapncamp I see if the tools can be stored on the bike itself but not within the luggage then that’s a winner. However, maybe a few minutes longer to access them. 😂
@Braapncamp

Yes, it's a bummer for quick access if the same tools are used at home. That buggers me, but with these two kits there could be a bike kit 😁.

Is there a reason you don't carry the tools in the pockets on the side panels? I have multiple bikes so I carry my tools in my backpack, now I'm looking into lightweight tools and this was a good showcase.
@Braapncamp
@Braapncamp 5 месяцев назад
I'm just too lazy hor having the tools in the side compartments. I have a tire repair kit there though, great to have one allways on the bike. I also rather bring some trail tools in the back pack. But at a ride last weekend we needed alot of wrenching on some bikes due to misshappenings. I then regret that I did not bring the larger roll strapped on my rear rack.

A nice presentation Mattias. I never tire of these 'what I carry' videos. What would be good, in my view only of course, is for someone influential (Llel, Tjommi, yourself, Diego...)to buck the trend and come out and say "for goodness sake stop carrying tools for other riders!". Yes, once a shiny set of bits, or a set of sockets, has been bought it is tempting to carry the whole set of gleaming loveliness - such as the Motohansa bit sets there. But there is no way you need the complete set on that KTM! Leave behind the ones that are no use to you and are a dead weight. The reasoning that "they could help someone else out" is flawed - what are the chances of happening upon another rider, on the same route as you, on the same day as you, that needs the very tool that you are carrying in case you meet them...?? It is nice to help out others, but to go down that rabbit hole means carrying a set of front and back inner tubes for them in different sizes from your own (and ignore that you might be tubeless - but you are helping another rider out, remember?), axle nuts wrenches to fit other bikes, spark plugs to fit other bikes, spare nuts and bolts that don't fit your bike but fit others, spare throttle and clutch cables for Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha, and Triumph ADV bikes (you are helping others, remember...??). What would be exciting to watch instead would be how to improvise a rider's own bike specific tools to be used on another bike. For example, I carry a 30mm alloy combination rear axle nut and tyre spoon such as the one you show in the vid. But my front axle nut has been swapped out for a 27mm titanium one. Do I carry a separate 27mm tyre spoon/wrench combination? No, as that would defeat the titanium weight saving conversion. Instead I have a thin 1.5mm wall aluminium insert shaped to slide inside the 30mm wrench. Hey presto! Now I have a 30mm AND 27mm axle nut wrench. I would love to see videos like that. Best wishes Mattias :)

Love Your postat man! Today we had a rider who crashed, and I had left alot of tools ar home. (We are an a ADV Ride very remote for 5 days we needed all the tools I did not bring. Next thing was a flat, several dudes had to come for a "rescue" tube and some tools emeas missing. All in all we had ablast timodat and all was drinking beer afterwards. 🍺🍺🍺 Cheers my friend. I actually regret that I did not bring the large tool set in the roll strapped on the bike. Not even felt on the bike on the single tracks and "rally trails". But I know i will forget some tools next time as well. 👀😂😅

I always like to bring a big tool with me. Comes in handy in tight places Mathias you had shit flying everywhere. Good vid my Nordic ADV friend. Duct tape, Ancra soft hooks, Flashlight, antiseize, I have a set of jumper cables made up with I think 4 ga. wire and clips, small air compressor, tire plug repair kit, folding torx wrenches, and alken keys, those bits suck, maybe a light bulb. I have had to ride distance without, pretty fing scary in a foreign country. Extra key. You. Have a good kit. There is a brand of tool I think Eastwood, they make some damn good quality piece together wrenches, tire irons etc. Pricy. About 350 euro as I remember but trick as hell. Multi use functionality. I find them I'll send a link. A set of wheel bearings and brake pads f/r. I see people all the time stranded because of these items. Low quality and overloaded all contribute. A spare master link chain clip. Better have one or two. I ride shaft drive BMW's for 40 years kinda new having a chain. Next time, Be safe and have a fun ride.

I need to pick up one of the Rolling Maverick Stands... and I could lighten up my kit as well. As for the spark plug socket, I always want to have one but I don't always take it. If it's going to be technical, I take fewer tools, If I'm riding long distances I take more tools because the chances are that I'm riding alone and will have to help myself more. If I'm in a group, then I like to spilt tools if there are several similar bikes. On a sad note... maybe, (🤔) I'm getting a Yamaha T-7. The KTM 890 Adventure S is going bye bye, along with the Husqvarna FE 501 S, KLR 650, and a 2002 ZZR1200. Time to try going down to 2 bikes with my Harley. Ms Wolf, likes riding on the back of the Harley so it has to stay. 😂

These are the Woodsman Enduro (In the boot). These are great. I have not tried thr Kiger or Surveyor pants. Just looked them and felt the material. It all depends on where you ride and what weather/temerature. The Kiger if in hot climate. Woodsman is perfect for Scandinavia, if You know it will be mostly dry but some rain. The Basilisk Pant if you could expect heavy rain.
