tell me about it. i never saw that lightyear shit & prolly never will. his movie & show was a kick-ass spinoff already & toy story 4 ruined everything enough. i was almost six when the movie came out & had it on vhs. my old vcr still worked when i moved in october 2017 but my mom made me get rid of it & all my vhs tapes anyway :( i bought it on dvd from amazon last year & just started it

I know it's been a whole year later, and I'm essentially a nobody here, but I just wanna say, these comments here are simply AWESOME. I too grew up with BuzzLYofStarCommand and was very excited/skeptical when Lightyear hit theaters. Needless to say, it was a major letdown, and I truly can not comprehend how Pixar could push so hard the idea that LIGHTYEAR, was Andy's favorite film. There's not even a close comparison in story quality. Regardless, (I could type an essay about why this film makes no sense, but nobody wants to read that) Everyone here, in my opinion, has a quality understanding of what made the original story so timeless, and it's such a pleasure to see it. The rouges gallery was so hype Nos-4-a2, wire wolf, agent Z, and Zurg was just spot on, also they did the evil buzz from another universe way better as well.

Exactly, Disney is all about promoting strong female character… Mira fits the mold better than most of their modern day characters!

Since Kiara from Lion King 2 was ignored to hell and back, I've had no faith of similar non-fairytale princesses being included in the same vein 😮‍💨

Like it’s Andy’s imagination from when he was a kid?

Besides kids who watched the now movie were left bored...such a shame really, the only thing people seem to equally like from this movie is the cat (heck, Sox was the only reason I was considering myself to watch it on cinemas), but everything else...too serious and boring for the kids and too silly for the adults...making this film for almost no one...(also, in Toy Story the green aliens are an important part of the folklore in Buzz Lightyear, but they are never shown...it makes no sence and clearly this is NOT what made Andy and several kids go crazy for Buzz...)

I think Andy watched the movie and the series, and it makes it very important to Buzz's story arc, making both canon.

Exactly. Who would make a toy like Buzz out of this wet blanket? And how many kids would have seen it? It makes sense that the movie came out, which spun off into star command and SC Buzz inspired the toy.

Pixar has really become the best at disappointing toy story fans, 😒 COME ON PIXAR! can't they do a story set on a galactic scale? The possibilities are endless!

Pixar should have done a Premo CGI version of Buzz lightyear of Star command and people would have loved it.

Because that’s not what the movie was mainly about. They ended up colonized the planet when they were sending 50 years just to find a new fuel system to use (crystalic fusion) . The movie is about acceptance & letting go, and grow as a person. The movie was a origin.

@Legoben98 Productions I understand the important themes in Lightyear but they advertised it as "Buzz going on an intergalactic adventure" and that was a lie ,there wasn't an intergalactic adventure, it just took place on one pretty dull planet. The characters can go on a fun wacky space adventure and the movie can still teach themes of acceptance and letting go. Lightyear's box office numbers are clearly showing that fans weren't very satisfied with the film as a whole.

Total drama sinner medals- Wrath😈: Duncan - Could be multiple sins but wrath fit the best. He bullied Harold in TDA out of the anger of Courtney's elimination. Eva - well... duh Gwen - In season 1 it was so easy to annoy her. Gluttony😋: Ozzy - about Owen is obvious. Izzy, while she is not thinks about eating all the time, there were scenes that she really showed lust for food like the way she ate the pizza in TDA or multiple marshmallows in TDI. Envy🤬: Bridgette - She was jealous about Geoff being more popular than her, having more fans and flirting with female fans (thing lead to relationship crisis) Katie + Sadie - Anytime a cute boy pay attention for one of them, the other one get jealous. Trent - his storyline in TDA Sierra - Jealous on Gwen/any other female about Cody's attraction. Sloth🦥: Noah - His (sole) storyline in TDI. LOL he is the only sloth here. Don't worry in gen 2+3 version there will be more XD Greed🤑: DJ - it was hard to place DJ since he one of the most innocent characters. But I had to put him somewhere and I find greed fit the best. Dj moved to Owen's side in the finale and betrayed Gwen for party. Ezekiel - Stole the money from Heather (or Alejandro) in TDWT finale Geoff - was greedy about rating in TDA and was mean toward anyone to get his rating. Heather - Her main goal is the money. And she backstabbed people in TDI to made it to the finale. Lashawna - Her lying storyline from TDI. Lust💋: Alejandro - He fit for greed and pride as well. But I finds him fitting the best to lust. He relies on his look, flirting with many females (and showed some flirty behavior toward some males). And the writers never let us forget how he look without a shirt. Beth - She showed a sexual attraction toward males many times. kissing Cody for no reason, flirting/crushing on Justin and made him take his shirt off for her, kissing Harold and of course she "always gets her men. Cody - His womanizer behavior in TDI and the other times he flirted with Gwen. Harold - "I'm kind of scared of Gwen now. and kind of attracted to her. Don't tell Lashawna or Heather or Gwen" sexual attraction toward his female team members. Lindsay - She presented as the hot girl of the series at the moment she arrived. Tyler - Lindsay and him barley knew each other and already in the 5th episodes they were making out with so much lust. Pride👸➕🤴: Courtney - come on she is one of the most prideful people in the entire show. Justin - fits for lust as well. But since Alejandro is the lust, I placed Justin in pride and it fits to him. For me Justin is way more prideful than Alejandro. There were moments in TDA that Justin did not wanted to do the challenges to keep on his look because he has so much pride about it.

I couldn't agree more. The Television Series of Buzz Lightyear of Star Command is definitely and totally WAY better than the Pixar movie version of this year.

The Cartoon is way way better. There were so much charisma and personality in those characters Grew watching it when I was kid

Zurg reminds me a tiny version of Megatron of Transformers or even the villain from Iron Man 1 Buzz and Sox were the highlights 👍 Disney Movies back in the days were more enjoyable than now

The fact they went to incredible lengths to retcon an earlier rendition shows one of two possible scenarios. 1: the modern teams at Pixar didn't know of the original series and never looked at Disney archives 2: they were compromised by stricter regulations that forced a blander, more predictable movie.

the director of lightyear actually has talked about BLOSC on Twitter. like he retweeted a post about BLOSC and Lightyear being the equivalent of the Ghostbusters movie and animated stories and he responded with “exactly” I think he also made a thread on the LGMs, I’ll have to find it again.

@@elijaharroyo4846 The director actually talked about the LGM’s on twitter, since they were actually just a mascot for pizza planet the director headconnon is that the show has pizza planet as a sponsor. It makes sense since even in the first Toy Story movie buzz or the LGM’s never acted like they knew each other. The director actually had a been a director for the Toy Story segment for the original buzz lightyear movie and even has talked about the old show

You’ll be surprised that kids actually understand more than you think. From what I saw a lot of people liked the movie even kids.

@Caitlyn Carvalho I prefer Winter Soldier of the Marvel Universe to be the Equally Matched Worthy Adversary to Steve Rogers/Captain America. I Absolutely Love the Winter Soldier to be one of THE Best of the Best Marvel Villains of All Time Throughout the Years. He's a Absolute Badass.

Apparently some Pixar head honcho hated the cartoons and that's why Disney has distanced itself from the original franchise. They pulled a Star Wars on us and rewrote the whole universe in a much worse way.

I 100% agree. It had a lot of potential, but it just threw all that away. When I saw the trailer, it looked like the coolest thing I’ve ever seen, but boy was I wrong. Zurg was also missed potential. When I saw him he looked so cool, but it turns out, he’s just Buzz Lightyear in the future.

He did only talk about the movie, but it was a little misleading since he used footage from the entire show

The actual canon is that it’s just a different iteration of the buzz lightyear franchise. Like how the Ghostbusters movie is from the cartoon, or Batman 1989 is with BATMAN THE ANIMATED SERIES
