The original color palette leans towards the traditional Japanese painting and ukiyo-e style, while the new version features tones that are overly modern. I prefer the original version.

The newer Ishin is a full blown remake, so no. Also, last time I've checked, there are barely any mods for the game so it's unlikely you'll get any mods that make it closer to the original in terms of visuals.

Adding new immersion breaking things into the core combat system, worse character expressions, certain characters they've changed don't fit the roles of the characters before, different physics because of dragon engine, somehow they made newer character models look worse, ryoma looks like a mix between dragon engine kiryu and y5 kiryu which makes him look uncanny as hell. They did a remake because an ishin remaster wouldn't make sense in japan, so they made a remake that sucks some of the life out of the originals formula. Theres some real critisism, happy now?

They finally moved on from 2009 to 2014. Why is Sega always stuck a generation behind? Like a dragon ishin barely has dynamic shadows, the ambient occlussion sucks and they barely did anything. What they call a remaster is a port, and what they call a remake is a remaster. For fucks sake. Im happy they finally localized it though.

Low budget is main reason. The most expensive Sega game after fusion with Sammy is ... Yakuza 7 Like a Dragon with ,,only'' 21 000 000 $ budget. For comparasion Shenmue in 1998 had 80 000 000 $ budget, Panzer Dragoon Saga in 1998 had arround 50 000 000 $ budget. And those numbers are without inflation.

Also the texture is worst but aight I feel like people complaining are just complaining for the sake of it or blinded by nostalgia...

They ported it to Unreal Engine, touched up or replaced character models, recreated the lighting, and added new features. They essentially recreated the game using its old code, and a lot of its old assets. Not entirely dissimilar from the other Kiwami games (it's releasing in Japan as Ishin Kiwami), just that instead of using assets from 0 or 6, it's using its own.

Not exactly the best remaster unlike say metroid prime remastered this game's lighting smears the models plus all of the characters look very orange for some reason The depth of field is also terribly implemented at time giving the illusion of worse textures(they can probably fix that with an update) this seems a lot like an amateur fan remake even more so considering it's on unreal but hey at least it's localized modders will eventually fix it

It's a fun spin on old characters sure but most of the cast are different enough to be downright unrecognizable if it wasn't for the similar likeness besides even if you go by the narrative that the cast is the whole point isn't lazily replacing 5's characters with their charms that were integral to their implementation also a bad decision? This remaster is middle of the road i would've preferred a straight port but at least we have ishin in the west now

They didn’t, well for some of the Yakuza 7 characters they did, but most of the characters had their original models from 5/OG Ishin retextured

@@dalton5229and that worked much better, because most of the characters that weren't familiar felt new and fresh. that's what made every Yakuza game so unique, because the series always introduced new characters, but what you don't do is rinse and repeat. i actually think the graphics look fine in the remake, and Kashiwagi surprisingly looks better in the remake, but the bosses from Yakuza 0, and the guys Ichiban meets in Yakuza 7 like a dragon did not fit at all in the game. it felt like, they just threw them in because their all familiar characters up to this point. but that's what made the original like a dragon ishin so unique, because most of the characters in it at the time were new. now i don't know why people are fighting over graphics, my only problem with the remake, is how Yakuza overloaded it is with so many familiar characters. but it's still a good game, it's just that because you know who most of these characters are, it makes the story more predictable.

Last of Us was a PS3 game that had a remaster on PS4 one year later. You can play it on PS5 for $20 yet they are re-released it again for $70. Ishin was a PS3 game that was also on PS4 and was never released outside Japan. It will be new for the west. There's a huge difference.

I like yakuza series, but they really are going down with their newer games, this one in particular looks absolute trash, the remake treatment is bare minimum, there is hardly any improvement in texture quality of environment and cloth, character models look trash including npc, same crappy models are recycled again. The animation is recycled crap, you can easily tell that this is absolutely not worthy a remake, to call it remake is such a fraud, remaster would be more appropriate. Seems like they want to cash in very fast without doing some proper work. Its a great series, but to see it ruined like this, I hope you get what you deserve.

By the industry standards, a Remaster would essentially be unlocking the frame rate and resolution for newer hardware. This is a port to a new engine with reworked lighting, new voice overs, and not to mention, a huge translation and PC port.

Yeah, Ishin released before their other most popular entries like 0 and 7. Since the whole idea behind both Kenzan and Ishin was to represent mainline characters in a historical setting, it makes sense to include new fan favorites
