This is a very easy to use 5 try food dehydrator. It has a programmable LED display for both temperature and time. There are a couple of important steps to do before using the machine, but they are very easy and only need to be done once. First, remove and clean the trays. I washed them in a simple light dishwashing solution and then dried them, setting them aside for the moment. Wipe out the bottom of the unit with a damp towel and dry and then replace the trays. At this point you will want to run the machine for 30 minutes without anything on the trays. This removes the last of any impurities that might still be on the trays. Now the dehydrator is ready to use.
Load your food filled trays starting with the bottom tray and stacking upward. The manufacturer recommends using a minimum of three trays whether they all contain food or not. Place the cover over the trays and turn the unit on via the top button to the left of the LED display. Next press the set button and the hour display will start to flash on the display. Use the knob to the right of the LED screen to adjust the time up or down to your desired time frame for drying. Time range can be set between 1 and 24 hours in 1 hour increments for up to 24 hours. Press the set button again and repeat the process using the knob to adjust for your desired drying temperature. Temperature range can be set between 95ºF and 165ºF. There is a very nice Dehydrating Time and Temperature Chart inside your instruction manual that is an excellent resource for choosing the correct settings for your food that is to be dried. When finished simply hit the start button and let the dehydrator go to work.
There were several things that I really liked about this food dehydrator. One was it’s small footprint. It does not take up a lot of my counter space. All materials of the dehydrator are BPA-free and the trays are clear, making it easy to monitor the progress of the food dehydration process. There are enough trays to make plenty of dehydrated food at the same time, but you have the flexibility of using a smaller number of trays to make less. The trays are also dishwasher-safe making clean-up very easy. The controls are intuitive to use and I found the initial set up to be fairly easy to do. The dehydrator has low energy consumption, using just 350watts of drying power and a specially designed 4-inch fan along with a 2,500-RPM motor to dry food quickly and quietly without rotating trays.
