I agree first video was clever and enjoyed watching and listening. Country did such a great job as she usually good. Thanks for the vid and reactions. Take care yourself 🙏🙏🙏
The story behind the mic drop was after she performed on AGT many said she was just a rocker. While she was in the studio she said she took time to record 4 covers the way she wanted to. This one was the last cover of different genres that were all big hits. It was her notice that she was finished with her mini EP recording. These songs got recorded in the back room of that studio where they kept the amps and misc recording items.
Hi. Sorry you haven't been feeling well. Hope you're on the mend. So glad you were able to get to this comparison. The 'Lil Nas' version of 'Old Town Road' set all kinds of charting records and was a massive hit. Courtney said when she first heard this song, she said she could envision in her head a whole different way this song could be sung, and she just had to sing it. Fortunately for all of us, she did, because what she did with it is magnificent. Courtney, besides writing and recording her own dynamite original music, is known for taking covers and re-inventing them into what are basically whole new originals. Often she completely changes the genre, as she did here. However, I think this performance goes beyond the category of re-inventing a song. She basically dismembered the Country/Hip Hop original version and put it back together as this sensational rock anthem. Her creativity is just off the charts. I know there are hundreds of millions of people that listened to the original of 'Old Town Road', but I have to say, I have never heard a single person who has heard both the original and Courtney's version, that preferred the original. Most say that Courtney blew the original completely out of the water. Courtney has four covers of massive hit songs that she re-invented into something totally different on her 'Cover Sessions' EP. You've reacted to 'Sign of the Times' and now, 'Old Town Road'. Would love to hear you react to the two remaining Courtney covers. One is 'Sucker', originally a pop hit for the Jonas Bros, and the other is 'Someone You Loved', originally by Lewis Capaldi. I promise you won't be disappointed. Great reaction. Looking forward to more.
Courtney's version of the song is incredible, makes the original sound dull by comparison. Her energy is off the charts, and she deserved the drop the mic moment.
Interesting to see the two versions side-by-side. Lil Naz's version is mostly country-rap. Courtney's version is moved into the hard rock genre (props to the guitarist!). Courtney finishing with a mic drop seems to be saying "Top That!"
Love that guitarists style in all 4 songs on her Cover Sessions EP. I've been reading some comments who feel Courtney would benefit from a good solo in some of her new originals. Although I don't think she necessarily needs solos in her new songs, I do think a guitarist like this guy helps color her songs nicely. She's go one of the rare voices that make you want to pay attention to her, especially on a stage. Not sure you knew, but the mic drop was her way of saying this was my last song for my Cover Sessions EP and to those who thought I could only rock out I've showed in my other songs that I'm a bit more than that. For me I thought making this rock version of the #1 hit song for such a long time was just her letting people know, Yes I can rock out still too. Even if I'm wrong it's a nice touch. She's got so much sassy attitude and is so natural at being that way that, who knows with her, it may just have been one of those in the moment gestures that she lives in. 🙂
Hard to believe this was posted almost four months ago and I'm just now seeing it. I don't think I've seen two versions of this song side by side. Loved it, Thank you. Seen allotta reactions to just Courtney's though. Even people who hated the original love hers😃
