She didn't leave it because of the Nazis, she left it because of the allies increasing hostility against Germany and their looming attacks and the war that was about the break out. During the Nazi era in the 30's before the war Germany had an immense recovery and new life, compared to the horrible 20's when Germans were subjected to all kinds of crimes and misery by the allies, and were being gunned down in the Streets by communist terrorists. A little fact that is widely censored by the mainstream narrative is that a lot of UK people admired the rebuild of Germany in the 30's and Hitler's economic miracle. Many of them wanted that in the UK too because the population were dealing with high unemployment, poverty. The fault is on the UK crown and military, that people like Harvey that had family in both Germany and the UK, were forced into a nightmare and had their lives ruined, for attacking Germany, because Germany never and they offered peace more than once too

After it became known that she continued to receive Jewish colleagues in her home, she was observed by the Gestapo and was subsequently considered unreliable. Harvey finally left Germany in 1939 and emigrated to Juan-les-Pins. She made her last film there in 1940, Miquette, and after the occupation of southern France, she returned to Hollywood in 1942.
