There is a colony of sea lions at Cape Cross in Namibia that, at some point, had 180,000 sea lions. We picnicked five miles from there, under the wind, and the stench was unbearable, even five miles away 🤮🤮🤮. We had said that if the winter in Chicago was cold, we would go somewhere warm(er) and Peru was on top of our list. But since the winter has been mild, it won't be this year 😪😪😪. We're jealous.
What an experience! Didn't even know you could do that. The sealions didn't seem scared at all by the people. The food at the restaurant looked so delicious! I can see why Amy wanted more tacos!
The Near & Away yeah, I’m pretty sure I could never get my wife signed up for that one ;) she’s pretty much allergic to anything cold! But what a beautiful, scenic boat trip and definitely a once in a lifetime opportunity to swim with those big guys. I’m amazed that they seemed pretty well behaved. When I’ve watched them in SF and other places, they always seems pretty easily agitated (and of course smelly). Glad they were nice and playful! Oh man, the suits were wet!? I would be dying in the cold but looks like you handled it like a champ! I'm not sure if I could handle the cold but swimming with those cute sea lions are amazing!! All the restaurants you guys visited looked delicious. That creme brulee!!
That coastline looks like it could be off the west coast of Ireland - I had no idea parts of Peru looked like this. Wow, thats a lot of sea lions! Good on you both for jumping right in, crazy to be so close to them. Would love to try that ceviche... Your food b-roll is really impressive!
Oh nooooo! I would be so cold too. I hate when the wet suits are already wet, even when it's warm. I felt so cold just watching this xD It still looked like it was fun. The food afterwards looked amazing too! Thanks for sharing this and being realistic about the experience :D you'll laugh about it in a few weeks haha!
To the people who is watching this video, You must know that tacos are foreign dish in Peru, the reason could be that the owners are mexicans and peruvians, that could explain the presence of that foreign dish. Try peruvian dishes in USA like: lomo Saltado, papas rellenas, pollo a la brasa, ceviche, chupe de camarones, arroz con mariscos (rice with seafood), etc.
LOL That's way funny - we did see a few sealions in Paracas, but definitely didn't jump in to swim with them. What's wrong with Lima being so gloomy all the time? We talked before when we talked about food - I feel like we missed out Lima food scene and the only cool foodie experience we had was in Central Restaurant. WO, that's a LOT of sea lions! 😂 Amy sounds so enthusiastic about them. I can almost feel the cold. Actually, maybe I can remember it considering I did my SCUBA Open Water qualification in the UK in winter in 4 deg Celcius water in a leaky dry suit. Funnily enough, I did a freediving course last week and my visualisation technique was to imagine myself swimming with some playful sea lion pups. Mmmmm, I want some of those tacos. P.s. cool hat!
You always spectacular Broll - love it with that song (I use Artlist as well). I've heard recently on a nature film (with David Attenborough's voice of course) that Peru is one of the most active places for wildlife in the world. Totally makes sense with that amount of sea lions in that area. Definitely an adventure of a lifetime! -c/t
