Loved this video, but I gotta be honest, it was a little weird at the beginning to go up to people who just accomplished a marathon and then be like "yeah but there's this other guy doing harder stuff." The interview with the young guy seemed like it was going to be congratulatory on his marathon and then just started talking about another guy doing more challenging distances, kinda undervalued the runners. I wouldn't want to finish a race and then seconds later be asked to comment on how cool and crazy another runner doing something longer than me is.

At the end of this race: "Hey buddy! good job but what if I told you that even tho you are tired and have accomplished such an amazing task David Goggins just ran 240 miles in little over 2 days with no rest whatsoever and a hurt ankle?" trackleaders.com/moab240-20i.php?name=David_Goggins

Well hearing the opinion of marathoners on the run would be better for the video than the casual person. And dont think people are that emotional to be offended, especially people who just finished a run. Hard to get me emotional after a long run

I can see why people would think that but actually they're the right people to ask. You're not going to ask some random Joe on the street who may have no interest in running, how can they give a serious answer.

After the question to the marathoners, right after they finished. Wonder what he would say if immediately after finishing 300 miles, he was asked, "yeah but, what would you say about someone who can do more?". 🙄

I have run a dozen or so marathons and a couple of 50K races. If someone came up to me at the finishline and ridiculed the distance that I just completed, I would shove that microfone right down their throat. Otherwise, it was interesting and uplifting to watch.
@goo5976
@goo5976 3 года назад
Why? I mean its true. I've ran 2 marathons and a 50k and immediately went back to the drawing books. I didn't feel accomplished or like my limits were reached. I also don't run those distances for a fleeing sense of pride. They're just miles.

What a great movie! Amazing how some are driven to take more extreme events to prove what we all know that "anything is possible". For me, swimming 5km open water last week proved to me that anything is possible. I am almot 60, have gallstones and recently had general surgery to remove kidney stones. Life goes on. Thank you for sharing this amazing achievement!

I loved this video. Thank you for sharing!! You are right, there are no limits other than the ones you set yourself. I'm very sorry for the loss of your baby girl; my wife and I lost our boy, Oscar, to preeclampsia on 01/02/21. I hated running, and to be honest, I hated exercising, all my life. Since January I started running to forget, but found peace and my son's presence the farther I go. I will be running my first marathon in November (NYC), and I'm running it on Oscar's behalf.

We are so sorry about the loss of your daughter and hope you will find peace through such unbearable loss by knowing that so many people have been touched by the hard work and team work with family and friends that made a young man's dream possible. Best wishes to you all and thanks.

@@icculus19 The title is not all what it is about. "Born to Run - A Hidden Tribe, Superathletes, and the Greatest Race the World Has Never Seen". It is about our ancestors, persistant running, nutrition, barefoot running and the running shoe industry, besides Tarahumara. Highly recommended (audio)book. Matthew McConaughey should play in the movie but it is on hold... that would give the book a bigger audience and probably more people would re-think running with expensive running shoes....

Can't see beyond the fact that most people doing these sort of things try to justify it in some noble or altruistic way when it is apparent that it's a selfish act that burdens the family, all for the constant craving of attention.

Anything is NOT possible. I've done ultramarathons. Barefooted. Yes, you can do a hell of a lot more than you expect, and in that case, you can keep pressing ahead. But there will come a point beyond which you will cause yourself damage. The truly difficult thing is to judge that point. This is excruciatingly difficult to do when your brain is exhausted. Brainlessly pressing ahead in spite of everything is easy. Maintaining a rational state of mind to avoid crossing into injury territory is not.

Like other viewers, as a keen runner was interested in this vid, but was pretty tough to watch. Exceptional athleticism, but the film making is abysmal. Something that is surely easily improved - hell, if he can train to run 300 miles, then hopefully the film maker can improve too. Maybe take notes from the GingerRunner and Beau Miles on film making about runners.
