The boss of a stretch limo company, Nauman Hussain, was sentenced to 15 years for his role in a terrible crash that killed 20 people in New York. In 2018, the victims were celebrating a 30th birthday when the limo driver sped through a stop sign and struck a parked car. No one in the limo survived. The limo had faulty brakes and was determined to be unfit for the road. With Hussain's sentencing, some grieving family members feel some measure of justice was done.

The value of a life has gone down the drain in the justice system. 20 lives gone, 15 years but a minimum of 5. It’s disgusting
@samuelbekele3601
@samuelbekele3601 Год назад
I see nothing wrong with it, it's not like it was intentional. Harsher penalties don't reduce crime. Preventative action does.
@HOOLITHEWORLD
@HOOLITHEWORLD Год назад
@@samuelbekele3601It’s definitely intentional if he was going 60 miles an hour. Also, knowing that car wasn’t supposed to be operated is also intentional. The number one reasoning for this behavior is complacency. He just didn’t care. Also, the law requiring longer sentences has been effective in lowering crime. Within three years, crimes covered by the law fell an estimated 8 percent. Seven years after the law changed, these crimes were down 20 percent. In recent years, almost every state has adopted some form of "sentence enhancements" as a way to fight crime. These laws come under a variety of names including "three strikes and you're out," determinate sentencing laws, and repeat-offender enhancements. Regardless of the name, they all share one common feature: stiffer punishments for offenders committing the most serious crimes.
@samuelbekele3601
@samuelbekele3601 Год назад
@@HOOLITHEWORLD You can't prove it was intentional beyond a reasonable doubt, you're just speculating. Crime rates have been going down for decades, attributing harsher sentencing over the past seven is illogical.
@HOOLITHEWORLD
@HOOLITHEWORLD Год назад
@@samuelbekele3601 Both the FBI and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported a roughly 30% increase in the U.S. murder rate between 2019 and 2020, marking one of the largest year-over-year increases ever recorded. Less punishment for these crimes have gone down meaning crime will rise significantly look at Chicago that should be proof on it’s own just a while back kids were wrecking havoc on the suburbs of Chicago nothing was done and what did they do they did worse crimes and more crimes on top of what they were already doing. Los Angeles/ San Francisco Theft is crazy out there no harsh punishments means more crime increase nothing is being done which means what more crime is going to continue that’s just basic common sense.

Apples and oranges. This man has nothing to do with deaths directly. He is simply accused of not maintaining vehicle/brakes when he should have. @@aydarusjamai Sure looks like a limo was never designed with safety in mind. What happens if the brakes simply failed on that day? Accidents happen with other vehicle types too, but people survive because of seat-belts, airbags, structural integrity from factory etc. A limo is just an unsafe vehicle. If anything, the regulators should be the one to go to jail. If the limo boss was caucasian this case would probably would have taken a different turn.

When one owns a transportation company such as this Limo service, the owner is required by law to have the vehicle, or vehicles maintained and serviced, and inspected by a outside company showing annual maintenance reports on record along with company insurance and vehicle insurance. Clash of cultures, "the disciplined law abiding" against "non emphatic selfish behavioral". I do not understand how it is possible that -previous- he was sentences to community service. Still 15 years is nothing compared to the lose of 20 souls. To my opinion it is the most severe form of "giving a s**t and don't care about others in a manner that makes it murder. He know the risks, but still chose to ignore it, that makes it murder in my book.

Sorry, it should have been 15 years for each person he killed and consecutive not concurrent. I mean, the minimum is 5 years so he could be out if he is on good behaviour. Did he ever apologize to the families? One family lost 4 daughters (they have one daughter still alive)and another family lost 2 sons (did they have another other children?). Other families who lost loved ones were just as tragic.

driver was the one speeding through a stop sign. Company boss should bear some resposibility for the accident but I think 15 yrs is putting the blame mostly on the wrong person

It's possible that he was speeding because the brakes gave out.

@@kiciacoldspring1621 now that I think back on this case, I think you're right. The limo was going downhill and couldn't slow down or stop, so the driver might not be at fault

he wasn't the driver, so why it matters if he was drunk. he was the company's boss.
