I'm old enough to remember watching this as it aired. Limp Bizkit were HUGE! Nookie was THE song of that summer. Back then, nu-metal was a fresh sound, and Limp Bizkit and Korn were the kings of it.
For those asking.. They are playing - 4:53 i'm broke - 08:50 Nookie - 13:13 Ice cube - wicked cover (guitar riff only) / with LB take a look around lyrics.
I can't believe so many people say Fred is not a good vocalist. Sure, he's not great at melodic singing, but his dynamics are fantastic, and he's an underrated screamer imo.
@@psychedelicpain420 I call them boomers because they are complaining about "kids these days and their phones". I was 13 in 2000 so I experienced this but I don't do some boomer ass shit like this.
I remember watching this live . I was at home doing laundry . Telling myself when I get older , I'm going to party 🥳like that st those MTV party's .. now I'm Turing 35 and trying to figure out how to build a time machine to go back to those days .
Life was so real back then, I missed out, everything is so BS / fake now. No tiktok based personalities, no popular social media, everything was just better.
it's hard to comprehend hearing this for the first time ever, just on MTV on Memorial Day weekend. What an absolute monster this song was for this summer. They sounded great live as a credit to them too.
Man MTV back then seemed to really know how to connect with the younger/teen era. The most popular music combined with a highly energetic spring break location was absolute marketing GENIUS! What happened??
Now in 2023 MTV has 15 and pregnant and drag shows. Our society has completely collapsed. I hope everyone enjoyed these times because they are long, long gone.
This is the gig that broke LB into the mainstream. I recall watching it at the time & digging it, as I was already into rap/rock bands like 311, Korn, & RATM. It’s hard to believe now, but at one time MTV was actually about music and not un-reality shows. They could have a huge impact on a band making it or not. Bizkit caught the tail end of that era.
Miss this era... Singer can sing, better than JB, MC, SG etc. Music was played by human, not playback And when people enjoyed music, not just hold their phone
Final golden MTV era for music. It was always interesting coming from High School and tuning into TRL and seeing Limp Bizkit & Korn music videos along the likes of Backstreet Boys and Britney. 1997-2001 may have been the best era to see those 'heavier' bands on mainstream.
Back when this happened, I was pissed at limp bizkit because they went soft compared to three dollar bill, yall. I was 17 in 1999 and all I wanted to do was scream and fuck shit up in the pit. Now I'm 34 and I listen to blue grass and complain about back pain.
Man I wish I was born much earlier than I was to have been able to be much older around this time that all my favorite nu metal bands were huge 90s early 00s were the best times to be alive back then to someone who was old enough
I was an early 90s baby I'm blessed with what I had, but it would've been amazing to see these nu metal bands when Nu metal was new, and was the most popular music.
Miss the days of concerts with no phones and everyone fully emerged. I went to Metallica last week and it seemed like almost everyone watched the show thru their phones. It’s sad honestly
Fred was actually pretty damn funny in this interview, didn't realize how funny he was. "Actually we're blowing up the boat so we gotta stay here" and "unfortunately I'm on the recorder... which is something we'll just have to deal with" lul
i know limp bizkit was kind of played down our throats for a tad too long- but they sure had their moment- this looks like an awesome little 10 min to be at- and what is that little freestyle thing at the end? they should have made that into a song

Yes it is a riff of Angel Of Death by Slayer and it's from the guitar riff of the Public Enemy song "Channel Zero". And the band M.O.P. used that riff for their song "Raise Hell"
