Haha... very well observed friend. But technique wise, he's far better. Sounds like unreal but its true in my observation coz his forehand is more like that of Ma Long which means more spin variation/deception and efficiency than that of Fan Zhendong. His backhand is better (more versatile) than that of both Ma Long and Fan Zhendong. I don't mean in terms of stamina as he's still new but I mean by technical point of view. He is really2 good.

@@VinhNguyen-fh8qp No he's not. You felt that only because of his body like Fzd. His playing forehand technique is like Ma Long and backhand is also different from Fzd's but even more effective. Fzd's backhand is mostly only near the table aggressive and backhand flick, while Lin Shidong can both close and far to the table equally effective and effortlessly. He doesn't stay that low as Fzd and this is his strength coz Fzd stays sometimes too low that's why he can't deliver enough speed/spin and loses against player like Dima Ovtcharov. That's why Lin Shidong is far better technically than Fzd, even Ma Long coz his backhand is better than that of Ma Long.

They all learned that compressed nuclear backhand with zero loading time.

It's because the new gen isn't conditioned as much to go for play styles that were tailored to a completely different kind of ball. The ogs basically internalized what can now be regarded as sub-optimal technique. And it's way harder to adjust your technique than to develop the superior one right away.
