I LOVE this! I also LOVE how Paul and Linda clicked. Their lives together were all about love, in so many forms. Love for one another, for family, for animals, for the earth, for music. I adore animals! I am a professional cellist with 3 cats, 3 dogs, I had a beautiful Arabian mare for 21 years. I rescued animals and since I was a wee child, I used to cry when I realized what most food was. The planet would be much better off if all humans stopped eating meat. Animals have a right to live wonderful happy lives, just as much as we do. Humans are so cruel to the most amazing creatures on this earth. Thanks to Paul and his daughters for promoting healthy vegan life! ❤
Linda Mccartney was Paul's loving wife Who learned to play the keyboards and added her lovely voice on several songs such as another day , take It away, with a little luck ,we all remember the late 70's and the 80's and we remember Linda and Paul singing and playing their songs for everyone, this Is a beautiful homage to her activism to protect animals and helping us to have better eating hábitos
I gave my Mum a Grandmother Remembers Family Recipes book . She filled it out with all her recipes , family photos and stories 🥹 and gave it back to me ❤. I cherish that book every day . Thank you our dear lil Mum ❤
This was great. Thank you. I’ve been vegan for 9 years. When Paul toured Perth Australia a few years back, there was an opportunity/competition meet him. People were chosen based on their question. I asked what’s his go to meal when on tour. Well I didn’t get chosen. But it’s been good to hear the McCartney’s talk about food; being that food is a constant topic in our house. Well, when you marry an Italian what do you expect 😂
Linda McCartney's Family Kitchen recipe book does not disappoint. It's a hardcover book of substantial weight and it's beautifully illustrated. There are family photos and stories and appetizing photos of each recipe throughout the cookbook. My three favorite colors are even featured on the cover, tangerine, amethyst, and lovely shades of green:-) I've spent the last two days trying to decide which recipe to try first. Tomorrow will be the day I choose one of them. It was so hard to decide, but fortunately, I have the ingredients to make quite a few of the recipes this week:-)
when I was a kid.. my mom was a gourmet cook... my dad was partial to his vittles, as they say... and when I was 16 I announced that I was a vegetarian now... my mom says... hey.. you can cook your own meals then... and she added something about not being a short order cook... bless her heart ❤️.. I learned how to cook from someone who really knew how.. and my dad was in the army.. we traveled all over the World.. she learned many styles of cooking... but especially the New Mexico Mexican food I love the most... so I learned how without meat.. she supervised at first... and added to my knowledge as the years went by... I lost her to cancer 40 years ago... i quit drinking and partying immediately thereafter... today is my 40th AA birthday... thanks for sharing, folks... family first.. I get high cooking good things for the people I love... it's like a birthday present for my mom... every day The Navajo here in Arizona and New Mexico where I live, greet each other and each new day, saying Walk in Beauty they are very wise people Peace ✌️
His Holiness the Dalai Lama promotes vegetarian diet... he's also from Tibet... the average altitude of the Tibetan plateau is 5000 meters... the highest point in N America is about 500 meters less... the growing season is about 8 weeks... the poppies and cannabis they grow are food... poppy seeds ground into a flour can be used in lieu of rice and wheat... so... you know those folks over there who look like they are 900 years old?... they are...;;~} when we provide the neurotransmitters.. our bodies manufacture endogenous stem cells intead.. they can literally fix everything... HH the Dalai Lama also swats mosquitos... who obviously love life as much as thee and me.. that's why they dodge... it's actually helping the mosquitoes breed a better, quicker, mosquito I have been recovering from severe radiation poisoning... the meat kept me alive... it's ok... worrying about other people's behavior only gives us gray hair.. doesn't help at all... there's lots of other stuff to worry about... like feeding hungry Children... I'm working on it
I've known vegetarians since the late 70s...nothing strange and no one made fun of anyone.. I'm not vegan , but I eat vegetables every single day and meat a couple times a week always have and I am fine this way. I grew up in New York so maybe that's the difference here. Linda was such a special person🌹
Do they want to rid of the animals we eat and harvest for food? What’s going to happen to them, are going to keep the cows, pigs, chickens… as pets ? I have nothing against vegetarians. I was one for years. Love Paul and his family
This family have done some good things. Caring for animals and reducing their suffering is a very noble ambition. Denying yourself meat is a form of fasting.
@@claresherman2278 We are designed to require high quality proteins to maintain strength whilst hunting bison ( obviously not so much now ! ). I’d say we are gradually becoming more civilised and less meat dependant. But the natural urge to eat meat hasn’t quite gone away altogether for most humans. Refraining from eating meat is still denying yourself a vital protein source. You have to practice vegetarianism and it initIally requires a lot of will power which is a ‘ form’ of non religious fasting. Ok ?
Linda Eastman McCartney was AHEAD of her time. She wanted nature, family, animals, simple life, love and peace. When all that “fame” happened she turned around and went inward. Wise. Well played, Linda. I wish they all talked about her more including Macca
clearly looks like charmed lives, some people definitely seem to lead or have~~~~~~~~ maybe we all do, in our own ways... or maybe we're just super-lucky like some people we think we know of~... god only knows what we'd be without certain influences or whatever, eh?
Yesterday, Oct 4th we lost Lizzie Bravo, the brazilian girl who was backing vocals on Beatles' song Across the Universe (the Past Masters version - 1988). RIP.
Linda would be so proud of her children and all they have accomplished in their own right. She obviously was and continues to be a huge inspiration to her family and a great hands on mom who practiced what she preached! Its wonderful that they are such a close family. Its obvious by seeing how comfortable they all are together.
Paul is the coolest dude ever. He had a successful marriage, raised a beautiful family, and still blesses us with his music. What a wonderful way to honor Linda.
I finally got this book, thanks so much. I don't know what I want to cook first...love you Paul, Mary and Stella. Loved your Mom Linda too, wish I was more like her.,.what a love..
Paul is my hero!!!@@!! I'll never forget watching his video, Beyond glass doors...10 years later after watching that horror I'm crying About the horror and trauma, everything Diffused on the animals. How could anyone ever eat meat again!!!
Music came first, Rebekka. He is a Beatle and blew us away in the sixties in the most amazing band ever: The Beatles. It seems you think he is married man with children than suddenly decided to compose and sing... No, raising kids came later and he did it very well. But that is not the most important thing he offered to the world. He offered a revolution of behaviour, he turned rock n roll to ARt, he, and his mates, changed the world, made us think, Invited to the most magical tour ever...He opened our eyes! Including for us to stop eating meat.
Stella has her dad's style of communicating and mannerisms as well, so cool to watch. And Mary reminds me of Linda's sweetness and gentle voice. Paul's daughters are a gem. He and Lin did a great job raising their kids.
My daughter announced that she was a vegetarian at age 8. Now she's 23 and I just bought this book as a Christmas present for her. Well done McCartneys. You raised a lovely family and clearly Linda was a wonderful woman.
My dad was a Texas cattle rancher, and we were raised to eat beef every single day. I moved to California when I was 30, and recently was stuck on Interstate 10 behind a traffic accident. The vehicle in front of me was a cattle truck with cows I knew were on their way to slaughter. For more than 30 minutes, those cattle stared at me with terror in their eyes. I wanted so much to open the back of the trailer and release them, but I didn't have the courage (or the tools). From that moment, I've had a strong desire to stop eating meat. I have no idea how to cook that way, and I'm not very keen on veg, but I'm ordering this book in hopes that I can successfully make the switch. I used to work for Ellen DeGeneres, and her chef once made me a vegan dish that I loved, yet I know that there were vegetables in that dish I'd never think about touching in their raw state. I'm very hopeful that this cookbook will help me make the transition to a healthier, more humane lifestyle.
Hey Allison, good on you! it gets easier every day, so many options of plant based mince, nuggets, patties.. the only thing I regret about being vegan is that I didn’t do it sooner
But doesn't it bother you that plants react to fear and perhaps pain also . Something to consider . Animal protein is what increased early man's brain power to help us to become who we are today. It seems that humans were made to eat meat , or at least eat fish , eggs and cheese .
I once was on the 60 freeway here in Los Angeles and there was traffic due to a huge truck tipping over and the truck happened to be carrying pigs and those pigs were running around all over through the stopped traffic and it broke my heart to see them all running away. I interpreted it as they were literally running for their lives. I was already a vegetarian at that time but it really made me wish more people would see these animals as equals.
“ Her chef “ There are some people I just know I would never like to respect ,and Degeneres is on top of the list. No offence to you of course . I hope you successfully make the leap off meat . Bon chance ,
@@SydneyDrums I've started with the discovery of those pre-packaged salads. Those are working. We have the McCartney cookbooks now, too. The new one is wrapped as a Christmas present, but we did use Linda's cookbook for Shepard's Pie. That was actually wonderful. Inch by inch. Step by Step or, as Ted Lasso would say, bird by bird.
Paul's sandwich description is so unaffected and hilarious. He is quite determined to get his recipe across. Love the dry humor, and how truly down to earth!
Carolyn Rabbani Yes.....despite how often and how many times his daughters interrupted him and whatever the conversation, he still kept on trying to get his sandwich recipe(s) out and across......I really felt both daughters were actually rude because of their continuous interruptions of Paul's attempts at starting and/or finishing any thoughts he was trying to get across : ( I actually was really surprised at their rudeness. They were both clueless about their lack of manners displayed to their father. I'm sure they didn't do it deliberately but I was totally shocked. I say this because I was annoyed trying to listen to Paul trying to complete what he had to say......and being unable to because of their continuous interrupting or talking to eachother !!! It was also rude to the interviewer !!!!
Dear, Paul,Mary,Stella, I own a first American edition of Linda McCartney's Home Cooking! The photos and settings are fantastic! The recipes are even better and so yummy! Her photography is awesome! We have never forgotten the lovely Linda!
The photography is amazing!! I just gave to a dedicated fan of Linda's my first edition. It still looks nearly brand new, absolutely gorgeous even if only to read & admire 📖☮️
Such a great interview, I'm a 14 year old from Hyderabad, India 🇮🇳, the beatles music was passed on to me by my parents particularly my mother she was and still is a huge mccartney fan girl, Sir Paul mccartney is a literally the biggest and most famous rock star even today and I recently read about his wife Linda and she's a true inspiration, Mr mccartney all I wanna say your music has thought me more things than any other person ❤.
It's so easy to be a vegetarian/vegan nowadays. I stopped eating meat 40 odd years ago, when I was 9 yrs old and it was quite nightmarish finding good food (luckily my Mum was incredibly supportive, although we did go through the "experimental" period). I had Linda's first vegi cookbook (Christmas present from my Mum) which was amazing but it was full of recipes that used manufactured vegi burgers, rashers etc which weren't even available in the UK at the time. I hasten to add that situation improved quickly thanks to Linda's burgers, sausages etc! Linda is so missed, what an amazing woman she was.
Paul really loved his Linda. She still today, influences him. He's a decent guy. A billionaire that actually cares. A beautiful conversation including two of their adult children. Deeply touching. I relate 100% to Linda's sensitivity to letting animals live happily without humans doing harm to them.
This is so wonderful honoring Linda's legacy. She was a vegan pioneer, great musician and loving wife. Her and Paul's daughters seem like wonderful, caring and thoughtful people. Quite talented as well. Romesh, you seem like a nice person and are a great interviewer but PLEASE learn how to cook. It's not complex or intimidating and yet so liberating. You have fantastic mentors if you want. Thanks, all.
This is so far and away the best, most fun, interview with Paul I've ever seen. I couldn't stop watching. I've been vegan going on 30 years and my wife longer, and we've raised two beautiful daughters as vegans. It's great and a tremendous relief that things have become *so* much easier, for all the reasons cited. It's also great that the family revised Linda's recipes to be vegan. Gonna get a copy. Great conversation.
@@marvymarier8988 the original cookbook was "vegetarian" ...no meat at all (that was the reason for the book) but still included dairy... the new one is all plant-based "vegan" ...today it is easy to use cashew, almond, coconut milk/cream/cheeses in recipes that formerly used cow's milk products... as those items are widely available now, hence this thoughtful update..
What a nice family, a tribute to wonderful woman who never really got credit for being a seminal, creative talent who did so many things. I have met people in Tucson who chanced upon Linda when she spent the winter months there. They invariably comment on how gracious she was.
I love everything about this interview. Paul with his lovely daughters. There is nothing like being flank by your 2 adoring daughters to make a man real and unguarded. Paul is referring to his missalette he received at communion to bring to mass as a child. I had one too. Those early principles get embedded and never really leave. What did Jesus say about the virtues of faith hope and charity. The greatest is charity. All you need is love. They should have there own show. Just beautiful.
@@glennoc8585 nobody asked for the sexist comment, Glen. Men and women are equally capable of interrupting. Please keep that attitude to yourself in the future. The point Hortense was making is that in most interviews, the interviewer (no matter their gender) will just listen and marvel, because they're taking to Paul McCartney. But Stella and Mary are just talking to their dad, so they're casual. And it allows him to relax and we see a more genuine, unguarded side to him. It's beautiful.
I loved this lighted interview. The chemistry between Paul and his daughters is wonderful. Loved the funny part about the kids excitedly asking mom and dad if they could try the bbq chicken on the beach and Paul saying, “by all means try it” and then jokingly saying, “traitor”. lol. I’m not vegan, but certainly getting closer. I’m a minister of the gospel and recently I had a dream where Jesus invited me up to heaven to hang out and play Beatles music with him. Since then my love for Beatles music has been rekindled, especially Paul’s melodic love songs. I’m now praying for Paul everyday because I’m blown away by this man who is 80 years old and still doing concerts. Amazing!
@Topazthecat Agreed. Yep she took some fantastic photos of her family, musicians, all sorts of scenes but most importantly a wife, mother and animal lover. 🐕🐶😻😺
This was great to see Sir Paul McCartney and daughters talking about their “Mum” Linda McCartney with a new cookbook and the lifestyle of growing up in the McCartney household living in the country back in the early days eating vegetarian 🌱 good healthy eating is what it’s all about right especially these days where everything is fast food everywhere all you need is love thank you all McCartney family peace and love always ✌️as Ringo would say.
Genuine random thoughts here- healthy eating really? Linda McCartney died at 56. Deprived of certain nutrients. All that sugar! Stella - trust me - everyone was eating quiche Lorraine in the 70's.
I'm not a vegetarian and totally respect those that are but it's so nice and refreshing to see and hear Paul and his family talk about something other than music or show business. And I'm a huge Beatles fan but this clip gives you a glimpse of him and his family just talking about everyday living. Just like any other family! Thanks for posting this! Merry Christmas!
Kudos to Paul McCartney and his beautiful family. A successful talented brilliant man raised wonderful intelligent beautiful children. Enjoyed this interview thoroughly.
What a lovely family. Linda is sorely missed. I actually turned veggie after reading her introduction to her first book, which explained why she was vegetarian and it made a lot of sense to me.
This is so lovely, and so interesting to eavesdrop on their thoughts on these subjects -but why does everyone talk over the top of Mary? Let the woman finish her sentences please!
@@tdunph4250 I agree..Mary reminds me a lot of Linda. She has dark hair like Paul but looks and acts like Linda… if you ever saw a picture of Linda’s Mom.. Mary looks like her too!🥰
It would be very interesting to hear the adult children’s story of their childhood years being raised in the McCartney household and all their experiences and how they created a life of their own.
When I became vegetarian in the ‘90’s I ordered something at Taco Bell without meat and the entire staff laughed at me. It was so strange. I didn’t get angry but I thought it was sad that there was such ignorance. Linda McCartney was brilliant. Her cookbook truly impacted the world. And this chat with her husband & girls is just so wonderful. Thank you.
Stella makes a terrific point about the working conditions for abattoir workers and that includes in wealthy nations. Insecure, low paid, labour hire and also heavily exposed to coronavirus.
Check out 'Greenhouses in Almeria Spain', the pollution that pours constantly into the ocean from them are an environmental disaster and the African workers are basically slaves paid to harvest the vegetables and fruit for less than minimum wage.
Paul and Linda’s marriage was something to behold. So pure. They were totally dedicated to their family and their homestead. Her death affected me deeply. This is a great testament to her appreciation of the natural world and the power of nurturing a sense of family. Just wow.
I just ordered the book. Beautiful story, and I feel the sincere passion in Linda which has translated to those amazing girls. Adored Paul for 50 years! Fabulous show!!!
I saw Paul and Linda with their Band Wings in Seattle in June of 1976, the first concert ever in the Kingdome; big fan of whatever he does pretty much.
Пол,Привет из Одессы!Люблю твои гениальные песни,счастлив ,что живу в одно время с тобой.Долгих и счастливых лет тебе.Был бы ещё больше горд и рад,если бы родился не 17 июня, а 18 как ты!
I'm thinking of buying the book. These types of cookbooks are not always easy for non-cooks to follow but she was a down to earth, practical kind of person & from the sound of it a self-taught vegetarian cook, so maybe I'll be re-inspired.
Always loved Linda and was so grateful when she first brought out her veggie food and cookbooks and still enjoy the veg burgers to this day! Lady of great compassion. Lovely that her family are discussing it and paying tribute to her🙏💚👏
I feel so identified with what they're saying...I've been vegetarian all my life & vegan for the last few years...and Linda McCartney was a pioneer among the famous people at the time & that was so cool!
This was so enjoyable. I've been a vegetarian for the past 32 years thanks to a free dish of vegetarian food from the Hare Krishnas at an Earth Day celebration in Chicago and the free book they handed me with the meal, "Diet for a Small Planet," which I read from cover to cover. Linda McCartney's book helped me along the way. I've become a lazy chef though and I think this new book may inspire me to cook again!
oh lord, Stella didn’t let anyone say a thing! Interrupting all the way through this interview… and that’s too bad cause I wanted to hear what others had to say without her interrupting…
Enjoyed this lovely interview. Vegetarian for 12 years vegan for three. Will look for this book. Look at Paul's concerts three hours straight, so much energy.
