Man, in 3.5 years, your guitar wall has changed dramatically. For the better I might add.

I'm watching this random video and think to myself, this guy could pass for Darrell Braun's exact twin, only he's super low key and never looks into the camera.

I love watching your videos for two reasons. I learn everything about guitars i need for build my telecaster, and i practice english grammar and listening. In spain we say: matar dos pájaros de un tiro 🤣🤣🤣 You are great, my friend 🤟

Nice demo. In all of the RU-vid demos of noise-reducing tele pickups, these sound the best to me so far.
@Ledzepfan88
@Ledzepfan88 8 лет назад
thank you! these sound awesome.. retains single coil clarity and reduces noise.. its a true single coil with hum bucking properties, brilliant.. don't get me wrong i love the typical hum bucker fatter sound but this is excellent, for purists who still want the single coil sound without having to spilt coils and not quite getting there.

Lovely review! Evans Eliminators, made here in Victoria BC by Rod Evans, are side-by-side humbuckers - six alnico poles in the bridge version, and 12 paired alnico poles in the neck version (to better capture the wider string travel at that point. Canadian content, you understand...

Between Fralin, Dimarzio Area T, and Kinman it's hard to believe anyone even bothers with non-noiseless pickups anymore. They've really got the noiseless thing down nowadays.

Sounds pretty good, will put these on my comparison lists with Kinman, Barden, etc. Funny, your camera is like a fish eye angle here, and bends the neck backward. Your videos are getting better and better all the time, no doubt. I know this is an older one.

These sound great and thanks for the demo. I have a set (also Blues) ready to install in my Tele but before I do I was wondering if that static sound we hear when you switch pickup positions is endemic to these pickups. It seemed to happen each time you switched from neck, to middle to bridge.

Lindy said that of the 4 outputs, the blues was the darkest, but as demoed here, they've still got plenty of sparkle and F sound.

Great tone, great demo ,Darryl . I am thinking of putting these ( blues specials )in my new fender Ultra Texas tea to replace the fender g4 noiseless, stock pups, Do you think this is a good idea ? ? Lindy seems to recommend 500 k pots these days for the blues Specials split blades.. I want a bit warmer fat Strat sound >>?

They sound fine. But I think my Fralin Vintage Hots sound a little bit richer/fatter. Same highs and lows, but these noiseless seem slightly "thin". Might be the hollow Tele. Unless you play clean, I don't think you could tell the difference, except for the noise of course.

I keep coming back to hear these pickups.well done. How's the balance between neck and bridge pickups. Could you do a comparison in sound to some real single coils .Thanks
@DarrellBraunGuitar
@DarrellBraunGuitar 8 лет назад
+Pinch loaf The balance is pretty close. I lowered the neck pickup a bit to achieve it. I'll do a single coil shout-out video in the future and include them - stay tuned to the channel :)

Great Tone ! 250K or 500k Vol Pot ? Would you suggest a 500K pot for Hotter Split coils ? My reasoning is that the Hotter Pickup will provide creamy saturation distortion as in your video (which sounds awesome) and the 500k pot on clean settings ,would compensate for the 5% treble loss that these pickups have when compared with Lindy Fralins Vintage Split Blades. (Or is My Reasoning Flawed? ) Your opinion would be appreciated...

Yes, these pickups do sound good. I have had these and the bardens both are great pickups. However, I still prefer lollar over both, their pickups just sound more musical to me. For me a little bit of noise is worth it though. The noiseless take the noise out and some of the single coil sound. I don't think there is a way around it.

I have to ask how you came to buy the blues over the vintage output? I'm extremely torn. Watching and re watching videos to make up my mind, I'm driving myself crazy. I need advice from someone who owns them. I love the single coil character. I love that neck throaty sound and a bridge that's a bit more savory and on the brighter side of course, but honestly not crazy on the extreme twang. My worries have been that the blues would be so dark that you'd lose the single coil character, and the vintage would be too bright. Yes I watched your video, but still at an impass. Any help would be great. Thanks.
@DarrellBraunGuitar
@DarrellBraunGuitar 8 лет назад
If your goal is to have classic tele tone, but without all the single coil hum, then definitely go with the vintage set. I love the blues set I have, but they are a little warmer and higher output than a typical tele.
