Lindy Ruff FIRED As Head Coach Of The NJ Devils! Travis Green Will Serve As Interim Head Coach! 

The last nail in the coffin was playing Daws in the LA game. Besides Sarge, I want the rest of the coaching staff out! This shake-up was long overdue.

The timing of the termination doesn't have much to do with Fitz thinking they can win and make the playoffs. This was purely a mercy and respect move by Fitz and he should be given credit for it. Had Fitz let Ruff back into the Rock for the Panthers game and the Devils laid an early egg in that game, it would get ugly for Ruff and the team. Say what you will about Ruff, but he is a highly respected coach and Fitz is doing him a huge favor here. The shame part about it is that Fitz let it get to this point. Now Fitz needs to hold himself accountable. The likelihood of NJ amassing enough points to make the playoffs is low. Fitz should immediately turn to asset acquirement. Trading Toffoli is priority ONE. There is absolutely NO need to extend a UFA that is just OK. Fitz is stuck in a hard spot on this one because he traded Yegor and a 3rd for what was in essence a one year rental. So I think he feels almost pressured to extend him; when the right move is to flip him for a high draft pick and prospect and use same for a goalie. If by chance, Fitz extends Toffoli, that will seal Alex Holtz' fate with this team. The correct move is to trade Toffoli and promote Holtz from within. This is a much cheaper move and lets face it, Holtz' offensive numbers numbers on the 4th line are pretty damn good for playing 10 minutes a game or less. While I do like what Toffoli brings, he's really just a streaky scorer with defensive liabilities who's 32 years old and is going to get 5M+ per year for 3+ years. Holtz is a fraction of that money.

very good video, i was a fan of the sabres from 2005 to when he got fired in 2012, i was so happy for him when he got that job with the devils knowing how hard it is 2 get a job in the nhl with how great of a coach he is and as a human, i was so happy when i saw him have this great payoff run last year so realy bummed out by how things turned out in this year and 2 see him lose his job

After last season, it's a freakin shame to see Lindy go. However, it had to be. This season got away from Lindy early. Look for some new interesting line combinations. Also, look for a total firesale at the deadline. Happy trails, Lindy 👋

I was shocked that it happened but happy. I hope travis can fix the issues. I am hoping for him to be here next year . Hopefully next year mike Sullivan or criag berube will take over

Starts with Fitzy not doing anything in the offseason but i guess we give him free pass. Also per Kyper, he said that Fitz had two parties say one thing like get a goalie and the other is the analytic team being like we good. And Fitzy choose to do nothing until it was to late. Travis green had a better PP than Brunette and they also have just as many goals with out Hamilton and the lost of severson.

Lindy did a good job taking talented rookies and over a couple years turning them into NHL contenders. Unfortunately, the roster that was created for him with the trades and aquisitions since last season... plus the injuries... was an underperforming combination for the NHL. I too thought the goalies would be better than they were this year but the D is also not nearly as good. Then the shi. hit the fan and the forwards also underperformed. I still think they are playing Meier incorrectly to take advantage of his natural fortes. There were decades that NJ started by creating a solid, bone crushing defense. Fitz should be on the next rocket out of town IMO. If they bring in Torts, I will stop following the team until he's gone.

I really don’t want Markstrom. He’s not consistent and is over the hill. I like Ullmark and Fitzys relationship with Boston is much better. Sell at the deadline and use the assets acquired to trade for Ullmark. He’s younger and more proven. Shouldn’t cost that much given he’s on a 1 year deal in the offseason.

Good Video. I think that Lindy Ruff is A Scapegoat, given the fact that GM Tom Fitzgerald is the one who have made very bad moves that have really put this team in a bad situation. It is not Lindy Ruff that made the moves to get players, such as Tiffoli, Meire & Palat, that are not performing up to abilities that they had on their former teams. Let me know what you think

I like Lindy but coaches are hired to be fired and they just couldn’t go any farther with him. Have no idea what to expect from Greene but I’m open minded and will give him his fair chance. Regardless of who coaches Tom has a lot of work to do improving this team at all 3 levels.

I think this was about a month too late. I understand giving him to this point but I have a feeling that his system was really seriously not working with the young Defense. I think even if we had traded for a stronger goaltender wed still be in rough shape. I would love to see a stronger commitment to defense for NJ hockey. That was the building blocks to our success for years. This offense first mentality is not it.

Something had to be done and something should have been done months ago. More than likely too late for this season for the playoffs but hope it sparks the team to play with some life. The last two games have been painful to watch.

He clearly lost the room months ago. They’re barely in must-win games, playing with the urgency of a funeral dirge. Along with the mishandling of Holtz and the ridiculous constant line changes, this was long overdue. Not saying there aren’t several other issues to be addressed, but this was a good start. Not getting a goalie in the off-season hurt a lot too. That’s on Fitz, but who knows what’s going on behind the scenes…

Sad, but necessary. Great person, but the move had to be made and it's coming too late to make a difference this year tbh. I don't like Green past these 21 games, I'm on the Berube train.
