Hardly ever have i seen and heard a preset sound demonstration as enjoyable and inspiring as yours. Your video sells the Helix like nothing else. I have been looking into the Headrush but the sounds you created here with thr Helix make me think twice!

Holy Sh** Glenn... You did it!!!! Remember you promessed to me in a message sent to you in the Clean Amps patches, that the only custom patches missing where the high gain monsters and now I came across this video!!!! Right on!!!!!! I started questioning why I bought a helix since to me it didn't sound any different or better than my 500 HD. After downloading your high gain patches I can now appreciate the helix... best $24 bucks I've spent in a while! It's really like getting around over 30 patches since there are at least 3 to or more snapshots per patch!Thanks, Glen!

Hi Glen, just got the new patches and loading them up now. As always awesome work they sound great. I use the helix into front of house mixer and it always sounds fantastic!! spot on sims. Oh yeah I have seen you play in a while I forgot about the fastest thumb ever...Love it!!! Tones are amazing as expected. If I get one of these I will surely get these patches. Is that a standard thumbtack or is it filed down?
Finally picked up one of your patch sets. Unfortunately 1 in the morning, so going to have to wait until I really can get them tested out. Planning on running them through 2 StageSource FRFR speakers. Just one question (so far) - for this video, are you only using snapshots to go between rhythms and leads, or are you engaging anything else?
Thanks Glenn - I had a really good high gain tone using a mark IV patch I built (trying to get it close to my JP-2C) --- so I'm tearing down yours a bit and learning from them - so far they sound great - I wasn't expecting all the line 6 original amps in there. Thanks!
The Diezel H4 song is a cool song. I wanted to look up who's it is, and it's yours! Congrats! how much of the quality of these patches is the guitar and the pickups you're using? Is that irrelevant, since they're modelled patches?
These sound amazing!! I'm looking at getting the new Helix LT. Are your patches pretty even when it comes to volume balancing? I've used the 4 cable method before with other modelers years ago and always fought volume balancing and headroom issues when using amp sims. I would assume the new modelers like the AX8 and Helix have this figured out. I gig with a Budda Superdrive II 30w 2x12 open back combo. Do you high-gain patches help tighten up open back combos & cabs? Thanks!
Hey Glenn! Do these patches all use snapshots? I saw your single video of the JVM205 Patch and it had a glorious Clean tone in Snap 1. So: Does the rest have snaps, too?
Hi Simon, Yes these do you Snapshots. The way they're designed is to use 4 snapshots on the bottom row and then on the top row you have different FX On or Off.

What's crazy to me is there are some patches that sound amazing then there are the ones are the "fizzy beehive" ones that are the reason digital distortions are hated so much.
Love all your videos glenn. You make these multi effects sound really good. I have a question, I'm trying to upgrade my boss gt100. Between the boss gt1000, the headrush pedalboard and the helix, Which one would you recommend? I play mostly metal.
I'm in the same boat, I'm on the waiting list for the fractal FM3 but the helix is very much in the mix to get. I play mostly hard rock, metal and fusion so authentic high gain is must for me. The helix from your list of modellers has the most varied high gain amp models. The GT and Headrush have the usual typical high gain amp models like rectos etc, but the helix has Friedmans, Revv, PRS Archon as well as the oldies like PV5150, Rectos. That would be my choice.
Great tones, Glenn! Do you use your Helix in a live context too? If so, what do you use for onstage monitoring and how well do your patches work at stage volume? Do you need to do any EQ tweaking from venue to venue?
Thank you Craig. Yes I use my Helix live. I run stereo direct to FOH and I go 1/4in. out to an onstage Firehawk 1500. It sounds incredible through that thing and gig volume!!

Glenn, can you recommend a good speaker to use with the Line 6 Helix? I have a good pair of monitors for home use but need something for onstage. I really don't need the 1500 watts from the FireHawk. I would be willing to pay somewhere around $600 USD.
Hi Glenn, I've downloaded these. They sound great. I will use them direct to FOH. I've noticed that for Snapshot 4 Lead sounds you boosted the highs from 2kHz until 16 kHz really a lot. That sounds very harsh to me in our rehearsal room. Do you use these sounds with these settings live on stage? thx Simon.
Glenn are you running thru that JCM 900 you talk about in the beginning of this vid or are you running into a mixer? I use my Helix straight thru the front of house and want to know if these will sound the same that way.
Hi Jeff, Yes at the start of the video I am running a line out of the Helix unto the FX return of that Marshall. So these work going XLR Direct to FOH but if you want some onstage sound coming form the backline you can use either an FRFR speaker or a Tube Head that has an FX Return and a traditional 4x12 cab. That's how I do most of my shows. My FRFR of choice is a Line 6 FireHawk 1500. For arena shows I'll pull out the big guns. Besides those Marshall's look so cool on stage. ;-)

Hey Glenn, so in this video, you're running these patches into a Marshall and a real 4x12 cab, correct? I'm running my Charvel San Dimas into my Helix, into a Friedman ASM-12, and these patches don't sound anywhere near as good as they do in this video. Can't figure out what I'm missing. Just upgraded the Helix to 2.20, but I've got all the IR's in the right slots too. Any suggestions?
Hi Chris, Thank you very much. For the song clips I'm not running into the marshall, those were all recorded direct but I've tried them all with my Firehawk 1500 and my marshalls and they sound very good. Not sure about the freidman but what you could try is using the Lo or Hi cut in the cab blocks of the patches to get more of a focused sound.
No I don't need to do that on my gear but that ASM-12 might need some tweaking. Several people told me that they great through the ASM's though. Also you have the Global EQ but i would stay away from that and just use the Lo and Hi Cut in the cab blocks if needed. Leave the IR's alone though. Don't tweak those.
