The RCF has a lot of headroom so if you do have to crank them up, they sound great louder & they don’t distort. The frequency response doesn’t change like the others. They all sound great & yes, it’s about what your budget is. Thank you guys.

Great video! I’ve had the Bose Model 2’s, Evolve 50’s and just got the RCF Evox 12. My opinion is the RCF’s are the best. The Evox are a lot louder and have more bass! I highly recommend them! They are great for DJ’s who do a lot of weddings, corporate events, etc.

Wow, this is probably the best shoot out of arrays on RU-vid that I’ve seen… Thanks so much for making this happen… you guys taught me that power doesn’t necessarily equate to quality The EV was moving me the most (even listening through my phone)… it made me wanna dance… Plus it is very portable. Great job, but the L1 is not meant to be run without a T1. I have owned both EV and BOSE, returned the EV. Without the T1, and using the DJ preset, the BOSE sounds way too midrange and lacks highs and lows. Honestly, I don't like it at all without the T1. With the T1, it sounds like a totally different system--highs sparkle and bass sounds way punchier and louder. Just for fun, you should get a T1 and hooked it up to the Bose. I am not suggesting you do another comparison b/c I know it's so much work, and we all appreciate you doing this review, but you will see all the difference and realize, it's hands down the best system. I really wish the EVs were better, b/c it so much faster to set up and takes up way less space in the vehicle. Also, the highs are not broken, but without the T1, the mids are so overpowering, the highs seem weak, as well as the low end.

As an RCF Evox 12 owner, I have to set the volume on the box to 2 or 3 o'clock to wake them up and they sound phenomenal & love the portability. I also own other EVs (EKXs) and really like the sound of the Evolves. The TS is a nice sounding box at the price point. Sorry but the Bose can't keep up with the others. Nice job fellas! Enjoyed it!!

I’ve got a pair of Turbosound ip3000 and got an opportunity to pick up 1 mint evolve 50 and have to say doing my own side by side that for the weight to sound ratio, the EV is amazing. It does have great bass considering it only has the one sub as opposed to the two in the Turbosound. The vocals and highs are also top notch on the EV. I’m glad it’s part of my arsenal now. Had I heard the EV 50 before I purchased the Turbosound I think I would have purchased a pair of EVs and if needed I could have used my QSC cardioid or my 18” JBL Prx xlf718 for extra lows.

Noel, just saw your video today 10/26/21. I purchased the new EV Evolve 50M earlier this month. Your comparison test was awesome, especially since you put them at the same db levels and no equalization. Completing the test with actual DJ settings showed they all are great speakers. I use my 50Ms primarily DJing, but also for my band. Your comparison test showed I didn't make a bad choice. Muchas gracias hermano! Be easier on my Dominican brother :) .

I know this is a older video but RCFs official position is that the knob should be at 3 or 5 oclock position - RCF does not consider 12oclock as UNITY as other brands do. I personally own the evox 8s and was very disappointed until I learned the above ---now I am consistently blown away at how well they sound.

Evox 12 sounds balanced and tight. Turbosound clear mid hi. EV gasping for breath just to reach 80 db. Bose, as always lacks midhi to reach 80 db. Wait until you hear the DB Technologies ES 1203 guys!

Es1203 cost a lot more and weigh a tonne...plus the set up time of the es1203 is a lot longer than the ev or rcf but the es1203 does have more power than the evox....not by much though, I've owned them all in the past and I have to agree with the demo guys the Evs offer the best overall features, power, weight and set up for me
@rollywagas-bisayaartist4412
@rollywagas-bisayaartist4412 6 лет назад
You are right, ES1203 cost more and weighs more (double 12 sub) because it is a beast. It has 1,200 watts RMS (2,400 watts max/peak) and 132 db max spl, while Evolve is only 1,000 watts max/peak and 127 db max spl. The focus of my observation is of the power when they are testing these units to reach 80 db at where they stand. For weight and set up, I will also go for EV, but for power, I will go for ES1203. For sound quality, its a matter of taste. By the way, I also own these speakers, except the EV.

Bill Ducas how are you finding the EV Evolve 50’s for live band gigs? Is it rock? Do you mic the entire band?
@billducas
@billducas 4 года назад
@@valbeccia8591I play in a several classic rock bands. We mic everything and use a Yahama MG16XU mixer. The bass runs direct, the drums are mic'd sometimes with one mic and at times up to 4, depending on the venue. My guitar used to be mic'd, but now I'm running direct through the line-out of my Boss Katana amp. The EV's handle outside gigs just fine. No need for monitors either, as the sound fold back. The drummers do wear in-ear monitors since they sit a little too far back to hear the mains. Highly recommend the EV's. Don't let the wattage and the 3 1/2 inch speakers fool you. They are unbelievable. I've been gigging since I was 16, and I just turned 60, and this is definitely one if the clearest PA's I've ever played through. And portability is unbelievable. And we are a little on the loud side. If if you play anything bigger than what you need the EV's for, the PA is usually provided. They will easily cover 98% of any gig you can throw at it.

The highs on the Bose aren't broken. That's how they are suppose to sound. They only extend up to 12KHz +/-3 dB (14KHz -10db). If the highs were blown you wouldn't hear much above 200Hz (the crossover point of the sub). Also I believe the Bose L1 II is 500w RMS (250+250). The 2000W rating of the IP3000 is peak, not RMS. RMS would be about half that.

Seems to me any of these systems would be great for indoor wedding receptions where the sound can accumulate to build SPL “volume” ...but outdoor field receptions, it seams the sound would just drift away in thin air about 20ft from the unit because of the small column speakers only being 2.5” drivers. High end 15’s on a stand [above everyone’s head] with a matching 18” sub will throw more sound across a 100ft square of land any day. Which sucks. Because I hate the look of speaker stands and these array systems look Aesthetically pleasing and sophisticated.

Being a sister company of RCF it actually sounds better and is the most flexible & scalable being triamped. A pair of db Technologies ES1203’s would outclass every system here in throw, volume and sound quality. And it comes with a complete set of covers. The EV’s are the best atm for a slightly smaller and more portable system. They just need to be eq’d a lil to improve the low mids and soften the high mid/highs.

The other two were kind of a mixed bag although the RCF had pretty good bass. No mention of speaker dispersion. Bose covers 180 deg and will fill a room! Also the primary use for an L1 Bose is for an individual musician.

Great video...I currently own a pair of EV evolve 50’s and I absolutely love them. I’ve been using them for about 3 months now. I have a couple events coming up in the fall that will be in larger rooms with more people than I have experienced so far. I’m considering either getting another pair of EV’s and run two up front and two as side fills or getting the RCF Evox 12 and using them by themselves. I can get a deal on a pair of EV,s for the price of one RCF. What do you think.Can 4 EV Evolve 50’s fill a large room with 200 people as well as 1 pair of Evox 12’s?

SO guys I am curious 6 months have passed. Is there anything better that's come along since? I'm ready to buy but all these choices have me paralyzed by analysis AND womdering who is going to come out with the "line array killer"...??? I'll be over 3k in and now outdated.

There’s always a product that comes out as soon as you buy something. If you don’t need it now and can wait then do just that, until you are 100% satisfied. On the other hand if you don’t own the EV Evolve 50 then you should definitely invest in a pair. It’s been a great investment for me and continues to deliver.

Awesome job fellas! I’ve been struggling with which one to get for a while now. I don’t know why I got in my head, “bigger is better” with the IP’s but I keep hearing the EV’s are the way to go. Actually still struggling with it but trust this video. Well done.

Hey for the Turbosound fans, I just posted a solution to the crappy bag that Turbosound sells for the ip3000 columns. A hardcase that accommodates both pieces, is vastly superior when it comes to protection of our investment and costs about $80, just a little bit more than the flimsy bag. Check it out when u can.

So here is my Question , because I am stuck between these two speakers . The Evolve 50 and the Rcf exox 12 For a Outdoor Ceremony which speaker would be better . The evolve 50 has the portability but the Evox 12 you can really extend the height . Help me decide on which would be better for this application .. Please

Very good video I enjoyed it, but this is my point of view and you have not taken into account the most important the QUALITY of the product!? RCF : Italy Ev : China Bose : China Turbo Sound : China RCF is more for live bands and the best of this group, RCF EVOX 12 DESTROY ALL OF THEM except the DB Technologies ES 1203 does have more power than the evox 12. so next week i will try to see who gives more db with a live band to see what i buy if RCF or DB Technologies !!!!!!!!!!!??????????

Once you got 150 people in front of those the RCF will just sound better, throw better & headroom better. RCF no gimmicks just better sound.

They all have great sound however, customer service should play an important point should you have a problem. Unfortunately, Turbo Sounds customer service is non-existent. I had problems tracking down their main office location here in the US until I spoke with a rep on the phone. I tried to find a representative several times to ask about their line of speakers. Turbo Sounds has limited distribution in the US at that time when I was looking for speakers. They are very hard speakers to find around town here in NY area to listen to and get an opinion on the sound quality. When I did hear them I wasn't overly impressed they seemed flat on the high ends. Finally if you have to chase someone to find out information about a product line to me that's poor service. Sometimes price shouldn't be overlooked with the overall quality of the customer experience should that need arise. If you have to communicate via email that say's it all about the manufacturer. I prefer a phone number to call. At the end of the day it might cost you more money time and frustration.

Which system would you recommend for a permanent install? I'm looking at 2x ip3000s. The weight isn't an issue as they won't be moved and I like the lower profile of the subs, so I'm leaning toward them at this point. The price is also kinder here in Australia.

They would be great for permanent installs assuming the amount of speakers you will be using can fill the size of your venue.

If the sound quality and power are even remotely close, I go with the RCF's because they have a crucial element no other system here has - height. Having the best sound quality means nothing if only the 20 people closest to the system can hear it. These things need to be able to play for at least 200 people dancing if not more, and regardless of how "good" they are, there's no way the sound can travel well enough through all the dancers without raising the speaker above their heads which only the RCF's provide here. The EV's seem especially problematic in that regard - very low height. About to purchase a pair of column arrays in a few days, leaning towards the ES-1203 which does have adjustable height like the RCF's but apparently more power. But thank you for the video and the effort I'm sure it took in setting this all up !
@djclassy7908
@djclassy7908 4 года назад
dedi - looks like the db’s only have about half the drivers in the tops vs. the turboSounds and EV 50’s? Did you get a pair of the ES-1203’s?! How do you like them? Currently leaning toward a dual column array system
@d.s.6268
@d.s.6268 4 года назад
@@djclassy7908 The EV's were never an option for me because their height isn't adjustable. That has to be a non starter for any DJ or anyone who knows anything about sound, unless you have money to waste because you pay for X amount of sound, but half of that sound gets blocked by the 10 people closest to the speakers... I also understand that although they have a beautiful sound they're just not as powerful as the DB's. As for the RCF's - those were the only ones I considered with the DB's, but youtube comparisons convinced me that their sound doesn't travel as well as the DB's when it comes to base and the most important consideration for me was being able to use my speakers for the most amount of people and biggest area without having to add speakers, so that made me choose the DB's. I am currently very happy with them - especially in terms of power and throw. I think I could do a little better job in fine tuning the sound through the DSP, but It's already pretty good. Bottom line - if I was doing mainly background music events where I could be nit picky about high end sound - I might have considered the other two systems and maybe even chose one of them, but if your biggest worry - like mine - is not needing to add more speakers in as many events as possible - I think the DB's is the right call.
@djclassy7908
@djclassy7908 4 года назад
dedi nice speaker choice! How many tops did you get to stack on one another, or are you just using the single top array speaker cluster? Looks like you can stack the individual array clusters all the way down to the sub.
@d.s.6268
@d.s.6268 4 года назад
@@djclassy7908 with each bass unit you get two top units with 4 speakers in each. You can't stack them down to the bass height - if you see something that looks like that it means the bottom "top like" speaker is a fake one that's just there to replace the pole and look better (in some people's eyes I guess) and costs a little extra to get. That said, the pole you get with the system is really two polls that can connect to each other so you can have a lower height array by using just one of the poles - which btw I do quite often because the two combined poles along with the two top parts stacked one on top of the other get really really tall - often too tall for the room, but having the flexibility is really great for when you'll need it - say a big outdoor event... Fwiw - I don't think any speakers that would lay right on top of the bass with no extra height are worth much in terms of adding volume to a dance floor because they just get blocked by the 10 people closest to the speakers. It's all about the bass (pun intended) and being able to lift the tops above people's heads which this system allows very very well.

I decided to go the Evolve 50’s and eventhough I gave up DJ’ing many moons ago I’ll be using them as a band PA. Like you say you’re back is glad thanks to the EV’s. The additional sub/s I intend on using would essentially do the sub lows and effectively allow the Evolves to operate as a band passed system high passed from 80-100hz. That’s the plan anyway. Thanks again to you and the crew for your efforts.
