You should try coupling the subs and put the tops on tripods. You may need longer wires. It’s not ideal but it could help the low end. I haven’t seen anyone on RU-vid do this so it could be cool to try.
Great Review. Covers almost every possible question. But I have one on top. How resistant against rain or water is this PA System? Does RCF make any statement concerning that topic? Definitely do not want to go swimming with it, but how about a Poolparty where it's quite neraby to some water drops etc? Greetings
It’s not IP rated for outdoor use so there is no statement. Off the record I would say that it could handle mist and or a little drizzle here and there but I would not leave it in the rain for more than a few minutes if you can help it. Eventually water will kill it. Any other questions just let us know thank you so much for your interest.
Ty for your comment. Just to be clear - you certainly CAN turn that sensitivity knob up, and in most cases it is. That said you don’t NEED to unless the room your in calls for it. The short answer to why? There is no harm to where you position this knob, whether it's at 9, 12, 3, or all the way up o'clock. The long and true answer: There is no "unity" position. Not 12 o'clock. not 3 o'clock. Not in its max position. Because RCF speakers are NOT mixers where the 0 dB of the meter matches a corresponding output level in Volts (dBu), which is different model by model, brand by brand. The volume control on the back of RCF enclosures, is actually an Input Sensitivity Potentiometer. When your mixer's gain stage is set properly with your audio material, the meters are between 0 and + 6/10 dB. At that point, adjust the speakers volume to reach you target SPL. The volume control does not reduce the SPL capability of the speaker, but it serves exclusively to adapt the input sensitivity of the speaker itself, and to the devices that are connected upstream. For example, if you connect the direct output of a telephone jack into to an ART, to reach a certain level of SPL, you will have to set the rear volume knob to maximum in most cases. While to reach the same level with a professional mixer, the volume position will be lower. Hope this helps. :-)
Anyone knows if you can connect the EVOX 12 column to a dedicated amplifier? 400watts RMS or even more? than the 200 watts RMS of the EVOX dedicated amplifier ?
Is the bass sufficient for weddings? And high school dances for club music? Club sound and portability are hard to pair up, but will it deliver great bass output with its clarity of mids and highs which appear to be pristine and clear. How would the 15's do with EDM, Electro house or hip hop?
We literally used them on a house music party 2 times recently with a well known area DJ that was doing private events do to club shutdowns. 5 hour sets both times and there was never a time that we felt it wasn't loud enough or it didn't have the low end. These were both outdoors but we have also used them inside as well and the bass is sufficient - The entire point of this system is that it's BALANCED. In situations where you need more sound in larger rooms, you can always bring in another column array (EVOX12) or reinforce with SUB series and HD (We have extra SUB-705 and HD-10AMK4 for when we need).
I have had the chance to hear 2 of these (left and right) RCF Evox 12 speaker sets by themselves at a school dance. I have also heard them paired with a QSC kw181 subwoofer at another dance at the same school. The dj that the school used was originally bringing two QSC k10s and 2 QSC kw181s. The two evox 12s by themselves were a serious downgrade in terms of bass, so much that the DJ brought one of his old QSC subs the second time he brought the Evox 12 system. The Evox tops, however, did sound far better than the QSC k10 speakers.

I have been recommending and selling this product for 4-5 years or so and have never once had a person unhappy. I only did this video when I left the corporate world and started my own company at djeventgear.com - Because I love the brand so much have used it since 2004 it had to be one of my first videos.
Nice review and I've made up my mind to buy a set. One quick question how heavy are the subs? The wheels and pull handle are good but won't work on stairs!
I was looking to go buy the RCF however after speaking to a repair man he told me they were great when they were made in Italy now they’re making them in China like most other speakers are too and he’s getting so many in for repairs now. It’s a shame so many good speaker companies Have chose to go the cheaper route with China and the quality is no longer there
Comments like this are why we started this company. Your repair man is incorrect, Evox12 has always been made and assembled in Italy - just like every other of their wooden speakers and speaker systems. RCF has some products assembled in China - very few and they’re basically the ones w plastic and plastic molds. The end.
@@TheDJsGuru I’m glad to hear that. Is the J8 and J8 mix still completely made in Italy? I’m looking for these for mobility and they sound great. And thank you for your response
We appreciate the feedback thanks. This was direct XLR out of a Denon DJ Prime4 unit into the ins on the Evox12. If you’re looking for a great deal contact us at thedjsguru.com/contact
Hi, enjoy your reviews. Found total weight of the EVOX 12 but nothing that breaks down the weight of the sub unit and the top array weight wise. Do you know how much the top array weighs? For hauling around, the total weight of the 12 is something of a turn off for me. In regards to your RCF J8mix review and this EVOX 12, how much better really is the EVOX 12 for a small music act for largely smaller audiences, strictly sound quality wise? We talking night and day better sound quality? 10% better? 20% better? Based on your experience and view. Thanks for any insight.
@@daled.m.4512 I would not, everyone I have ever asked that has owned them would though. I have no personal experience and for transparency purposes we sell RCF but not DB.
Hi. Really good video. Do you know if you're supposed to use line or mic with the input sensitivity switch if you're using the system for a band? Thank you. 👍🍀
Ty. That depends on what the input is, what are you plugging in? I’ll make this easier you’re only going to want to use the mic when using an actual microphone vocalist every other situation should really be a line input. The mic input will generally give you a plus DB on the high and mid range frequency which you don’t want when plugging in say a DJ mixer or something like that
I'm using it for a 4 piece band, a couple of acoustic guitars, bass, drums, vocals. Obviously using a mixer. Thank you for messaging back, really appreciate that. You've answered a query that I've been struggling to find an answer for. So its line! Great. You wouldn't happen to also know if I should turn the volume on the speaker all the way up and then balance the volume output from my desk would you? Thanks again. 👍👍🍀
Does the 1/4 inch headphone jack socket on the back allow you to plug in the likes of an ipod or phone and play through the system from that? Would be good for back up purposes if it does
Never used or heard DB but I can say this. I have heard a lot of people complain about DB technology failure. I never hear anything negative about RCF have you?
I have pro 32 sub 2… at times I feel lacking the bass thump. Over all pro 32 is powerful and amazing.. 2 speakers are good for 500 people, sometimes I use only one speaker. I was thinking of switching to Rcf evox 12. Is it a good decision, big investment.
@@sazprodj We are thinking about how bad of an investment it is to have sound that doesn’t do what you need it to do. A sound system is the infrastructure of your business if you are running events, it will allow you to do and not do things so investing in the right sound system that allows you to scale only makes sense as a business decision. How long did you have your previous system? Personally we still have speakers going back over a decade that we still put into use and make us money. We try not to think of any of this stuff as a cost but a revenue generating expense.
@@TheDJsGuru Great words .. i have Bose l1 m2 for 15 years still sounds like new. The new Bose pro 32 sub 2 more powerful had for less than a year. Bose is great but I see Djs are going after the RCF evox. I was thinking of making the transition entirely to RCF. They don’t have demos at the guitar center for sound check. Some events of over 300 people or depending on the hall size I can add two small Rcf’s 800 watts. In the end it’s the dance floor that needs solid impact and bass.

Great video, thank you for posting! I've had 'em all over the last 26 years DJ'ing. My favorite all purpose indoor/outdoor speaker (when not running a sub) to date is my RCF Art Series 745-A MK4's. If I need more, I just add one of my RCF subs, or one of my KW-118's to the set up. Love 'em!!! Though, I've been considering putting the RCF Evox 12's in my inventory for a few years now. Now that you've been gigging for them for a few months, do you have any other opinions to provide? I'd be using them mainly indoors, as I prefer to put my speakers up on stands with lots of these outdoor beach weddings here in the Florida Keys. Any feedback you have is much appreciated. Cheers! DJ GUNZ, Florida Keys
Matt, you got that setup right there man. oooooh those 745s and a good 18" if RCF or QSC that old Evox 12 will never touch it. get yurself a Evox 12 and your going backwards man. if you want a column get the Evolve 50 in your inventory its happening
Hello, I'm currently using JBL SRX 818sp powered subs and JBL SRX 812 p tops, my question is, how would the RCF Evox 12's compare to my JBL SRX speakers, I know it's a diffrent class of speaker, my concern is if the RCF Evox 12's are close to my current sound system, please note that i would be replacing 4 single 18 subs and 4 12' tops and would purchase 4 RFC Evox 12's. Reason for this is I'm tired of hauling heavy cabinets and when you gig all by yourself, there is where my problem is, .Please give me your take. Thanks
My daughter has recorded songs and is trying to do live performances, covid has put a damper on things, so she's thinking about street performance for now.
Because you can’t do that in a vacuum. In order for anyone to say what a system is capable of doing people wise. That said system would need to be inside the room and a person we need to be listening while those number of people are in there to say whether it sounded good enough. And then, all rooms are different :-) - I hope that makes sense and gives you a better understanding that there is no one-size-fits-all system, and when you’re running sound, it is appropriate to have multiple items available to you so that you can always have enough Sound for whatever room you’re in.
New listener and appreciate the analysis. It would be great to hear your review of a very high end system like the Meyer Sound Ultra X40 top and 750 sub. It is a pricey system out of the reach of most but the sound is absolutely amazing.
@@TheDJsGuru I bought two evolve 50 for $2,500 instead of one EVOX 12. That's what I was asking if two EV 50's are better than one EVOX 12. Also, would you buy 4 EV 50's over a pair of EVOX 12's?
Yes, we like it but what you gain in a little bit of extra sound you kind of lose in the whole portability size thing because it’s tremendously big and heavy Which is a bit of a negative to us. If the portable isn’t that important to u and you’re just looking for an array with massive sound Check out the 44
Not sure this guy knows what he's talking about. I've used nothing RCF gear for the past 15 years. The Evox 12 is a great system but the sub goes down to 40 Hz at best, and that's probably at a +/- 10 db rating. Probably closer to 45 - 50 Hz at +/- 3 db. He says the sub goes down to about 20,000 Hz which would make it a useless sub. If he means 20Hz, he's nowhere in the neighborhood of reality. The RCF Sub 9007-AS dual 21" sub cabinet doesn't even go down 20Hz.
Thanks for your comment - to keep things transparent here is the spec from the RCF website. If we said it wrong shame on us as these are not scripted. Thanks for catching that and thanks for watching. FREQUENCY RESPONSE: 40 Hz ÷ 20000 Hz
@@TheDJsGuru The 40 Hz - 20k Hz is from lows to highs. The sub hits 40Hz, not 20,000Hz. The video states the sub goes goes down to 20,000Hz. Otherwise a nice video/review.
@@johngembka7052 yes we got it mixed up recalling during the shoot as stated earlier. Thanks again for pointing it out, it’s important that we have the right info and we always appreciate feedback!
