When you need to add aftermarket amplifiers to a car audio system you need a way to convert the factor "high level" signal to "low level" for rca connection you the new amplifier. This can be done with a "line output converter" (LOC for short) or a "digital signal processor" (dsp for short). What is the difference between these devices? What is best for you? Let's discuss!

Audio control and all of their difrent products are not exactly the most cost friendly items. BUT they are in my opinion some of the best out there!! Absolutely love their stuff. It looks awesome simple clean and compact and sounds amazing. Just the 2 channel loc you would not think would make that much of a diffrence but they do! FYI....I have used the LC2i in both my 2018 Kia Forte and 2020 Kia Soul. Signal Sense doesn't work as there is always a signal/current in the speaker wires for some reason and the amps nor the LOC will turn off. This is no fault of Audiocontrol, but just want it known that Signal Sense isn't always an option depending on your vehicle I'm sure. Btw, the LC2i works great otherwise.

Neither just get you a high end Alpine with built in everything and a DSP and call it a day that’s what I did and I love it 3 way active is where it’s at. I’m loud yet still sound amazing at half volume, benefits of huge power being used sparingly everything is run easy so no distortion. I’m running focal KRX2 61/2’s the last generation not the newest ones off a DC audio 175.4@2 ohm so 250watts a channel or more lol 😂. Been going strong for 3 year but I do got the gain on channels 1-2 for the tweets turned to zero but it’s still loud. Now the mids are taking the whole 250 watts and loving it, amazing woofer. They are keeping up with 2 DC LVL4 12’s in a custom box from cherry man customs.

Imo 90%+ aren’t going to need (or spend $ for) dsp. Don’t go for dsp unless you want the best sound quality, and are going to buy the rest of the best quality components to be able to appreciate it. Most people just add a sub, go for a loc. Most of the people that add amps and replace factory speakers are probably going to be happy with the lc7i. They’re not buying that expensive of components and just want the volume of the mids and highs to keep up with the bass. Then there are the last few people. They either have more money than brains, or are true audiophiles that want (and can hear the difference of) the best sound quality possible. Most of these top 10% unfortunately fall into the more money than brains category. I salute you true audiophiles that are actually going to appreciate your substantial investment of money, planning, and setting up. Your system must sound amazing!!!

In my last vehicle I went with a decent system with a DSP pro. Didn't care for it. The sound was IN YOUR FACE and if I may point out as it should be like your in concert. The sound was coming straight from the dash in front of me and had depth all the way to the hood of the car. Sounded great for me. NOT anyonee else sitting in the car. I'm looking for something everyone can enjoy and that may be an loc. I'll have ten speakers + sub and three amplifiers so hopefully I can find one that will handle all that. I'll go active but not in my face type.

I actually got a pioneer deq-s1000a DSP in my car. It was only 130 bucks. Granted, it is only 2 channel input, but pretty much all audio is stereo anyways, so that doesn't matter too much. It takes speaker level inputs and is able to output to 6 RCA channels (Front L+R, Rear L+R, and subwoofer L+R) It has also got a shitty amp built in to output directly to the speaker wire, in case you don't want to run an amp. It's a great little unit for the price, it allows you to do time alignment, EQ, speaker configurations and compensate for factory EQ. I actually bought it mainly for the EQ function. After I had upgraded my factory speakers and had installed small 4 channel amp, the system sounded pretty good, but it had some noticeable flat spots in the frequency range. My car's factory head unit didn't have good EQ settings (the factory head unit only gave me bass and trebble control). So adding a DSP was a great addition to get the sound to the way I like.

We have equipped your LC7i with an AutoMode feature that is designed to feed signal to the channel 3 section when the factory system only has front and rear outputs. AutoMode takes the channel 2 (rear) input signal and automatically feeds it to the channel 3 outputs to drive a subwoofer amp and crossover. This means your LC7i will accept two input channels (say, front and rear) and give you three output channels (front, rear, and sub). does a DSP do this???????

So how would you use these devices in an 07 Mustang with a Shaker 1000? There are 2 6x8's and 2 8" 1.6 ohm DVC Subs in the doors, 2 6x8's in the rear deck and 2 10" 4ohm DVC Subs in the trunk. I've chosen a selection of speakers (whether they are right or not...). How could I use these devices to improve the audio without buying replacement amps? And which device would be best? It seems the DSP installed before the AMP's as there are two is the right choice.

So I need your opinion I have a CLS and i blew out my stock Mids and highs I have my factory head unit. The guy who owned the car before me had 3 amps I guess 1 for highs 1 for Mids and a mono for the sub. It was installed by al&eds in California. I have 1 12” l7 kicker with a Orion 1500.1 amp. Should I just get 1 more amp and not 2 for the Mids and highs ? I believe I have 6.5 in all 4 doors and 1 tweeter in the front doors . I know it’s called logic 7 for Benz stock speakers. I believe there is a speaker in the dash and 1 sub 6x9 in the back. I lesson to rap and heavy metal mostly. What do I need out of the 3 you are showing in this video? Thank you for your knowledge and videos.

Hello, i find your channel very informative! Helps out a lot! But i also have a question: I want to use an LOC for my bmw e90 with basic audio...and create a bit more bass But this is what confuses me...i should tap in to the wire from stock woofers for signal to the LOC right? Then it goes with rca to the amp and from there to the added woofer in the trunk But do i still need to power the factory woofers? Of can i unplug them? because the added woofers in the trunk are far better Hopefully anyone here can helo me😁 And from there

What about a dac what's your take on it . For some of us we have 5 to 10 k in our sound systems in our cars should we instal a dac to the mi so we can better take advantage of tidal

What would be the best option to add a sub and amp to a 2024 Mustang EB 9 speaker system with a factory amp? I have amp, sub, box, and amp kit from previous vehicle

I added a Under Seat Amp to my Goldwing GL1800 and it doesn't sound as good as it should/could. When you increase the volume the Bass decreases so you don't really get any Bass out of the sub. Is this a situation where a DSP would benefit me better than a Line Output? I don't want/expect the sub to hammer but it almost sounds like the factory speakers on caffeine instead of a double shot of Expresso.

in a pinch here, i have a 14 ram keeping factory head unit, the system has 6 speakers non premium, the two fronts are chained together, there is no factory sub or amp, my question is if i want to drive a sub channel will a DSP function like the lc7i and create a sub output if there is no sub in put from the speaker level.

Question. I have been looking at Alpine's PXE-0850X DSP. I can't seem to find anything about bass roll off correction in their Manual. Does this Mean I need to have one of Audio Controls LOC's hooked up first? Also, I ready somewhere that you tune DSP's at a certain volume. Does that mean that you can't use the Volume control on the head unit anymore and have to get another volume control knob?

Great video. Sir, I have 2 questions 1. What is difference in output of active and passive LoC's. 2. My car amplifier has 5 pins in high level input where centre one is for ground. What to do with that gnd marked pin? Can I just connect with power input where 12v ,rem and gnd wires are?

Difference between active and passive, active requires electricity and passive doesn't. Not sure about your other question, need more info.

@@jeffpaulene what is difference in output and sound quality of active and passive LoC's?
@jeffpaulene
@jeffpaulene 4 года назад
@@GurnamSinghchannel, all I can tell you is, a processor is the way to go. You can get a processor for about the same price as a LOC. Some amps have LOC's built in them. As to your question Active is always better than passive because it doesn't affect the signal. Passive pulls power from the signal. Thus affecting the signal, it might be just as small amount, passive weakens the signal.

If I'm adding 2 subwoofers, 2 amps and 4 smaller speakers, would a line output converter still do the trick (the whole system is nothing fancy, simply a amp for the 2 woofers and amp for 4 smaller ones, whole thing under 1,000$)

My car has seven speakers, one is a sub. I have a 5 channel amp, a LC2i, and a Nakamichi NE-8EQ 8 Band EQ. It seems more complicated, now I have to get the LC7i? Is there a solution for just a factory radio, amp, 7 speakers?
