before isometrics is final stage for department na, without providing line size in P&ID how they will give iso??or is there any other type of isometrics is there???please clarify it.Thank you
@PayosAcademy
@PayosAcademy 2 месяца назад
It's true and forth process. In feed stage line length and elevations are considered based on plot plan and based on that tentative line size is finalized based on that piping department draw actual pipe routing and again in detail engineering the line sizing is done based on feed stage isometrics and if the losses are more then give comment on p&id and isometrics accordingly piping department will update isometrics. Hope this will help you. Stay tuned with us. Enjoy learning 👍

Hi sir, very nice video, could I ask you that where the table "Line Sizing Criteria - PD and Velocity" comes from? I searched a lot but I can't find out the international standards of this criteria. Please help me, thank you.
@PayosAcademy
@PayosAcademy 10 месяцев назад
Good question Zen. It is not standard or expected to stick with the same values provided in this video they may slightly vary from company to company. Theses values are derived from good engineering practices and considering concept of erosion velocity. Hope this will help you.

Hi you didn't mention anything about Mach no, where as i think it is also an imp criteria
@PayosAcademy
@PayosAcademy 11 месяцев назад
Good question Soundarya. In this video our aim was give overview about line sizing and focus on liquid line sizing. Here the velocity is very low hense we have considered only momentum criteria i.e. rho.v2 and that is sufficient for liquid line sizing. If we go for two phase sizing or gas line sizing where velocity is comparatively high in such cases Mach number plays crucial role while sizing. We will definitely cover this concept in our upcoming videos. For knowledge purpose: The Mach number is used to assess compressibility effects in fluid flow. When the Mach number is significantly greater than 0.3, the fluid flow is considered compressible, and factors such as changes in density and speed of sound need to be accounted for. Hope we get you clearly and tried to answer it correctly. If you find any query please feel free to get back to us. We will very happy to answer such technical questions in future too. Stay tuned with us. Thank you. All the best. Enjoy learning 👍

In line sizing Do we need to consider and add pressure drop due to elevation and equipments and then look for pressure drop criteria. Or Just consider the pressure drop due to frictional loss in pipe and look for criteria.
@PayosAcademy
@PayosAcademy 8 месяцев назад
Good question Akash. In line sizing if you are only concerned with diameter of pipe then we will not consider pressure drop due to elevation but if you want determine downstream pressure after line sizing then you must consider elevation loss. Hope this will help you. Thank you.

Good question Sam. It will definitely not above momentum criteria but still we do not consider such higher velocity for Saturated steam line sizing because higher velocity leads to more pressure drop and if pressure drop increases there will be chances of two phase flow. But in case of superheated steam we can go for such higher velocity. Hope we understood your question clearly and tried to answer you correctly. If not please feel free to get back to us. Thank you.
