Stupid question, but what is the thing she's doing when she waves her hands around and looks like she's casting a spell? He does it a lot during the last section of the video before demonstrating moves.
These are very good tips Mr. Croft. I started Tekken with this game, and have now made it up to blue ranks. These tips go over some of the things that I had issues with that were preventing me from ranking up until I figured them out. My biggest one was the first tip. I was using down forward 3 so often, and I found myself using basically just 3 moves outside of combos and it made me very predictable and I couldn't get out of red ranks until I stopped relying on just a few moves.
I'm so grateful that you do these tutorials . I've been binging your videos the past few days because I'm struggling so hard to get used to tekken 8 ling. But I feel like I have found my spark again thanks to you 💖🙏🏻 now it's time to practice even more #lingnation 🎉
Hey hey Mr. Croft, thank you for all the hard work you've done to Ling Nation people! You've been big inspiration for me to pilot Xiaoyu since Tekken 7 and never tilt on opponent While I still can't chain iws2 in combos, never reached high ranks or do setups properly, but damn it feels so rewarding to actually condition opponent into wakeup option you want to get out of them: commit hippity hoppity jump over for rds4, floating with ff3/rds3 or held ws2 or go nuts with unblockable. May the Ling Nation stay strong 💪
Do you play Zafina at all or are you just in practice mode with her? I main Zafina but since hitting fujin started practicing with Xiaoyu a bit, I'm curious if you have any thoughts on the differences between the characters.
I don’t even play Ling but I still watched it, tho lowkey wanna pick her up. The problem is I’ve put a lot of hours on Raina, that I don’t want to switch.
Put urself an milestone, me for myself i played Leroy till Tekken King, after that i wanted to learn other chars so i'm prepared for the Higher Ranks. So i Chose Lili and xiao in that Case till I have them on Tekken King and then the next chars etc.
Hey Croft Joshua/triple7 here. I played in tournament online and offline and placed top 8 and also won a major. I've never had a true main and wanted a conversation on some things about ling because i am switching over to her as a main. I play all the characters in the cast except eddy, hworang, raven, Lei. I had 18 omegas in t7 and 3 destructions in t8 mostly because i travel often now. Im now picky about who i talk with because I've been playing since middle school and am now 24 but that comes with having great and bad experiences. I would appreciate your discord name so i can learn some key advanced things. Thank you.
I'm eliminator and i lost yesterday 21 games and won only 7. And as Mr.Croft says i playing absolutely wrong way from the beginning. Got a felling that I'm gonna be 1000 mathes orange player. Every player was way better than me. But I'll keep trying and this video is a great help
Awesome tips! Respectfully, I disagree with your first one. I think it is the biggest fallacy in the Tekken community. I hover around TG/TGS, and much more often than not people won't block SE. That's also true to gods of destruction. You just need to know when to use them, aka not when it's an obvious neutral moment when you're both hyper alert. And if they do block, that only opens up the mindgame for the snake's edge cancel. In fact, I keep a note of how many people I hit with snake edge cancel into her RDS snake edge (it's a gimmick, but trust me that it works), and so far I'm on 158/169 hits lol. Against GOD opponent I'm on 37/42. EDIT: also, you can get 1 more damage if you do 3+4 after S4 CH
You can probably throw out a snake edge probably once per set. More than likely near the end of matches where the opponent expects you to play a certain was and when they will least expect it
Thank you for that comment. Respectfully, this is exactly the mindset we should actively try to avoid. Being able to land a snake edge is not the point. When it comes to moves that are super minus, launch on block, our decision making should not revolve around the question whether my opp is able to block it or not. In fact, it should be about developing a strong neutral game and preventing ourselves from becoming too risky in our gameplan (e.g. too many whiffs or using too unsafe moves). Relying on snake edge is a bad habit and even if you're able to hit your opp with it, everytime you are putting yourself at risk of getting launched, and THIS is what we should focus on more. Maybe I should make a video about this topic 😁
@@Lingnation Thank you for replying! I wouldn't say I rely on snake edge, and I am aware of the risk/reward it brings to the table. I don't throw it around willy-nilly, maybe once a match. Most of the game I play neutral, but I do enjoy the extra layer it adds to the gameplay. Especialy at higher ranks, people get extra frustrated when they are hit by that move, and it adds to their mental stack. Sure, I can get launched for it, and I do on occasion, but I personally enjoy the reward (and a little bit of the risk too 😅). I'm by no means a pro, nor do I aspire to be. I'm happy with reaching TG-TGS considering this is my first Tekken 😀 and your videos helped a ton to get there!
Oh great advices, i would give exactly the same advices if some1 ask me... You are great! I learned all the follow ups thanks to you and im not used to punish with throws but the poking game of xiao its what i love of her, i love to kill ppl without even worring with combos and, suddenly, u see the chance to launch them and they dont even expect it, so many ppl duck to low parry my RDS d3, but i still have RDS 4 😈
Just hit red ranks with her, I knew about all these tips but I feel like I struggle with the opponent's moveset more than I do with her's. Also possible to give tips on defending while being against the wall? Your videos are very welcome, thank you
This is great I was just checking out your guide you put out a couple months ago idk if the patches changed anything glad I see this video. Xiaoyu is a hard character to learn 🤧
Playing Xiaoyu straight forward is probably the most effective way to play. Messing around with too much movement is unsafe. I don't understand why Namco gave her all these transitions with bad frame or situations where you are airborne that allows you to get floated. Movement only works efficiently when your opponent is scared to attack and allows you to run your offense. If your opponent doesn't respect your movement or your offense, it's easy to get punished for too much movement.
Anything except keyboard… most keyboards have built in prevention of pressing certain keys at once, it’s kind of a nightmare for a game where you need a lot of multiple inputs at once
Love vids like this, helped me hit purple rank and now it’s time for blue. I’m gonna try to work on adding this to my gameplay n not rely on Df3/DF4 , thanks again 🐐
