I bought 5 of them. I sold 2 and kept 3 for front stage. That is a premier highly tasteful brand. They made an Integrated called the Majik 1 which was the best gateway to high end audio. The wood ones are real wood veneer and take Old English for a great cherry wood shine. I don't recall the Tukan being available in white cool you got those, think its rare. As for sound they are really clear and they eat up watts like crazy but reward with a really big for their size soundstage. Fleetwood Mac and Eagles sound great. The tweeter in the Tukan $799 where the same as in their $9,000 Isobariks. The magnet on the woofer is almost 5" as well. As for the sock every body looses them and never use them. I played a bass sweep and in my room and my ears, I could hear to high 40's hz. I run mine with a 120w Onkyo and a Velodyne VA1012 sub. Use a Sub and you can fill a concert hall. FYI all their models off all gear used to have a K in the name. Sondek, Majik, Tukan, Kan, Isobarik, keilidh and numerik. Are they sold already? man I wish I could get that level of Craigs list here.
Thank you very much for the reply and all the information! It’s great when owners chime in as I only have a week or so with the gear, before I need to sell it and move on to the next, so owners know way more details than I can learn. I hadn’t seen these great speakers in white either but it definitely appears to be a factory paint job. These speakers are just great sounding and since you have a nice sub and you are giving them good power, I bet they sound great. Especially if you get a good deal on them. Thank you again for all the info, I truly appreciate it!
Moving up in the world! 1.5k+ Subscribers, and reviewing Linn speakers. I've had co-workers how swear by all things Linn, usually starting with a turntable, but then getting into the rest of the system. I didn't know they had bookshelf speakers! From your review it doesn't sound like they quite live up to the hype - which is great to hear.
Linn makes great products but the price seems a bit high. Not saying Linn isn’t worth the price, just that there are tons of other options out there. I wish you were close, I’d let you take these Linn speakers home to try them out. That is the real way to speakers, after all:) Thanks again, my friend!
I have 2 pairs of Linn Kan MK1 for $400 and I don’t regret it. Fantastic midrange and detailed highs. Same woofer and cabinets as one of the Chartwell LS3/5A. Linn makes great gear.
I have always been intrigued by Linn products but they are usually out of my price range. I was definitely impressed with my time with these speakers. The midrange is definitely wonderful. Thank you for stopping by. I hope you get many more years of enjoyment out of those Linn speakers, my friend!
These Linn Tukan's really demonstrate how much better speakers have gotten over the years because I own a pair of Audioengine A5's that also have a 5" woofer but my speakers go down to 50hz which is significantly deeper than 70hz. I would love to compare my Audioengine's to these Linn's and they're only $400/pair new
Got into buying/fixing/reselling speakers last year. Had some killer deals so far and sometimes nearly got absolute crazy killer deals. Anyways, will pick up a pair of linn tukans with stands for about 100 dollars. One dust cap is slightly broken and there is no front covers. But still excited and gonna fix them up nicely
If I had more talent, with repairing and repainting, I’d like to get into that also! It’s always a shame to see nice home audio gear that has been damaged, knowing that it will likely end up in a landfill. Nice hearing there’s folks out there like you, giving these items a second chance. Keep up the good fight, my man!
@@blazermdx Yeah, i am trying what I can. Changed diaphragms, foam surrounds, put some contact spray. Still have to dive into electronics, but gotta start somewhere
i was recently given a pair of these speakers im not very tech savy i just took them for my shop how do you wire these to a stereo reciver? wtih the jumpers you have on yours then banana plugs out to reciever? thank Mark
So sorry for the delay! If you’re only powering them with a stereo amp, keep the jumpers in place and attach the cables accordingly. You don’t even need banana plugs, they are only handy if you swap equipment out regularly.
Holy smokes, that’s a killer deal on those speakers. I briefly owned the MA Silver 1 speakers a while back in Gloss black and I really liked them. Thanks for sharing your good fortune, that’s how this concept will grow:)
I take that as a yes lol. They are black buy not glossy like a wood veneer I beliieve? They do sound really good only being driven by my older pioneer vsx-1020.
I got 2 infinity subs that are rare I got one for 2$ at a thrift store they said it didn’t work but they must of not turned it on it works great and I got a 8 inch infinity sub also rare for free I found at my dads friends house that passed away Edit: now I’m getting a Veiodyne DLS-4000R series for $100 not sure if it’s worth it but am excited to get it
Sounds like we are cut from the same cloth. I just love getting good deals on home audio equipment. $2 for a working Infinity sub is about as good as you can do but free definitely beats it! I picked up 5 Anthony Gallo Nucleus speakers with 4 matching stands for $100, just now. There’s deals to be had everywhere:)
They are best known for their audio components like record players, amplifiers etc. Linn makes very high quality gear. They also make very high quality speakers. Thanks for stopping by, my friend!
They most definitely are! They also made timers, preamps speakers etc. It was always a brand I couldn’t afford new but they do pop up every once and a while on the 2nd hand market:) Thanks for stopping by!
@@blazermdx No, I'm not looking for Tukan's in particular but this pair just looked nice. I have a small room and like playing with nice small speakers. My reference is a pair of Harbeth HL-P3's.
Yeah, they are nice sounding speakers. Elegant is how I’d describe them. I would keep your options open to brands that can go under folks radars, like Aperion, Axiom, RBH, SVS etc. Those internet direct brands are putting out some pretty killer bookshelf speakers.
