Lions are so numerous now that they wander into the surrounding villages at night to prey on cattle. The people still don’t kill them and surprisingly, even the lions leave the people alone. But some of these lions need to be shifted to other national parks across the country as the Gir sanctuary is now overpopulated with lions.
India is Homeland to many major Species of Big and Small Cats found in this planet:-Asiatic Lion, Royal Bengal Tiger, White Tiger, Snow Leopard, Leopard, Clouded Leopard, Black Panther, Cheetah, Desert Cat, Swamp Cat, Civet Cat, Jungle Cat and Himalayan Lynx.
India is the only country in the world that has both tigers and lions. The natural habitat of the Indian lion is the Gir forest in Gujarat. Tigers are found in the forests of Madhya Pradesh, the Sundarbans of West Bengal and the Himalayan region.
Yup. Most of Tanzania's land area is set aside for wildlife. This is major because lions require very large areas to roam comfortably without coming into contact with humans. Of course, lions do kill about 80 people in Tanzania annually, but the numbers would likely be way higher if there weren't as many conservation areas in the country as there are now.
India have now 800 lion population . Which was only 200-250 in 2000 . After 20-23 years it's now 800 in numbers . Government Target is to increase lion population more than 1000 / 1k . And India will be came in top 10 list where lion population is highest . India is now on 11-12th ranks in the list .
@@manchagojohnsonmanchago6367 Can't...with tigers leopards wolves hyenas wild dogs pythons ect the prey base for them won't support such huge lion population
@Manchagojohnson Manchago Lions in India don't eat humans..many live near near human habitations and cooperate with humans. Our lions too are very civilized compared to where you come from.
India el único país del mundo que alberga los mayores felinos en su hábitat natural como los leones, tigres, leopardos, y el majestuoso leopardo de las nieves, además de pitones, cocodrilo de agua salada, osos negros, rinocerontes, elefantes...tan cool
Nyerere our founding father by being selfless and non corruptive gave way to a free nation where everyone respects the other and the country resources too are fiercely respected
You don't say so. If lions of other countries hear it(paradise of lion), they go to Tanzania😂. They think that the Tanzania is a democracy country for lins😂
In India both humans and lions have learnt to coexist with each others, they are even seen sprawling on highways and among farmers in the state of Gujarat where there is a huge lion reserve.
Well done India yet again. As usual they have shown love to animals. I wonder though how the Lions and Tigers get along? I know wold tigers exist but not too sure about wild lions in the same space
No dear. In my country india, Lions can be seen only in gir national park where tigers are absent . But Tigers can be seen in Himalayan, south indian, Sundarban, Central indian regions. India is the only country where Lions and Tigers seen Even though, They do not share a common habitat. There's no place where these two majestic creatures coexist
@@RooneyK-lp6ve Thank you so much for the insight. That actually makes sense. I do believe Tigers to be much stronger than Lions and would easily wipe out their competitors if they existed in the wild together. So were Lions imported into India or were they there since the beginning? Like I know for some African countries horses were imported even though now you would find wild horses. Even in Australia rabbits were imported and were not naturally there even though now you find them in the wild in numbers
Actually the lions in India is known as Asiatic lion, it is genetically different species from african lion ; centuries ago the Asiatic lions were found in Asia's middle eastern countries including Iran to all across India but due to excessive hunting they all were extinct from those countries except few (approx 16) wild asiatic lion were left in India's Gujarat state in 1950s, from that time both local people and government's enormous efforts help to increase the asiatic lion population above 500. Now india is the only country in the world where you can see another sub species of lion except African lion.
@@RastaAfricanGentleman lions have always been there. Some might have been imported but I can tell coz in Hinduism we worship Narsimha (Nar - Man, Simha - Lion) who is Vishnu's incarnation with a full grown lion's face but with a man's body. He's been worshipped for thousands of years.
India is only country outside of Africa with lions. Also it was less than 400 few years ago, it's number is increasing now due to preservation. Proud of my country's diversity. It was all types of big cats now after reintroduction of Cheetah 🐆
Only one word for your country: congratulations ! You are now the most inhabited country in the world and you can be so efficient by protecting some wild animals like the lions, tigers, elephants, rhinos, bears, wolves and so on which need big areas of wild space... 👍
India is a blessed country. You can find lions, tigers, leopards, bears, hyenas, wolves, pandas, elephants, cobras, yaks, etc in its wild. India has so many terrains like snow mountains, hot deserts, cold deserts, rain forests, grasslands etc.
Hongera sana Tanzania na serikali yake kwa ujumla. Sio kazi ndogo kutunza wanyama hawa mpaka sasa. Mungu awabariki na muendeleze uaminifu kwa nafasi ya utunzaji tuliyowapa.
@@Sungawakan thts wht makes me scratch my head ... Namibia 🇳🇦of all Countries... They even mentioned the country wth th least Lions (only 2).... but Namibia 🇳🇦 whch is over 2000 or 3000 lions of combination of Forest Lions and Desert Lions.
Of course because it's Savannah there very preferable. But in other hand I'm doubt in the Selous GR, Katavi NP and Ruaha NP may have an un recorded numbers of a huge contigent of wandering lions each one !!
A África do Sul é um verdadeiro santuário para leões. 2 mil indivíduos, devido a caça ser tão forte lá eu tinha uma visão errada da preservação ambiental no país. Congratulations South Africa. 2000 lions is a really good number, you guys are making a good job in the lion preservation, Huges from Brazil.
One of the reasons for Tanzania's higher population is the route of mass migration of antelope, zebra, wildebeest & cape buffalo etc runs through the country.
Beats me as to how Namibia 🇳🇦 was left out of this list despite having both Savanah lions and Desert lions. Makes me doubt how authentic these stats are, they are probably all incorrect.
@@nuruworldinsight2957 Don't be daft or dumbfounded. You cannot tell me that with our Savanah lion population of about 2000 and 3000+ when we combine desert lions we don't meet "strong hold" countries like Malawi and Cameroon that have 5 and 10 respectively. Educate yourself
India❤, great, we want jaguar too here in india, Assam forests very similar to Latin american, so they can live happily in india, no danger of poaching as Indians mostly don't hunt, and Indian govt planning to increase forest from 24% to 33% in next 20 years,
I think that there is no need of introducing jaguar in India, because jaguar is not native here. Jaguar will be an invasive species here, and invasive species have bad impact on the ecosystem. We should focus on conserving the native species.
correct i'm also against cheetahs being introduced in india as african cheetahs r different than asiatic cheetahs & they have no suitable environment & habitat in india decreasing numbers of cheetahs in india have shown it we should introduce wild lions in rest of india @@anshumandhingan6277
I am surprised I being an Indian know that our country was a part of Africa during Cretaceous period it took millions of years for that piece of land to separate itself from Africa and smashed all the way towards China which gave birth to the Himalayas and my country was born!
Alright, the South Sudan one is quite under numbered. I assure you there are twice as much lions in the Boma wildlife migration which is duped the world's largest mammal migration than there are in Uganda and Kenya. It's just unfortunate that we're unable to share this beautiful side of Kushland with the rest of the world. Love from SSD 🇸🇸🖤

Felicitaciones a todos los países por cuidar y proteger a estos bellos animales y en especial a Tanzania y su gobierno por la labor de respeto a los leones desde Perú.
As a game ranger working at one of the most internationally popular Namibian game Reserves, that houses 4 lodges and situated on the outskirts of the Great Etosha National Park with plenty of lions on the reserve as well as in the Etosha National Park,I'm shocked that my country Namibia 🇳🇦 is not on the list so i wonder how accurate these statistics are.
True, as a Southern African, I am also surprised. I know for a fact that a lot of Lions are found across the region eg. Zimbabwe, RSA , Botswana and Namibia.
Not including Namibia doesn’t make the list inaccurate. Is it not better than putting Namibia and saying you only have 2 lion population that would be much crazy than not being on the list
Hello, I'm Ebenhard Mbaotama Karita from Okamatapati Namibia and our country might have the largest number of Lions as we're having all types of Lions in the world. I see my country being overlooked or left out of this historical display or video. It will be interesting if you add Namibia with its flag and figures please.
Yet the national animal of Tanzania is Giraffe 🦒 . I believe there is understatement for TZ figure. By 2018, Selous game reserves had 7,000, Serengeti National park 3,200 not to mention the unknown population of other famous and large NP like, Ngorongoro, Ruaha, Mikumi, Katavi, Manyara (the home of tree climbing lions), Tarangire, Arusha and Saadani.
