Serious question, I'm thinking of getting an n690, 6" standard design for bush craft , or get home knife(trying to put term 'survival' and 'tactical' to rest before the tv program addled minds hear words that trigger them) My question : can a m390 blade be reliable at that length? In theory, a 6" or 7" m390 sounds great, but, am told there are serious issues with heat treatment phase of that metal, at that length. N690 is said to be more reliable, but, to me, it's advantages over a simple D2 are not really that obvious. An m390 on the other hand, edge retention ,and just plain laser sharp edge, intrigues me. I don't know if it's worth the admission to the m390 6" blade show. Also, I saw a 8cr13mov blade today online, Chinese seller, on blade was clearly marked " m390, black print. ...😮

I have one of these as well. Now they are all made in 3V. I wonder why the switch? K490 is not a bad steel, and is in fact very tough steel. Too expensive or to hard to source is my guess, but only a guess.
