hey! I just ordered and got this gun last week. I didnt know it was brand new I just wanted a 327 and it struck my fancy. It's a great gun in a shockingly amazing cartridge, especially if you are a handloader. The power, versatility, and cost effectiveness of 327 fed mag can really not be realized untill one starts to handload. My only complaint about the gun is those grips are HUGE. they are super fat, at my local gunstore the day I got the gun it was split pretty close to 50/50 on wether people liked them or hated them. I was in the not category, I prefer a slim grip, so I have some nice walnut grips in the mail coming to me right now. Also a tip on the sights. They are great for fast "social work" but they are hard to shoot really accuratly compared to a classic patridge sight, at least in my experience, I also switched those out for classic style square notch in the rear and modified the front sight to replicate a Keith style front sight.I am currently shooting a 115 grain hard cast bullet at 1257 fps even though its only a 4 5/8 inch barrel! and it consistantly shoots 1.5 inch groups at 25 yards, Ruger and Lipseys put together a winner on this one.
You already have the fixed sights on the 3.75" Single Seven. All you would have to do is give it the 5.5" barrel and the grips. Surely it can't be that difficult.
I don't know fast acquisition sights on a single action revolver kinda seems gimmicky. Maybe some Bomar's but Rugers standard adjustable sight would've made me just as happy. I could see using this as a trail gun and taking shots on small game but with those sights I'm very hesitant. In the 44 mag with birds head grips those sights would be great in bear country it's kinda hard to miss the vitals on a bear but it's kinda easy to miss head and neck shots on Jack rabbits and Grouse.
