We are truely blessed to have lived in a time where KJG was still alive. He was a once in a lifetime experience guy and I am glad that we are able to experience his work and art even after this passing. There must be tons of unshown material and work he did not publish by now. Thank you Superani, Hyunjin Kim and everyone art Kazone Art that you keep his legacy alive and support his family. Please protect his work and his name from greedy investors and money maker. He was always about the message and never about money when it comes to his loyal fans. We will meet you on the other side, master KJG.

What is most astonishing to me is how he just draws perfection from his first strokes. It's like he is tracing over the mental image he has built in his mind. I take at least 4 to 6 passes of build up to something I'm happy with. An absolute Legend joining the great pantheon of artists. His creative mind will be sorely missed, but his creative works will inspire future generations to push the envelope of greatness.
@CrniWuk
@CrniWuk Год назад
It's easier when you think about basic shapes rather than details. The human body for example made of tubes, blocks, circles and giving it perspective and volume. It takes practise to think and draw like that. But it's doable. Not to mention that no drawing or painting usually ends up like you have in your head when you create something from your imagination. It is kinda close to it. Can be really frustrating sometimes. You would be surprised how often artists end up saying that they see plenty of errors in their work where as everyone else thinks it's fine.

I bought every sketch book collection of Kim Jung Gi and after years of studying I began to see how he does it. I never thought in my wildest dreams I'd be able to draw from imagination and in different perspectives. I tried reading other artist how to books and even training videos but it didn't work. However, I found Kim Jung Gi training videos and followed his every advice to letter and man, did it work. It was like everything clicked together BUT only when I mastered fundamentals of anatomy, drawing figures and everything I saw with my eyes. The way he simplified everything in his training videos and sketches clicked for me. It is sad for me that I cannot thank him personally because due to him, his way of drawing, the way he explains and his many hours of his private digital videos, it took my drawing game to a whole new level that opened so many doors for me right now. So rest in peace King Jung Gi. You paved way for me man.

As an artist let me tell you this. Kim was a true master of his craft. However I can spot many errors in his work. Mainly anatomical ones. Also with perspective. I am not saying this to dimnish his achievements. As I said, he is a true master. But often enough for us artists the real trick is to mask our "errors". Make it look natural. Like a part of the work. So that it looks natural and seamless. Making that look right requires years of dedication, training and sketching. What you basically see here is like watching a top athlete performing in something he trained his whole life for. But there are still small errors and flaws here and there.

I learned only now of his passing, and the news caused me great sorrow. First of all because he seemed like a good person and because he gave so generously and openly of his art and ability. He was one of those rare people who, despite having a very rare gift, did not seem to show attachment to it, simply their life flowed with it. He was one of those artists who seem to have been sent to earth only to accomplish a work ... once that is finished it is not necessary for their soul to continue on the material plane. Perhaps for all creatures this is so, but in the lives of artists this may be evident. Really few people in the world who can match his abilities. TOP quality of realistic images, NO reference in front of eyes. He possessed absolutely extraordinary imagination and photographic memory. Millions of artists try to achieve these dreamy abilities, almost a minor siddhi, but with current knowledge it is not possible. It is not a matter of learning step by step for long time to remember what an object looks like, but to memorize and recall the photographic shape of objects, or/and the three-dimensional shape and structure of an object instantly after had seen it, so clearly that it can be ''projected'' and drawn on a surface. Rest in peace Kim.
