Doesn't matter who wrote it. An original is when it first recorded. Ednaswap 1995, this 1993.

It is certainly clear though that LS's version was the first **commercially released** recording of the song in question.

I just scrolled down the comments and someone else has explained: Here's the Breakdown: Lis Sørensen hears the Ednaswap song at a concert, and releases the first ever studio recording of the song for the Scandinavian market, with Danish lyrics. It sounds somewhat different. Not long after, Ednaswap releases their own version internationally, with the lyrics everybody knows and loves. When Trine Rein from Norway decides to do a version in 96, she leans very closely to Lis Sørensen. Then Natalie comes along and sound exactely like Trine.

This version came out in 1993. It wasn't Natalie Imbruglia's song either. There were 3 versions Before Natalie. It is still Ednaswap's song. Lis Sørensen just has the first released version, which is a Danish translation of Ednaswap's demo, which still makes It Ednaswap's song. Ednaswap released first version in 1995. Ednaswap re-recorded it for their EP "Chicken" in 1996 on another label. and Norwegian singer Trine Rein also released a cover in 1996, before Natalie.

@@PeterPan-o3x Phil Thornalley wasn’t an Ednswap member. He just produced their first version. Soulshock & Karlin produced “Brændt.” “Brændt” has 3 writers - Anne Preven, Scott Cutler, Elisabeth Gjerluff Nielsen. Anne Preven and Scott Cutler are Ednaswap. Elisabeth Gjerluff Nielsen was a Danish singer and song writer who was responsible for the Danish translation. If Phil Thornalley is listed as a writer on “Brændt” on streaming services, he was added to it later on.
