The early years of this show were the best. Cooking gags. Monroe Brothers. Characters recognizing show credits. Richard Bare was one heck of a director and a perfect match with the writers. Though the show went flat toward the end, Green Acres is a top ten comedy.
I like when she weighed it trying to make it one pound. Then Oliver told her that was just the name and she could make it as heavy as she wanted. I think it ended up being 20 pounds. 😂
Loved the show, still do now on retro channels. Albert an excellent straight man, many howling-funny side characters. Of course Lisa plus Haney, Eb, Kimball, Ziffel, ARNOLD ,Drucker, on and on. Recurring bits like the hotscakes, coffee, phone pole, etc were/are funny even now. SHAME on CBS for randomly deciding to cancel the show.
By real food. He does have a pot roast that was made by a female farmer....it's not shown on screen. But he was visiting her a lot to get tips. And she asked if he wanted to stay to eat....and saw the Pot roast....Lisa was jealous and though Oliver was cheating on her, and got more cooking lessons. And there was the dehydrated stuff Lisa brought....and it was fried chicken dinner. Which actually looked delicious as Lisa didn't really cook it. So it's assumed he ate that. There was also the time Lisa made a chocolate cake in a cake box....and it was good according to Oliver.
I think though Oliver went out to eat a lot....since Lisa couldn't really cook. At least she tried. Like her first attempt with Spaghetti was just taken it out of the box and putting it on a plate. And next time, she did what Oliver told her and used boiled water...but it ended up becoming some big giant tangled ball of pasta. LOL.
@@Youngstown529 Have another one. What about the episode "Al and Ralph break up'...I know it was reconned. But Ralph was an excellent housekeeper and amazing cook. It was the first great meal he's had in a long time. (Later Ralph couldn't cook...and it was worse than Lisa's)
@@shantyirish7564: Ivana Trump was from Czechoslovakia (Now known as both the Czech Republic and Slovakia, which are both separate countries.) And of course, Eva Gabor was from Hungary.
Hank Kimble did a pretty good job on the show.. well not a pretty good job more like a fairly good job well no more like a good job well not a good job well kind o......
Like Megan Mull lays "Karen" from Will & Grace and a few other sit-com characters over televisions 75 years, Ava's Lisa character got funnier and funnier with every new season. The show in general instead of getting stale with each passing season seemed to only get more and more creative, odd, obnoxious, louder, and most importantly, funnier. I tend to skip seasons 1 & 2 and hit the series hardcore by skipping straight to Season 3!
