Best comedy ever. Hank Kimble cracked me up.....well not cracked, more like broke me up..........well not exactly broke me up......that was my mother......no wait, it was my father........no, come to think of it..........! If you are looking for the very best episode, get the one about the square eggs.
I do auto repair for living. When you understand the properties required for a head gasket to work properly, it makes this about 5 times funnier than it already is.
Tom Lester, known as Eb Dawson, died recently. He said the six years he spent on Green Acres were the best of his life and he was good friends with Eva Gabor and Ed Albert
I have often wondered over the years how all those Green Acres actors all kept a straight face when doing their scenes in this epic series. The likes of Oliver Wendell Douglas, Hank Kimball, Alf and Ralph Monroe and the Ziffels often have me on the floor laughing to tears! I wish a Green Acres blooper reel existed showing the times that they couldn't contain their mirth when doing their scenes. That would be absolutely hilarious!
They televised the blooper reel and edited out the straight scenes. The cutting room floor was littered with some of the finest dramatic acting in the English language. Alvy Moore's Hank Kimball was intended to be a King Lear for the 20th century.
I remember an episode where Lisa's was saying "you don't like my cooking", and Oliver said "I love your cooking, look! I took one of your hotcakes and I glued a knob to it and it makes a great sink stopper!" Great innocent silliness.
Positively stunningly beautiful with an acting personality to match. Does anyone recall the episode where she steps out of the outdoor shower and quickly wraps a towel around? Absolutely a work of art for television in the 60's.
Hank kimball is my all time favorite, well almost favorite actor .lisa sure can cook.its a miracle oliver didnt have a stroke dealing with Mr. Haney.Pat Buttram is the best salesman in T.V. history. The monroe brothers are a hoot too.thanks for my childhood memories. Its March 21 2019 already.cheers from Milwaukee.burp!! ♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
@John Everett my favorite Mr Kimball line was (while on the porch) “I fell in the hole in the porch , well I didn’t fall in the hole in the porch “ amazingly funny man
And Mr. Kimball was originally not supposed to be a moron, he was actually supposed to be somewhat normal like Mr. Douglas. He is quite different in his first couple of appearances.
One of my favourite lines - when, as usual, Mr Haney turns up at the Douglas farm with his cart full of "Gen-u-wine" goods Oliver " Mr Haney, how come you always turn up with exactly what I want ?" Mr Haney " How come you always need exactly what I turn up with ?"
Season 1, Ep. 20 . (or thereabouts) The Price of Apples .. getting his apples to market .. this is just too good. The suit and tie, diagnoses and replaces bad head gasket. Lisa with, "Vant me to schhow you a better Vay?" to make hotscakes .. just fabulous. The writing is right off of a Broadway show and the Hotscakes theme just runs on through the whole series. Real entertainment.
$4 a bushel until they broke down and missed the window of opportunity. Then $1.75 a bushel as all the guys in Hootersville said and had sold theirs to him. Another hilarious Green Acre comuppance!
Peter Greeter the meter reader, and lawler the installer.Feder feeders are the leaders in feeders!! County kimball Hank agent doesn't know if he's coming or going! JENN-U-WINE COMEDY !!!🐷🐷🐷🐷🐖🐖🐖🐖🐖🐖🐖🐖🐖🐖🐖🐖🐖🐖🐖
Just Me they don't want people to move out of the cities and become self sufficient. Why do you think married with children got cancelled? It was anti feminist, that's why.
@@alanmalcheski8882 Yep. Weren't they advertising Virginia Slims you've come a long way baby on TV about then? It all started downhill in that decade. Look where it's led us? A 29 yr old male masquerading as a woman just took Championship Top Prize from a 13 YEAR OLD GIRL in a new york WOMENS skateboarding competition.
Eva Gabor was so hot. One of the most beautiful actresses that ever hit Hollywood. Far beautiful than anybody today and in my opinion far more beautiful than Marilyn Monroe.
Stunning beauty. The episode where she steps out of the outdoor shower in front of two guys from the Agriculture Dept. just floors me. 1960's Television !! And Eva's comedic acting is quite a rare talent surprise. I can think of very few other more modern ones to pull that off like Cybill Shepherd or Sandra Bullock.
Her head gasket was better than the OEM head gasket. By the way if you need a fast and efficient mechanic. Call Mr. Douglas of Hooterville. He 'll fix anything in seconds. Even a head gasket replacement. Lol
Just noticed the cylinder head on the ground was an L head. The gasket holes would actually need to be the mickey mouse style, not circular. Still the best episode ever.
If your head gasket blows today, a dealer will charge you a fortune because of the labor involved. We need to go back to the technology used in Oliver's old truck. He got it out without many tools on the side of the road, and without removing the cylinder head. After that, pancake batter did the trick. We need to forward this video to the people at Ford, Honda, Chevrolet, etc., so they can use it to improve their cars.
Is that the episode where it ended up that his house is in four different counties? I seem to recall maybe it was because of taxes but Oliver found out that his house was technically in Hooterville, Pixley, and Crawford's Corner or something like that.
I actually remember this from the original series back in the '60s, but faulty memory tells me it was the tractor that needed a head gasket, and it was Lisa's horribly tough pancake batter recipe that allowed it to be tough enough to withstand the pressure.
Virginia Mayo and eva Gabor competed for the job to be Mrs. douglas. Eva Gabor was a good sport as the writers used to poke fun at her accent. It wouldn't have worked if Mayo got the job.
virginia mayo auditioned for the role of Lisa douglas, but obviously hiring Eva Gabor gave the writers all sorts of material putting gabors accent to use for humor.
Vince Barnett was the cook that was gonna make Oliver his hot cakes until Lisa showed him a better way. Recognized Vince from his bit parts in 30's and 40's movies where he often played a klutz side kick. RIP Vince.
No matter what work Mr. Douglas does on the farm, he is dressed like a CEO. Remember when the local men wore suits to make Oliver realize how foolish he looked?
The resolution is low on this clip and I wonder if that's really Eddie Albert & Eva Gabor driving that truck or doubles. It's outside driving, probably somewhere in Tulare County California, but inside on a soundstage when Oliver tears the engine down.
