@@Anymous578 no she wouldn't lol. I have played against a wnba player before lol. Literally. Well she was still in college at the time. Females just aren't quick enough
That was dumb for the other girl to keep trying to lay it in after she kept blocking her attempts. She should've been smart and passed the ball to another teammate after the 1st block cuz Lisa clearly stood right next to her each time she attempted 😂
I remember watching the first game of the wnba. Sparks vs Liberty. I’ve been a Sparks and Storm fan for a long time. My daughter who is 6 mentioned that girls don’t play basketball. I just told her watch… showed her this clip of Lisa Leslie. Obviously I knew what number 1 was but, in number 6 my daughter again said but girls can’t do a lot of things but can. I told her girls can do as much as boys Can some even better at a lot of different things… countdown kept going, number 1 showed up and as soon as Lisa dunked the ball I got so teary eyed remembering that dunk. My daughter couldn’t grasp that she was able to dunk that I had to show her 3 more times. I told her “see, I’m a boy and I can’t dunk” she said she wants to do that. I told her we’ll start with the basics first… thank you WNBA and thank you to Los Angeles Sparks and to Seattle Storm and to my favorite WNBA player Lisa Leslie all are inspiration to the future of our daughters.
This league had so many more fans in attendance at the start and halfway into this century. Hard to imagine how a league as young as this hasn’t figured out how to market its players. It’s gotten to the point where they now have to play in smaller arenas than the NBA ones they used to play in. Sad. League has a world of talent with zero direction as far as growing its fanbase. In recent years, there have been head scratching times that games have come on. They have had 1 PM games on week days. The entire league would have a random day like Mondays off. They have 2 games a night some nights. Can’t grow a league like that. Doesn’t help that there is minimal commercials or advertisement for the league. Whoever is in charge of marketing is asleep at the wheel and has been for years.
This is such an excellent assessment of the conundrum that is the league. Put a lot into perspective for me. I hope there’s still time to salvage the situation!
@@InvisibleBlues This take might actually be a couple of years old though. The WNBA has more people paying attention to it right now than ever. That's probably why they're having their most nationally televised games ever this season. "For the first five games aired on ESPN this year, viewership was up 74% over 2020 and up 45% from 2019, while, on ABC, numbers are up 28% from last year." I don't stream it on the app, but it seems like that could use some fixes since fans seem to complain a lot about it. Certainly wouldn't help with new fans using the service. WNBA could be better, but to make it like it's doing worse than it ever has when it's more popular than ever is kinda wild.
You are not out of your mind. A local boys high school team scrimmaged the Detroit Shock and won. They were a very average high school team with no D1 college talent.
With all due respect the no 2 highlight was 3 blocks of which the last two Leslie did not get off the ground by more than a couple inches. Point is, these are career highlights. Hence the pay gap with the NBA.
South Korea = KOR = ROK = Republic of Korea's WKBL women's professional basketball highest-paid player is 315,000 dallars. But, WNBA women's professional basketball is highest-paid player is 224,000 dallars. The world's highest professional basketball league WNBA is 91,000 dallars less than WKBL's highest-paid player. I hope that the salaries of WNBA players, the world's highest professional basketball league, will be treated as the world's highest. NBA Stephen Curry's salary is $4.7 million, but the WNBA player's salary seems to be too low.
You meant $47 million. It may seem wrong at first glance but you have to get the full story. There is a salary cap in the WNBA, I’m not sure if there is one in WKBL. Salary cap restricts the amount a team can pay a single player and also the roster of players. The WNBA as a whole loses ~$10million per year in profit. The NBA subsidizes the WNBA every year so they can operate. The WNBA in 26 years of existence has never once turned a profit. At this point the WNBA seems like a charity league for women created by the NBA, you really can’t compare the salary of NBA STARS to that of the WNBA because the WNBA is 100% reliant upon the success of the NBA
For All yal wack comments says LL not all that. I bet you couldn't guard her in her Prime! LL scored 101 points in High school in 16 minutes 🙏💯 Embarrassed other school sooooo bad, they quit before she broke, Cheryl Miller record of 105 points! Get a freaking clue! If you any real ass basketball fan, you respect the game of people that might not have been from your era! That's why I know half these ridiculous comments are from fools ain't NEVER really balled, except elementary! Lisa, did just as much for the Sparks, as Kobe did for the Lakers! Plus Lisa went to Morningside high and USC, a local talent! Lisa is also a broadcaster, and her Husband is a Pilot, and they Still married to this day! A Olympic Athlete, repeatedly! STOP IT!!!!💯💯💯💯💯💯
She need to come out of retirement and be the women that plays in the nba not the wnba and THE LAKERS NEED A CENTER but fr lisa was the goat of the wnba and she was great and I get tired of wnba toxic comments not really a fan but it is entertaining I also think philly, nj ,birmingham or montgomery need an wnba team
