My problem with her songs is that they lack soul, they are songs that are too self-centered. And yes, it is normal for a rapper or artist to talk about their money or things like that, but the three songs that Lisa has released only talk about herself, that she is great, that she is the baddest in the room, that everyone loves her, that she has a lot of money, that she is a rockstar blah blah.
@@wise5746 The op is just saying she has released same type of songs with same concept for years and that could be the reason why her song isn't getting much stream.
I honestly feel like artists that add more soul and flavour to their work, receive MUCH better responses from the audience. Ariana Grande is an example, she's got talent to offer, BUT she's also serving song meaning. Also she has a very cool conceptual vision switch up every time she returns for a new album. I'd say that's a strength on Lisa's part too.
@@shykobaxxi9044 but I think she loves rapping But of course dancing is her passion, and I was asked before whether I should choose singing or dancing, and she chose dancing
@@blarmy827 And she uses the same moves everywhere. There aren't any footwork either. she needs to do more rap songs like ice spice. she has potential.
She has three solo songs ,with the same concept of "I'm the best,i have money ,I can spend it , I'm rockstar , I'm on top " Like girl ,yes okay , you're rich , you've made it clear with not one ,not two ,but THREE songs .maybe it's time to focus on another topic for your other solo song?
Lisa Rockstar in my opinion: - the song fun for the first 5-10 play then it hurt my ears. - cringe lyric that people can't relate to. - heavily autotuned. - the chorus not catchy and I can't even do the key point for the dance.
Her songs don't feel genuine like they actually lack deepness and the songs that just hits you hard.. But Lisa's songs dont. Her songs are just for her to dance, you cant really connect with them.
Not all songs need a deep meaning. This song has a good instrumental (to me at least) and the lyrics are just good lyrics to listen to and feel cool. Anyways my point is: you dont need to be able to connect with a song for it to be good. Like, Billie Eilish’s biggest song is her least “deep”. And many of the biggest hits on the planet don’t have deep meanings, and if they do, it’s definitely not everyone who “connects”.
that isn't really a problem and it's just a matter of personal preference as some artists don't make music that has deep meaning. Lisa is making music to dance and feel energised to and she delivers in that department, ESPECIALLY because her main skill is performance and dance. Not everyone wants to be personal with their music, or making music that you can emotionally connect with.
Don’t hate me for saying this, but I don’t see Lisa as an artist, she’s a great performer and can be a great brand if she plays her cards right in the industry, but she never expressed a want to be an artist with a vision and an emotion , it’s always , “look how cool I am “ which works for her but the song won’t do well unless she promotes the h3ll out of it
This is BP in general they're not artists but they have a multimillionaire label with the perfect marketing that sold them successfully in the west as the best thing ever and people blinded by their appearances have believe it, that's why they have invested is much un brand deals and collabs with bigger artists in the industry
@@sweetjss I have a feeling that jennie and rose wanted to write and make albums but weren’t allowed to, jennie even said she had a notebook full of songs since she was a trainee same with rose
The song 'Rockstar' by Lisa is experimental and may not appeal to everyone. If you have a limited taste in music genres, you might not appreciate the unique style of this track.
her fans try SO hard to make her lyrics deeper than they are. a bunch of them were saying that line, "lisa, can you teach me japanese?..." was about a lot of people think all asian people are chinese or japanese-- even tho shes thai. so it was meant to be a "diss" to them🙄. we can ALL be a lil delulu at times, but her fans stay with that mentality lol
honestly i thought only that line from the entire song was pretty clever and made sense. rest of it was pretty cringe. "gold teeth sitting on the dash" like ok and what? if we pretend we cant hear the lyrics, the songs a vibe. but yeah people need to stop acting like every single thing she makes is game focking changing, cause it is not. like if i put out this exact song, i would been thrown off of a building and made fun of till i die. she should try singing in thai so atleast she doesn't have to struggle with so much. i ve heard thai baddie music and goddamn does it hit.
Ofc it flopped in the US like...who tought that putting M.I.A 'bad girl' chorus, sampling Tame Impala 'same old mistakes' and using Travis Scott's 'FE!N' mv concept would work?! Look at her single photoshoot too, she looks like Rihanna in 'Shut up and drive'. US doesn't need another copy. Wake me up when this girl create something original (and yes, Money and Lalisa were also sampled).
I said the same thing in another post especially the comparison to Rihanna and got chewed by the Blinks. She needs to come out stronger than this if she wants to succeed in the USA.

Nobody in BP has embraced the "I'm too good for you" image more than Lisa has. It just screams narcissist at this moment even though the girl has very little vocal and rap skills to back up that self enforced hype/flex or whatever it is. Like watch her live. It's mostly her lip synching, twerking and yelling out a few words every now and again. She'll completely choose to forego the singing bits cuz she knows she can't pull them off. She's even more of a nasal singer than Rose is which is quite the feat.
Rosé has always been my main bias in BlackPink, from the moment I first saw her I fell in love with her personality. What about me guys? I’m the hottest, okay…Lisa is a great dancer but I can’t see her having a full career singing..Slowly Jisoo is starting to became my 2nd bias because Lisa is just doing too much for me..I’m tired of the “I’m better than you” attitude she gives off..

rap isn't black music, also i hear 0 similarity in this song to any music that is being made in the US right now, not that it means it's better than everything, but it is in some way, special.
@@ZACKARDO I didn't say anything close to "rap music being black", how did you come to this conclusion? She's not appropriating the music, she's literally appropriating "being black." The girl raps in ebonics/AAVE, while coming from Thailand & Korea, which are monoethnic countries. This actually got so bad during Ice Cream era she got huge backlash for it. Black people called her out again and again and again on many of her verses. She has no experience living around a black neighbourhood so, where do you think she got the accent from? She also got huge criticism for wearing braids for "Money" dance performance 2 or 3 years ago. And she got called out by a black fan of hers & she actually apologized. Wanna know what she did next? She got tanned as hell for Rockstar. And when she got called out for blackfishing, her fans said "this is her real skin tone!!!" only to discover that her skin is as white as paper during the backstage videos of her teaser photoshoot. Turns out her skin tone got photoshopped to hell. Do you know who got heavily criticised for blackfishing recently? Ariana Grande. It's something a lot celebs do, using external products such as tanning cream, bronzer, darker foundations, etc., to appear black or mixed-race. Lisa did the same fucking thing. Haven't apologized or acknowledged it. Don't think she ever will. These combined with her mannerisms, the style, the chain, the gold teeth, the nails, the pose, the grill... it's like she's doing her best imitation of a female black rapper. And when you have actual talented black female rappers who are way more skilled than her, who are actual rappers that write their verses, who actually come from the culture, why would people listen to a cheap copy of them?

Lisa’s rap also makes no sense and you guys can’t blame teddy OR Yg because she has her own company now. The only thing she is above average on is dancing. I think she should stick to dancing and leave the mic alone, she can do covers of songs or become a choreographer or smthn

I'm sad that people are actually saying this idea was the original, I'd say that because Lisa's team met up with Travis Scott's director of the music video, " FE!N " and they asked if they could use his work as reference and the director declined, but then they used his scene without asking permission when he declined, this is plagiarism...!!
Honestly her songs are catchy because of the instrumentals and beats , it's just the lyrics that bother me in all her songs. Wish she'd do korean song so i won't have to cringe when i listen to it.
I'm a huge day-one fan but Rockstar is a song with seemingly no musicality? Like it doesn't feel fun enough to not be carried by anything other than her name and star-power. :( I don't understand why the song felt so empty and it felt like the lyrics weren't trying to do anything but fill up space. It was way too heavy on the generic k-pop vibes for a Western debut imo. Who was this release aimed at? Die-hard fans? I was hoping for something dance-heavy with few, but impactful lyrics. She has so many strengths that this comeback didn't play to. Even the lyrics I didn't hate but didn't enjoy either. I really disliked the first 2 solos and think this one is a big improvement. But I dislike this too I fear.
I tried to listen to it a couple of times, then I stopped. It’s lacking something. It felt too short and repetitive. Even the dance moves are not as good compared to her last single Money.

I’m not surprised. Part of her appeal is being a source of pride for southeast Asians who have gone above and beyond for representation and fueled by seeing Lisa as a victim. Americans have no such feelings so it’s all up to the music and appeal.

She can keep this style, fully drop the blaccent since she did slightly and either let the song be lyrically good or make short good tiktok type songs that are for teens to young adults because thats what her fans like and behaviour like. She needs to stop trying to be an asian doja cat and learn to see music she wanna put out
Regardless of how you feel, having a bit of a "blaccent" is integral to a hip hop/rap style of music, though (which is the genre Lisa leans towards.) Kind of like how having a bit of a country twang is integral to country music. For example: Lil Nas X's song Old Town Road. He doesn't naturally have a country twang but sang with one in that song because it wouldn't sound country otherwise.
Its the same as blackpink, stream farms and payol@ both for video and spotify. When their music is out they slowly rise on spotify to slowly fall and disappear, like flower by jisoo, while "like crazy" (flower competitor) is still charting carried by fans. The problem of blinks is they care more about looks so a tiny part of the fandom is actually listening to their music.

Imagine saying Jisoo cares about music 😂 she’s the last member to care for music. If you’ve been following BP since the beginning, you’d know she initially went for acting but somehow ended up in BP. Only Rosé likes singing. But YG doesn’t make the heartfelt songs she wants.
Jennie literally released Collabs which r different than hee normal blackpink type songs. Slow motion is good, ootg ost is good, spot is catchy and good
I am so happy I found this video because since that single came out I can't think of how bad the song actually is (no, sampling tame impala didn't help at all in this case)... it is so boring and repetitive with almost zero sense... it's obvious that she's famous because she was in a right place at a right time as well as other bp members... the music is just not there... I thought that them leaving yg and starting their own companies would lead to a music that is innovative and interesting and honest but this is just cringe at this point... and no wonder that ppl in the us do not listen to this as much, they've got enough bs music as is
@@acmdu89 really would you think they would be famous on their own... ahahhah please.. there are a lot of talented people around the world but without a known agency they don't make it..
U r right. This song being played so much in my country. Like it's a no.1 radio song here. Atp that I can't stand it anymore 💀💀💀 first, it's not a good song. 2nd, it's too overhyped with these soft power bs🗿🗿🗿
i think this was expected,,,only hardcore fans will stream this multiple times,,,,casual listeners doesnt give a shit about an idol being more busy with vacations and fashion events,,,,hope this will be a lesson to the other bp members,,,,atleast put in some effort ))
in addition i think people are getting tired of the fact she has used the same formula in ALL OF HER SOLOS, as in they are all like "people love me, im so rich, im the best, etc". normally stars have a few songs like this, but having 3 IS RIDICULOUS.
Why are yall pressed on someone not being successful globally, instead of them being local success? The goal in music is never to become a global sensation- it’s to resonate with listeners who WANT to listen to it. Kpop really brainwashed you into thinking music and artists are a flop if they aren’t international success. If anything, Props to Lisa for trying to go against what some company wants her to be.. something many Idols want to be. The criticism you all give similar to this discourages them to do anything outside of what they do in their groups, and they become victims and marionette dolls to play it safe.
you don't think a fully english song by a thai person in kpop is for global success? then you are kidding yourself or too young to understand the industry. actual soulful music that is made by the artist with lyrics that are genuine and meaningful to them isn't made for global success. but a song like rockstar is 10000% made for it. she has released the same type of music she (actually teddy) made while in her company. there is no growth. her lyrics are the same. when a song released by a huge artist with a global following flops in big countries, it is because it has no substance. organic success shows when there is depth and good music in play.
