Are you thinking about working in the public library setting or wondering if this career path is a good fit for you? Find out what's different about the public library setting today and what this means for the future of public librarians. Learn the hiring trends, how to get your foot in the door, interview practices, and the skills that one needs to be successful in today's public library. This is a good opportunity to ask questions.
Biography:
Lisa is Director of Library and Community Services for the City of Sunnyvale. Lisa attended St John's College in Annapolis Maryland for her BA in Liberal Arts and San José State University for her Masters Degree in Library Science. She was nominated to Beta Phi Mu, the International Library and Information Studies Honor Society, and in 2009 was chosen by Library Journal as one of 51 "Movers and Shakers" in the library profession for her work as an innovative director. In 2005, she served on a nationwide task force sponsored by IMLS to study the future of librarians in the workforce. In 2004 Lisa completed a yearlong fellowship at the Urban Libraries Council Executive Leadership Institute and attended the Stanford Institute on 21st Century Librarianship in Summer 2000. She is past President of the Public Libraries Section for the California Library Association and served as a member of the CLA Executive Assembly from 2008-2010. In 2009, Lisa was chosen as a CASA Distinguished Alumni.
