Okay, I spent two and one half years taking Lisinopril. I had the coughing, swelling of feet and ankles, hair loss, a general feeling of not being well. I spent two winters with the absolute worse cases of Gout that anyone ever had. I also passed Kidney Stones the first Winter, two of the supposed worst pains most will ever endure. I went to five different Doctors in that time and none of them ever brought up Lisinopril, THE ONLY MEDICATION I WAS TAKING! I now have neuropathy in the bottoms of both feet that makes me feel like I’m wearing Gel Pads because my feet and ankles were so swollen and painful for so long. It has not been fun!

Hi everyone, (Going through that horrible cough). I have been taking it for 5 months and been to the hospital and urgent care because the coughing and asthma onset. Stopped the meds. 5 days ago and still coughing and can't sleep flat on my bed because of the constant drip down my throat and the itch. I was put on Amlodipine, hopefully this will work.

Same exact thing with me I have a horrible cough from this and I cannot lay flat either. I have to lay sitting up and I’ve been off for four days and it seems to not be going away. I was also switched to almodopine How’s everything working out for you?
@giuseppemontego8479

@@Openyoureyez83this is my experience too. I tried sleeping in a chair and then, more or less, tried sleeping while sitting up in bed (with a bunch of pillows propping me up). Even so, I went six nights without sleeping before the dr visit that told me to stop taking the med. After that, it's improved to the point that I have gotten a couple hours of sleep for the past few nights. I have been off the drug for ~5 days so, hopefully, I am nearing the end of the effect window! How long did it take for you to feel "normal" (assuming you do)?

Same as well. Hope you're all doing better 1 year later after your comments and me finding this video/ replying. It's been almost 2 months since the cough. A week since ceasing Lisinopril and Amlodipine beginning. Humidifier, Vicks, Decongestants, Antibiotics. I assumed Bronchitis. Thanks, Google. I told my doctor I needed off of it and not another ACE as Dr. Noted in this video.

Sadly if you look it up, those with cough from ACE tend to have it with ARB, I was put on Valsartan and Losartan, had same tickle/cough and the pressure got worse on them.

Hi Doctor! I used Lisinopril for years and then developed an annoying cough and one day I woke up with duck lips (swollen). I used it a couple of more days and my cardiologist had me go off of it immediately and my symptoms stopped. He added Lisinopril and Ace Inhibitors on my allergy list since it had began to spread into my face and he no longer wanted me to take it. Thanks for your videos.

I have this annoying hard cough now. Thought I was sick with Bronchitis for 5 weeks. Got Steroids and other meds until my Sister who lives in Florida, who's an RN and her Partner who's a NP said "Get off the Lisinopril". And just take my Beta Blocker only. Watch my BP for a few days and keep track in a journal. My cough should go away. (The coughs been debilitating for me). I've been on this med for 10+ years and now having complications. We'll see what happens. They told me to go on 5mg of Amlodipine for starters if needed.

Was on Lisinipril for several weeks. I already had an intermittent dry seasonal allergy cough. When on Lisinipril, it became much more frequent, spasmodic, longer bouts of coughing. Nothing worked to stop or ease it. Tried Robitussin, Mucines, cough drops, drinking lots of water, etc. Finally came off it and was changed to Losartan. Hope it works better!

1. Switch to ARB. Losartan 2. Stop the med with your doctor's knowledge 3. Try a different ACE inhibitor 4. Some meds may help treat the cough. 5. Try another class of meds. 6. Lower dose of lisinipril

My dry cough started 3 days after taking half tablet per day of lisinopril 20mg-hydrochlorothiazide 25mg. Is it the side effect or could I actually have a cold? I’m stopping for a few days to see if it goes away. Seems like it takes longer to develop the cough.

I have had a terrible time swallowing after I started talking it and I would have a dry cough. I wasn't feeling well and was down for a few days and I didn't take it and I noticed it was easier to swallow and stopped coughing. Why didn't my doctor tell me about this? I stopped taking it because I felt better with out it.

My mother dealt with this...had lung x-rays, tried allergy meds, checking for gerd/acid reflux, etc. Finally figured out what it was. As soon as my hubs started coughing fits on it, we knew what it was. I have been on it over 10 years without issue...until now. And it's been so long I didn't even make the connection at first. With COVID still around I am constantly saying...I'm not sick, I swear.

Try adding IRON supplements!!! ❤ I had read somewhere in my desperate Google searches after almost 2 months of this cough (and one week of switching meds per my request to doctor and NOT another ACE INHIBITOR) to try IRON supplements. After 3 days, my throat and cough is night and day difference. I took NyQuil last night and slept 8 hours also. I credit both. Good luck! Also, unsure if it helped but a LOT of Apple Juice yesterday too. Those are the different variables.
