Even though I live in Canada, I've been following the Vallow-Daybell case(s) very closely since Nate Eaton "discovered" Lori and Chad in Hawaii. Nate is a consummate professional who always conducts himself with great dignity and decorum. His reports and character are the principal reasons why I subscribed to this channel. They decided not to allow cameras because the one & only time the cameras were there they were 100% of them time on Lori valos face. She laughed she smiled she's smirk the entire time. After that they were worried she would not get a fair trial. If they were to appeal, it be granted. So we need to do it once and we need to do it correctly without costing the taxpayers a whole another entire trial and her possibly getting a lesser sentence. We have one chance to make this stick. That's exactly why the judge ordered no more cameras

It’s the LDS Church… I just can’t shake that feeling in my stomach. I really think they have their hands in these cases more than any of us would like to admit. The No cameras thing, the sealed documents… They think if we can’t see these trials that we won’t watch or that we will no longer be highly interested in the criminal actions of Chad and Lori. They’re wrong. We’re listening.

Not _everything._ People’s medical records and mental health evaluations are private and _should be_ private. But there’s absolutely NO good reason why the motions to disqualify Rob Wood and Rachel Smith should be sealed. If John Prior thinks there’s a good enough reason for them to be _disqualified,_ (which hardly ever happens,) and he feels that reason is good enough to bring it up to the judge, _that_ is something that shouldn’t be kept secret. And by keeping those records sealed Boyce is just making himself, the prosecution, and really the whole county look shady af. What’s he trying to hide???

Ms. Hellis is writing a book about the case, that’s why she wants the documents, it has nothing to do with having anyone’s back, other than her own.

There are many who are hungry to see justice for the murder victims, particularly the children. I know "justice is blind," but citizens shouldn't be--not without good reason. I'd just like to know the reason. I'd just like to know if it's a legal reason.

Exactly. If they can't manage this case because of publicity then they're doing something wrong. Either they're under pressure from the LDS or they're being over cautious. There was never any need to ban cameras or seal the amount of motions they have, its ridiculous. Whatever happened to redaction?

OJ had cameras, Casey Anthony had cameras, Scott Peterson had cameras, Jodi Arias had cameras, Johnny Depp and Amber Heard had cameras (although that was a civil case but still a HUGE trial in the media.) If all Boyce was worried about was being able to pick a fair jury he could have just banned cameras from the rest of the PREtrial hearings. Once the jury has been chosen and the actual trial starts, cameras have no actual bearing on whether the jury can be fair or not. They never show the jury anyways these days. You could tell during the hearing about the cameras that Boyce already had his mind made up to ban them. Which makes it seem like he’s less afraid of getting a fair trial and more worried about hiding something. He’s just making himself, the prosecution and Madison and Fremont Counties look super shady.

I thought it was _very_ interesting how John Prior commented that he “didn’t know” if she was “malingering.” I’ve thought she was faking being incompetent the whole time. Lori has been manipulating pretty much everyone her whole life. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if she was playing her attorneys, the jail staff, the hospital staff _and_ the judge to try to get out of facing the consequences of her crimes. Elizabeth Smart’s kidnapper did it for like 6 or 7 years before they realized that he was only “delusional” in the presence of the judge, but in everyday life he was just fine. They finally figured out he was malingering and made his ass stand trial. Lori Vallow was “sane” enough to cover up the murders, she was “sane” enough to lie to friends, family and police about where her kids were so as not to get caught, and she was “sane” enough to dip out to Hawaii when she knew they were closing in on her. She’s SANE enough to stand trial.

I don’t care if she is crazy, it doesn’t change the fact that she murdered her children and Charles. I’m really really tired of the justice system at this point. While i’m just ranting on 😂 I have never understood why federal cases are also not public. We pay for them, why couldn’t we watch Ghilane? 😑 There needs to be a fine line between a mental illness does not get a “I get to delay my judgement day”. @@Hartleymolly Yes, it _does_ seem that in trying to abide by all a defendant’s rights, the rights of the VICTIMS get completely trampled on. Don’t get me wrong, I am a _huge_ proponent in keeping the rights of an accused intact. A person who is accused of a crime definitely _needs_ to have their rights preserved, and EVERYONE, no matter how bad we think they are, deserves the best representation. That’s literally a right our founding fathers fought for. And rightly so. If we are taking away someone’s freedom, and in some cases their life, there should be a very high bar set. I just think there could be more balance. What about a murder victim’s _right to live?_ What about the family of that victim’s right to get justice for their loved one? There has to be a better way. One where guaranteeing one person’s rights doesn’t trample on another person’s.
