@@rabeeshahood2134 also when headless 7 and 8 string guitars FINALLY become a mainstream thing; I’ll be there to say Haken pioneered a lot of that sound. Haken, Tesseract, vola, etc
They're the Dream Theater of this generation. Dream Theater didn't get the recognition they deserved in the 90s and 00s. As prog people we just have to accept our favorite bands will never get the credit they deserve, despite being the best music out.
@MetalManiaxe78 I think I more so meant mainstream in other genres; being utilized in other ways than just metal. I know they’ve been around but they also haven’t been utilized to their fullest yet in the musical community
It's quite a different experience indeed. Not quite as extreme as shown in the uploaded video, mind you. I always listen to the full albums at work. In the car, the full albums are on the flash drive, but the player is set to shuffle. It gets a bit weird when you expect one of the continuation songs (like in Messiah complex) to play at the end of the single track, but then it goes to something different. Other than that, it's still HAKEN all the way.
I get what you're saying, because Eyes of Ebony had also been mash repeated in my playlist, but saying "took years of my life" about a riff from an album that came out a month ago is a bit much lmao
Ectobius Rex is one of Progressive Metal’s most badass moments. The riff, the vocals, the epic solo and the dark reprise from Prosthetic leading to the bone crushing outro. Just balls to the wall badassery.
There should be a giphy of the part of the “Prosthetic” music video where Ross is singing “I don’t want to talk about it anymore” that would be so cool and would work for so many things 😂

I'm not too familiar with Haken, but they seem really good. I've only listened to Visions and Fauna, what would you guys recommend I listen to next? (Edited for spelling error)
My favorite is The Mountain but they have a very eclectic discography so you can pick and chose. Aquarius is very quirky silly and jazzy while still being emotional. Affinity is very 80s influenced and has a lot of electronic and synth work. Vector and Virus are connected and create this epic saga about the cockroach king, these albums are more metal and djent oriented.
@@21DaHoagie12 Vector rocks! The run from Puzzle Box through Host might be my favorite sequence of songs in their discography (even if I like Virus more overall.
Falling Back To Earth Aquarium Visions Messiah Complex Elephants Never Forget The Endless Knot Cockroach King Veil Drowning In The Flood Eyes Of Ebony Those are my 10 favorites of them
