Sisters got it going on... what sensual beautiful playing...!!! a crisp edge where needed... beautiful lyrical phrasing... and GREAT direction always in her rubato... RATHER spectacular!!!
Skills and passion, real virtuosity - thank You so much for the beautiful and magnificient performance. I wished, Liszt could listen Your fine Interpretation of this delicious masterwork! Bravissimo!
In my opinion one of the most beautiful peaces for piano and it's really interesting that every rendition is very different which makes me feel like I'm listening a new arrengement. It's beautiful. Congratulations.
She brings great subtlety and imagination to whatever she plays. Through her remarkable variety of touch and accentuation notes are never just notes, whatever the virtuosic demands.
What "Jota", my God! The "Jota" (for those who do not know it) is the most popular and extended spanish folk dance. Each region of Spain has its "Jota", though the most famous is the Aragon's. It is, I believe, the one has the most character, "claw" and passion. And that, no doubt, is what impressed Liszt, and what you give it, Yeol, in your performance. Bravissima!! May Our Lady of Pilar (patron saint of Zaragoza) fill you with blessings!
Thank you for your insight into how a Jota should be played. Your comment about Jotas makes me curious to hear Jotas from the various regions of Spain including the one from Aragon.
I don’t think there is a “best” pianist in the world. There are many fantastic world class pianists but that is all. No pianist will and has ever played every composer masterfully. Some pianists play certain composers masterfully and some not masterfully.
what was new about this fine playing .Its a big virtuosic piece based on a pop ular melody.Barry Andrews is sitting in the audience I wonder whats he thinking.Cziffra and this lady make magic out of this music .Its so exciting...the interlocking, the fast octaves all the stunts and then too, finally feel you have gotten something magical out of it artistry not finesse not just theatrics to feel you have seen artist make a moment. It aint a schubert sonata.Liszt is divine seeker, superman not cheap
Why isn’t this wonderful pianist all over the front pages of musical performance? Is she not the equal of Yuja Wang? Or Mark-Andre Hamelin? We’ll see what responses are forthcoming ...For now I’ll just say she is magnificent, and I have seen her live too!
The sound seems good to me -- far better than what a synthesizer does when it attempts to sound like a piano. When Yeol Eum plays the clarity is breathtaking. On a synthesizer a chord sounds like mush. But then, when other pianists play, their sound is not quite as clear as that of Yeol Eum either. You did a good job of reproduction!
This cannot even be an argument. Seriously, Kissin's interpretation sounds like a sonata. If you actually prefer his over hers, you're probably not a fan of rhapsodies. If you prefer Kissin, you're better off arguing his superiority with Beethoven.
Son even has a touch with Beethoven. Her performance of the Arietta from Opus 111 - aka greatest piece of yet music produced by a human - is absolutely sublime, although she could have used some more power in the first movement.
Kissin is excellent, but Son actually sounds more articulate even though she plays faster. She also better captures the rhapsodic style. It's like she's riding this music like a surfboard... she owns it.
Congratulations You are second only to Bruce (Xio) Lee. His fearlessness can carry anyone through of the wonder of his play of Franz Liszt's most difficult piece of piano music and it cannot be matched except maybe at the last part of your rendition of this piece. No other pianist can play this compostion with his unerrig accuracy of both beauty and necessary fast fingers. To play this ;piece at all it takes an utter fearlessness and a closest to the fastest finger speed possible!!
Excellent pianistically, and one can hear that it was a wonderful performance, but the video is let down by the audio quality being so 'jumpy' throughout.
